WC: May 3 GDT - Denmark vs. SwedenPredatore 05-03-2007, 05:08 AM http://www.iihf.com/Hydra/Tournaments_07/output/WS/hydra.iihf.com/113/ Crazyhorse 05-03-2007, 06:18 AM Falukorv > Pölse :) Sweden wins, 5-1. Hennessy 05-03-2007, 07:05 AM 43-1, like something out of 1954. Bubba64 05-03-2007, 07:36 AM Who will get the start in net? Daniel Henriksson ?? hdw 05-03-2007, 09:27 AM The battle of Öresund. And the Danes have lost to Swedes coming over the ice before. Like in 1658 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/March_across_the_Belts) :) Gumpen 05-03-2007, 12:19 PM No goal. Correct call. Chimp 05-03-2007, 12:19 PM Yeah, that was definitely a kick. Gumpen 05-03-2007, 12:20 PM 1-0 Denmark!! Hennessy 05-03-2007, 12:22 PM Well, they're back to giving up the quick goal to open the game. Thought they'd broke that habit with Switzerland. LeafsrGods* 05-03-2007, 12:27 PM is the game on freetv on the Net? If so, can anyone tell me! Hennessy 05-03-2007, 12:27 PM Oh-oh. Systemfel 05-03-2007, 12:28 PM Another tank game? yarre 05-03-2007, 12:28 PM Sweden is showing their real colors against a top nation :sarcasm: Gumpen 05-03-2007, 12:28 PM Henriksson gives up a softie... 2-0 Denmark... :shakehead Chimp 05-03-2007, 12:30 PM I prefer us to play our one bad game each tournament now than later. Yup, that 2-0 goal was a softie by Henriksson. LeafsrGods* 05-03-2007, 12:31 PM 2-0 lead by denmark?!? LeafsrGods* 05-03-2007, 12:33 PM Sweden on powerplay? Chimp 05-03-2007, 12:33 PM :biglaugh: That was the weakest slashing call so far in the entire tournament on Steen. 2 min for poking. LeafsrGods* 05-03-2007, 12:34 PM how bad was it? Chimp 05-03-2007, 12:36 PM He basically got 2 min for trying to put in the rebound when the Danish goalie covered the puck. Jokerit Wasp 05-03-2007, 12:36 PM ref (like in all other matches) is calling everything! this Danish performance so far reminds me of their efforts vs USA in 2003, camped out in their own end and scoring on the break. Hennessy 05-03-2007, 12:40 PM Nice. Jokerit Wasp 05-03-2007, 12:41 PM nothing wrong with Regin fighting off the Swedish defence either... which has now lead to a PP goal for Sweden...:shakehead Chimp 05-03-2007, 12:43 PM 2-1 on the PP by Kenny Jönsson. This ref thinks he is reffing bandy or something, he is waay to picky. Hedström got 2+10 there. This will turn into a PP party. Jokerit Wasp 05-03-2007, 12:44 PM 2-1 on the PP by Kenny Jönsson. This ref thinks he is reffing bandy or something, he is waay to picky. If you touch on oppo player its 2mins interference! Never a penalty on Sweden there... Chimp 05-03-2007, 12:47 PM Hahahaha! This guy is too much. 5 on 3 for Sweden now and neither was anything, especially not the second. Pushkin* 05-03-2007, 12:48 PM Hahahaha! This guy is too much. 5 on 3 for Sweden now and neither was anything, especially not the second. Great game so far the Danes have a lot of pride Pushkin* 05-03-2007, 12:48 PM great crowd Chimp 05-03-2007, 12:49 PM Åkerman scores, 2-2 on the 5 on 3. DayWalk3r 05-03-2007, 12:49 PM 15-3 in shots so far. Crazyhorse 05-03-2007, 12:57 PM Sloppy first 10 minutes, hopefully we can get rolling in the second, with the long substitutes in favour. Chimp 05-03-2007, 01:13 PM Steen another 2 min penalty for breathing on a Danish player. They just said this Czech ref has an average of 56(!!) PIM each game. Incredible. I must have misheard it for 36 or something, still a brutal number though. This guy must be used to reffing peewee hockey. hdw 05-03-2007, 01:18 PM Well we always tank one game per tournament. Let's hope this is the tanker:) And let's be positive, it's good for hockey in denmark:) Tobias 05-03-2007, 01:32 PM This just sucks. It should still be 2-0. The 5on3 PP was a joke from the ref, and there was CLEARLY a crease violation on the 2nd goal... And *** was that that PP goal about? there was NOOOOO penalty there... Oh my god, this just sucks.. DayWalk3r 05-03-2007, 01:37 PM Is Johan Davidsson the leading tournament scorer now? CSKA 05-03-2007, 01:43 PM Is Johan Davidsson the leading tournament scorer now? for one day yes :sarcasm: Crazyhorse 05-03-2007, 01:47 PM for one day yes :sarcasm: How could you say that, he is going to get a hattrick in the third, i can promise you! :sarcasm: Anyway, Båg needs to adjust the lines with Wallin/Hedström/Warg, and Bäckström/Steen/Emwall. None of them are working. I would rather see Bäckström/Steen with Warg, and Emwall with Wallin and Hedström. We need to get Bäckström and Steen going. They won't get going if they don't receive some top pp-time, they allways seems to be the last line that gets the chance. Tobias 05-03-2007, 02:29 PM Best match ever by Denmark. We should have won this one if it wasn't for that stupid ref... Chimp 05-03-2007, 02:29 PM This just sucks. It should still be 2-0. The 5on3 PP was a joke from the ref, and there was CLEARLY a crease violation on the 2nd goal... And *** was that that PP goal about? there was NOOOOO penalty there... Oh my god, this just sucks.. To be fair, that ref has been awful against both teams. And to say that you would win with 2-0 after one period of hockey is stretching it a little bit too far. On a OT note, I fell asleep for about a period. ;) Hennessy 05-03-2007, 02:31 PM Haha! Tobias 05-03-2007, 02:36 PM Yes he has, but look at it from our pov. We are playing an elite nation, and almost all the Swedish goals had something to do with the ref being incompetent. It would've been 2-0 if he didn't suck. hdw 05-03-2007, 02:36 PM Best match ever by Denmark. We should have won this one if it wasn't for that stupid ref... Yes and no:) Denmark gave a very good game. Possibly best ever. But Denmark still needs a little bit more than that, and a bit more than refs, to win that game. But the danish game are getting better, and this second round, not relegation round. So congrats to Denmark :) Riddarn 05-03-2007, 02:38 PM As entertainment goes, this was not much to remember.. Denmark played well, Sweden did not. I think 5-2 was way too big numbers all things considered. It would not have been unfair for this game to "end" 3-3 instead. Denmark should have a realistic shot at beating Switzerland. Love the new danish generation of players. I wonder how a U-23 game between Sweden and Denmark would end up. Probably pretty even. DayWalk3r 05-03-2007, 02:38 PM I was very impressed by Peter Regin (Timra IK) Crazyhorse 05-03-2007, 02:39 PM Yes and no:) Denmark gave a very good game. Possibly best ever. But Denmark still needs a little bit more than that, and a bit more than refs, to win that game. But the danish game are getting better, and this second round, not relegation round. So congrats to Denmark :) Isn't the USA game in 2003 the best ever for Denmark? Anyway, all credit to Denmark, they where playing great, Sweden got a lucky break on that 4th goal. It will get tougher from here. After the Finland game, we should now where we stand. Toett 05-03-2007, 02:40 PM We should have won this one if it wasn't for that stupid ref... :thumbu: yarre 05-03-2007, 02:44 PM Sweden would have won the World cup in football 2006 if it weren't for that stupid ref! Tobias 05-03-2007, 02:47 PM Yeah the Danes are coming. Looking forward to our NT in a few years with players like Lars Eller, Mikkel Bødker, Morten Madsen, Kirill Starkov, Mark Mieritz, Sebastian Svendsen, Philip Larsen, Oliver Lauridsen, etc etc. I think our u23 teams would be very, very even. Isn't the USA game in 2003 the best ever for Denmark? Anyway, all credit to Denmark, they where playing great, Sweden got a lucky break on that 4th goal. It will get tougher from here. After the Finland game, we should now where we stand. The result was better, yes, but i think they played at least as good in this game. hdw 05-03-2007, 02:47 PM Isn't the USA game in 2003 the best ever for Denmark? Anyway, all credit to Denmark, they where playing great, Sweden got a lucky break on that 4th goal. It will get tougher from here. After the Finland game, we should now where we stand. I wouldn't dare to speak for the Danes but I'd guess that if beating USA is very nice then beating Sweden in hockey would send Denmark into a wild party frenzy :) Now both Sweden and Finland has had their tank games. We'll have to step up for 'the game'. And Denmark should party hard. Look at the good things, Denmark played a really good game. And Norway is playing relegation :) Hennessy 05-03-2007, 02:51 PM Denmark played an impressive game. In some ways the outcome was closer than the score, but you can't ignore the shot differential. Still, Denmark kept it close most of the game. The refs were brutal to both teams. I don't mind if you call 20 penalties in a game as long as they're deserved, but so many of those weren't even borderline. Tobias 05-03-2007, 02:54 PM Yeah of course i know Sweden can play a lot better, but i'm just exciting about our young players...beating Sweden in hockey would of course be the best thing that could happen :) My heartbeat was just 250 when the score was 3-2 and Frans Nielsen got the breakaway...and when we were dominating the Swedes in the end of the game... Oh well, stil la game to remember :) Tobias 05-03-2007, 02:57 PM The game was clearly a lot closer than the SOG indicate, yes.. GuloGulo 05-03-2007, 02:59 PM Danes weren't bad at all, but they should've kept their game simpler, shot more and tried keeping the puck among themselves longer than a few seconds when they started their breakouts. Way too much puck thrown out in hazard passes after the 1st period. Madsen was decent in goal, that last one looked a bit silly, but he was screened. Denmark needs more playmaking, calm defensemen on their side. Nielsen, Starkov, Regin n Staal looked confident. Just bugged me how they (as a team) were going out to the boards or passing back to defensemen once they established in the offensive zone... oh and the penalties killed em. 5 on 5 they held their ground well. Special teams drained them off momentum. Chincy calls, yup, but many of them were due to frustration and poor discipline rather. Imo that last breakaway attempt that resulted a Holding(?) minor on Sweden could've been a Penalty shot... it'd made the game more interesting ;) hdw 05-03-2007, 03:02 PM Yeah of course i know Sweden can play a lot better, but i'm just exciting about our young players...beating Sweden in hockey would of course be the best thing that could happen :) I actually have to agree. Denmark beating Sweden in hockey would indeed be a very good thing, for hockey in general, for hockey in denmark and in some wierd way for hockey in sweden. It'll take a while until Sweden-Denmark in hockey is as classic as the same in football. In hockey (and athletics) the archenemy is still Finland :) But you are here, in the second round, and I for one like it :) Tobias 05-03-2007, 03:07 PM It would make Expressen and Bengt stop calling us blueberry nation and donald duck team, that's for sure :) hdw 05-03-2007, 03:51 PM It would make Expressen and Bengt stop calling us blueberry nation and donald duck team, that's for sure :) I think it was Bengan behind the blueberry thing only, and Wikegård behind the Donald Duck thing. But be proud of the Donald Duck reference, remember the "Huey, Dewey and Louie line" (aka Peltonen,Koivu,Lethinen). If you are at their level you're good, very good :) Tobias 05-03-2007, 04:16 PM Oh we can take it :) Actually i have a question. What is the general oppinion about Danish hockey? I know that most Swedes on these boards has respect for our hockey because you know how extremely talented prospects are playing in the Swedish junior system. But what does the general Swede who might not know those players think? Are they still laughing when it comes to Danish hockey? hdw 05-03-2007, 04:32 PM Oh we can take it :) Actually i have a question. What is the general oppinion about Danish hockey? I know that most Swedes on these boards has respect for our hockey because you know how extremely talented prospects are playing in the Swedish junior system. But what does the general Swede who might not know those players think? Are they still laughing when it comes to Danish hockey? In general terms we're laughing our ass off. Just image the headlines of the tabs after losing a hockey game to Denmark. But those who are a little bit intrested is a tad more impressed. SEL teams are employing danish players, sure SEL isn't NHL, but they're payed to play. So it's happening, it'll take time but it will happen. It's all down to national interest, football, handball and hockey? Denmark is at least bloody good at football (soccer) and handball, what number three? Biking? (I feel a bit ashamed, I should know that). But you did a good game, and germany beat czechia, who knows what your upset will be :) Tobias 05-03-2007, 04:40 PM Well yeah and players like Lars Eller and Mikkel Bødker has a shot at becoming real NHL stars. It depends on how you measure the interest. If we look at attendance hockey is actually second over handball - believe it or not. But it's the third biggest sport in Denmark. The oddset league is also getting better and better. Players like Jesper Damgaard and Jens Nielsen are returning to play in Denmark. Rumours even say that Kim Staal is on his way home. I don't believe that for a second though, he could still be a solid Elitserien player. hdw 05-03-2007, 05:51 PM Well yeah and players like Lars Eller and Mikkel Bødker has a shot at becoming real NHL stars. I don't believe that for a second though, he could still be a solid Elitserien player. Go Denmark go. I look forward to the loss. Denmark is moving forward, and the national team having a secure place in group A is making it better. We will still consider it silly, until the first game is lost :) But go Denmark go :) We need more national teams, which means more national leagues. We need you to have a good run. klappklapp 05-03-2007, 06:18 PM I must say it was a real treat watching Regin in yesterdays game, not very surprising considering his performance in timrå. Denmarks future looks interesting and something id rather read about in the swedish media than the spewings about lower ranked nations. :shakehead Krm500 05-03-2007, 06:24 PM Oh we can take it :) Actually i have a question. I can't speak for the avrage Swede hockey fan, but I'm not looking down at danish hockey my self. Chimp 05-03-2007, 09:07 PM Speaking of Danish hockey, I'm glad to see that it's improving. Teams like Germany and Switzerland aren't a walk in the park to play against anymore and today, Denmark impressed me. Looks like the Danes want to be at the German/Swiss level. Smaller hockey nations growing is good for hockey. If a smaller country like Slovakia with 5 million inhabitants can have a strong core of players, so can Denmark if the effort and determination is there.
