Ducks/Sharks Unwatchable

I usually refrain from posting until the following morning in order to restrain my comments from being too "heat of the moment", but tonight I must stray from this. This Ducks team is unwatchable...Un-phucking-watchable...they are the worst offensive team in the NHL no exception, Pittsburgh has a better offense than we do. I have Center Ice, I watch other games, trust me our offense is the WORST in the NHL. It takes the Sharks 2 passes to get the puck into our zone....2!....It takes the Ducks 5 sometimes 6 and that's provided it doesn't get fumbled or turned-over en route....You can outshoot a team all you want, but when all your shots are coming from the blueline and without traffic, you are going to lose a ton of games....but again....this is provided we can actually get the puck into the offensive zone for any amount of time, or even get a cycle going...Phuck that would be refreshing...this team is deplorable at best...even in the Colorado game, if it wasn't for Carney getting back out of the penalty box and stopping Teemu's chance we probably lose or split points in that game...bottom line is the opposition time and time again gets the quality chances where multiple things have to go right to keep the puck out of our net...while our chances consist of, yes, shots from the blueline....we got a gift goal tonight or else we wouldn't have even been in the game late....I broke the remote today and not so much because this is a divisional game or anything, but more because this team I that I support is flat out not cutting it...we bring in 2 players who led their respective teams in scoring last season and we struggle to score 1 phucking goal every game...we can blame the absence of Nieds and Jerky all we want and yes we miss their presence in the front of the net but with speed guys like Andy and Feds we should still be able to get the puck into the zone for God's sake...this defensive corps cannot move the puck up the ice, plain and simple....we need someone back there who can make the first pass out of our own zone and press the opposition...too many times I am seeing opposing teams pinch and not respect our ability to get up the ice...this team rips the heart right out of you...I've gone from "There's a lot of season left" to "somewhat alarmed" to "frustrated" to "phucking pissed" and now after tonight's "phucking pissed" tirade I've gone to "we need to do something now"...this team is flat out disgusting to watch...I saw Return of the King earlier today I would rather watch the awful drawn out post-ring destruction ending 10 times over than watch another Ducks game anytime soon...They are absolutely brutal....Other than to regroup...add someone on the blueline who can make a pass out of the zone...hope the big guys come back sooner rather than later...and hope they can get a string going soon....I just don't know about our boys anymore...I'm afraid this team is heading for the lottery...just sickening....

I deliberately waited for someone else to post this first, since I know I have a bit of a Chicken Little reputation.

There is no shame in realizing you were wrong. They rode a hot goaltender and won a bunch of one goal games last year. It's statistacally impossible to do that for any length of time.

Hop off the bandwagon and start cheering for the Kings.

It will help end this blackeye of the NHL that much quicker.

Uh, thanks but no thanks.

As bad as it was to watch the Ducks tonight, it would be too disgusting to be associated with ilk of your type. Vomit-inducing disgusting.

What reason do we have to feel "shame" for following a hockey team? I don't think anyone here feels the need to personalize hockey so much.

You put the Kings organization to shame and you are a blackeye on the human race.

Anyway, speaking of Ducks and Sharks, I was watching the plays of the month on the Score, and watched that Cheechoo deke. The Score guy described it pretty well. Lubomir Vishnovsky got burnt pretty bad there.

Haven't heard hockey personnel mix those two up for a while.

IMO, the Ducks got outcoached by Ron Wilson. The Sharks have been laying the trap against us the three games we have played them recently. For some reason, Babcock hasn't made any adjustment to give our guys a chance. Its hard to get the puck out of the zone when the Sharks Dman are waiting for the outlet pass along the boards. The Dman got to use their best friend and that is the boards. Chip it pass the Dman and let one of the forwards race for it. Do it a few times and the Sharks Dman won't play as aggressively as they did all night long. The Ducks also need to dump the puck in and cycle it more. IMO, the Ducks lost last night wasn't about any player or talent. It was about coaching. For ex. Scott Thornton kept messing with the Ducks so they could play 4-4. The Ducks don't have the same speed as the sharks so essentially, the Sharks controlled the third period.

We Kings fans once again apoligize for Semenko. It's funny when he trolls on your board he's a Kings fan, but when trolls on our board, he's a Flyers fan.

Once again, remember He is not a Kings fan, just a Duck Hater.

See you guys on Jan 7.

I also thought our powerplay was horrible. With a minute left in one of our chances carney was on the point, why? I think chistov will be back in the line-up and although he hasn't scored this year he helps the powerplay more than most would think.

Strange enough, Cheechoo did manage to make Vishnevski look pretty stupid in the 2-0 loss last week.
---------------------------------------

The one thing I noticed more than anything else is the defense's inability to forward the puck QUICKLY. They are taking an extra second when trying to forward the puck, and they end up chipping it because they took too long.

The other thing I noticed was a lack of energy. They got horribly outworked by the Sharks. It basically looked like 6 on 5 the entire game.

Unless Babs changes the coaching style he's using (to accomidate to inept defense and slow forwards) the Ducks will continue to struggle playing the sit back and wait game.

yeah I would think Chistov would get back in the lineup tonight...if he is not in there tonight then he is on his way to Cincy soon.

I can't believe we haven't played you yet.

If we don't get out ***** together in a huge hurry the Kings are going to smoke us.

I'll pile on with the popular feeling here that our greatest weakness is the team's total ineptitude at moving the puck efficiently in or out of the defensive zone. Salei seems to be our only defenseman who feels a sense of urgency when the puck touches his stick.

I don't know if such stats are kept, but we must lead the league in defensive zone and neutral zone turnovers. It's unwatchable.

Who knows why Murray was pursuing Comrie when our glaring need right now is a defenseman who can handle the puck (and Ozo is clearly not the answer because he's a liability on D, plain and simple).

Is tonight's game on FSN2?

Edit: Never mind. I checked, it's on FSW2 at 7:30 PST.

I noticed that too

They grouped all of the games together this year.

Wed 1/7 at Anaheim 10:30 PM
Sat 1/24 Anaheim 10:30 PM FOX WEST
Wed 1/28 at Anaheim 10:30 PM
Sat 2/28 Anaheim 4:00 PM FOX WEST
Sun 2/29 at Anaheim 4:00 PM
Sun 3/14 Anaheim 4:00 PM FOX WEST

6 games in 2.5 months can really fuel the rivarly! You guys really turned in on in the second half last year and depending on who you talk to, Allison will be back after Christmas. It should be a good series this year.

Happy Holidays to you guys, except Semenko :joker:

The Sharks didn't really play the trap that much on the Ducks. Once the Sharks had the lead they just stood up the Ducks on the blue line. Even if the puck went past the D-men Nabokov was there with his stellar stick handling. IMO not too many Sharks D-men will back off if the Ducks play dump and chase. McLaren wil just pound the forward into the boards.

I'm a student of the "it's not a real rivalry until they meet in the playoffs" school.

At least to the players. It's been a fan rivalry for a while.

Heh, i don't think that was a coaching strategy. Scott Thornton looked PISSED. I haven't seen that guy that angry in a game for awhile. Game one he was already steaming cause he kept tying up with guys. I saw him get a wicked head lock that dragged him down. Not to say that Thorton wasn't guilty/making penelties too, cause you know, he was. He just looked angry the whole game. In game 2 he tried to break his stick over the bench but there wasn't room so 4 seconds later he smacked it against the wall. damn near hit himself with it. Also to add to it hes on a goal drought and he had so many good chances. At one point in game 2, he was behind the net and just completely lost the puck for no reason. I think hes angry mostly because of mounting frustration caused by under production. Anyways as a sharks fan thats my observation / opinion. I very well could be wrong.
