WC: May 1 GDT - Denmark vs. UkrainePredatore 05-01-2007, 04:44 AM http://live82.ihwc.net/english/scores/ Mr. Penguin 05-01-2007, 08:23 AM Denmark 1-0! Go DEN! :handclap: cska78 05-01-2007, 09:40 AM Come on Ukies, what a shame :( so far Mr. Penguin 05-01-2007, 10:00 AM This is an awful game. And the goalies truely suck too. But what matters the most is that Denamrk will avoid relegation if they keep this 4-2 lead. :) Like Wall 05-01-2007, 10:04 AM Nice game for Denmark, but W-T-F is wrong with Ukraine? Missing good players (just like Latvia)? 12# Peter Bondra 05-01-2007, 10:06 AM Nice game for Denmark, but W-T-F is wrong with Ukraine? Missing good players (just like Latvia)? They lack money. They dont have a lot of teams in Ukraine and players either. At the current tempo, the game may become quite rare in Ukraine. Like Wall 05-01-2007, 10:15 AM They lack money. They dont have a lot of teams in Ukraine and players either. At the current tempo, the game may become quite rare in Ukraine. You think we have money? And besides, we lack players too. It's a miracle we have managed so far. Brothers of sorrow we are Zine 05-01-2007, 10:22 AM Their "A" squad is better than Denmark but unfortunately, for some reason, their starting goalie and 7 best forwards aren't playing (Simchuk, Shakhraichuk, Varlamov, Ponikarovsky, Fedotenko, Mikhnov, Litvinenko, Kasyanchuk). Either way hockey is dying in Ukraine. Their junior teams already play in IIHF's 2nd division. In fact, Ukraine's U-18 team lost to Japan this year.:biglaugh: :( Like Wall 05-01-2007, 10:23 AM Their "A" squad is better than Denmark but unfortunately, for some reason, their starting goalie and 7 best forwards aren't playing (Simchuk, Shakhraichuk, Varlamov, Ponikarovsky, Fedotenko, Mikhnov, Litvinenko, Kasyanchuk). In fact, Ukraine's U-18 team lost to Japan this year.:biglaugh: :( That sucks. cska78 05-01-2007, 10:30 AM Their "A" squad is better than Denmark but unfortunately, for some reason, their starting goalie and 7 best forwards aren't playing (Simchuk, Shakhraichuk, Varlamov, Ponikarovsky, Fedotenko, Mikhnov, Litvinenko, Kasyanchuk). Either way hockey is dying in Ukraine. Their junior teams already play in IIHF's 2nd division. In fact, Ukraine's U-18 team lost to Japan this year.:biglaugh: :( yeah the limit on foriegn players in Russia hurt Ukranians and Belorussians, and somewhat Latvians too...Before they were considered equal to domastic players and many could play in Russia freely, now Russian teams preferre to stock Canadiens, Slovaks and Chehs for the 3 spots for foreigners that they got.... Ukraine lost, if they get relegated the hockey is dead there :( cska78 05-01-2007, 10:32 AM Let me reiterate the hockey is dead there...Many players on their national team are the ones who moved to Russia in early ages, so they continue playing hockey, and now play for Ukraine, cause they weren't good enough to crack Russian National Team. The only way out is to field a team in Russian League even if it's not Super League at first... Like Wall 05-01-2007, 11:39 AM Denmark 4 Ukraine 3 Good job Denmark, anyway! You have earned your stay at A league. Mr. Penguin 05-01-2007, 12:30 PM It's sad to hear about the problems Ukrainian hockey is having, but to be honest, it wouldn't be a big loss if hockey dies in Ukraine and a "better hockeycountry" gets their spot in the A pool. I mean, it's a poor country and it seems no one in Ukraine cares about hockey at all... 12# Peter Bondra 05-01-2007, 02:45 PM You think we have money? And besides, we lack players too. It's a miracle we have managed so far. Brothers of sorrow we are I consider Latvia a bit of a richer country than Ukraine. Like Wall 05-01-2007, 04:08 PM I consider Latvia a bit of a richer country than Ukraine. It depend on from which perspective you look on the matter. If you talk about minerals, and riches the earth is keeping, then I must say Ukraine is much richer, but misused. Ukraine has potential to become a rich country in the future. Latvia currently is richer, but funny that those riches belong to lobbies corrupting government from West, East and South. That goes also to Latvian Ice Hockey Federation, and its leaders, who mysteriously tend to become millionaires (or close to it) while on post. cska78 05-01-2007, 07:39 PM It depend on from which perspective you look on the matter. I think Ukraine is very corrupt, and the fight for Russian / American dominance or influence ( u name it) is hurting the country. I must admit, that if they choose Russia they won't get nothing but discounted oil prices (may be), if they choose US they will be used for American interests. They should choose their own way, IMHO. As for Hockey, noone cares about it in Ukraine, they like football, they are pretty good at it, and they should just stick to it. Unfortunetly, there are no good hockey countries out there, who's spot is taken by Ukraine. I think Kazahstan (with Ustinka) deserves a spot, but their best players must start playing for the team. Who esle Slovenia? Hungary? France? there's noone out there :( Tobias 05-02-2007, 02:36 AM So next year we will have u18, u20 and senior in the a-pool, great. More than you can say about Czech. Our team will be strong in a few years. But yes, Hirsch really sucked today. But he has just recovered from surgery, and he is not perfectly ready. Their "A" squad is better than Denmark but unfortunately, for some reason, their starting goalie and 7 best forwards aren't playing (Simchuk, Shakhraichuk, Varlamov, Ponikarovsky, Fedotenko, Mikhnov, Litvinenko, Kasyanchuk). Either way hockey is dying in Ukraine. Their junior teams already play in IIHF's 2nd division. In fact, Ukraine's U-18 team lost to Japan this year.:biglaugh: :( Well we need players too. I thing we would still win if both teams had all their best players. Jazz 05-02-2007, 04:45 AM Good for Denmark! I am glad that an up and coming hockey nation will make it to Canada next year. Who esle Slovenia? Hungary? France? there's noone out there :( Ukraine are a joke in soccer. Only reason why they got so far in the World cup was because of luck with who they were playing with.
