Our best player so far?

I'm gonna go with Pronger. Bryzgalov would be a close #2, but Pronger leads our team in points and his play continues to be vital, especially in the special teams.

Pronger.

Bryzgalov really wouldn't be in the top 5 of my list. The team in front of him was simply much better than the opposing team. He made the saves when he needed to, but I'd put at least Pahlsson, both Niedermayers, Pronger, Getzlaf, Beauchemin, and probably Perry (who I thought was awesome, despite not showing up much on the score sheet).

Franky B.

His heart and tenacity define this team. The way he plays consistently in the playoffs keeps this team going.

Pronger. He is freakin good, and if you notice, he's scoring the same goals for the ducks he was scoring against them last year. :D

Best players in order imo..

Pronger
Scott Niedermayer
Getzlaf
Pahlsson
Beauchemin/Bryzgalov

what we need going forward is better play from our top line we won't go far if they combine for 4-5 points a series. Selanne, McDonald, and Kunitz need to be better, if they aren't you have to look at mixing things up.

I liked the way our kid line finished round one, Penner looked like he was moving alot better, stronger on the boards than the previous few games.

In their defense, Minny did a good job shutting them down. I knew that would be a concern coming in but our depth ultimately was going to be huge, which it was.

Minny is the best defensive team in the play-offs, it's not like Selanne and McDonald had the luxury of playing against horrible defense and even more horrible goaltending of Tampa Bay for example.

Pronger of course.

For the first line, it proves we can win - and pass one round - without their support on the scoresheets. It's pretty good for the following games. I have no worry they 'll step up in the close future, they are so talented.

I think everyone played pretty damned well. Even if Teemu and Andy Mac didn't score a whole lot, they did a hell of a job cycling the puck down low and wearing down the Wild defensemen.

Pronger was great, though. He did that whole "cover a 12 foot radius with my stick" thing that frustrated the hell out of us last year.

My vote goes to Ryan Getzlaf. All this kid did was lead all of our forwards in ice time, scored two game winning goals, made some outstanding stretch passes two of which resulted in goals (I believe), hit everything that moved, played with an edge that I've only seen from him on a few occasions, scored a shorty, was a beast on the cycle and played big minutes on the PK and PP :handclap: .

Also the biggest suprise to me so far was special Nieds, it is amazing how good he is when he actually tries, he played the best I've seen him play in a long time.

If Getzlaf plays like this regularly would it be fair to call him a power forward? he's not as big as Penner but he hits, he cycles, he just has what alot of pf's don't..speed.

I've suspected all year that Rob has been saving his legs for the playoffs. But he really didn't hurt what is still the best checking line in the league, and with Moen suddenly gaining 20 miles per hour, he didn't need to be the guy that ran opposing forwards down.

But come on, "when he actually tries?" He was one of two, count 'em, two players that played their ass off every night on the Club Feds team (the other being Sammy, of course). You can lament those piss-poor hands of his, but he gives it his all, and he's been a crucial part of this team since we first got him.

Hell I don't know what to call Getz, the best I can think of is a jack of all trades, put him in any role he wont look out of place, in fact he will probably dominate. He has speed, size, great hands, great vision, great shot (needs to work on accuracy a little though), he's good defensively and great on the cycle. Now in the playoffs he is playing with that mean pissed off streak that we all wish Penner would aquire. Oh ya and he is only 21.......well for a few more weeks at least.

I disagree, mainly because during the last few seasons I always saw him coasting, which is the main reason he took so many damn hooking penalties. Also he has the annoying habit of not clearing the zone when he gets the chance, he will either take a lazy swat at the puck or he just flat out gets beat to it along the boards. However, so far during the playoffs he has Hustled to every puck and outworked everyone along the boards, his play has been impressive.

Also I never once thought he hindered our checking line, I just always thought he had the talent to be even better if he wasn't so nonchalant.

Pahlsson and Getzlaf have been the best forwards in my opinion...both have lifted their games. Its great that Getzlaf is doing it at such a young age...

I don't even know how to respond to this. We've been watching different players.

We are entitled to our opinions last I heard. Most people I know agree that Rob is usually very lazy, you obviously disagree but at least we can both agree that he has been great in the playoffs thus far.

I have to agree. Out of all of our prospects, I like Getzlaf the best with Penner as a very close second and Perry a not too distant third. Getzlaf is the most complete out of them all. He has a big body, good speed, very soft hands, a hard shot, and good defensive play. I have a feeling in the future he's going to be our captain...as long as he stays on this team.

Not sure if he's been the best, but it's no coincidence the one game the Ducks lost is the one game Beauchemin didn't play. He is a complete defenceman and the best hitter on the blueline, toss in the PP ability and the fact that he eats up huge minutes behind the big 2 and he might just be the most un-talked about key component.

I agree, if it wasn't for King Beauchemin, we would've lost to Minny.

These are all really good answers; I don't think anyone is particularly wrong, but I make a case for Pahlsson here (http://battleofcalifornia.blogspot.com/2007/04/ana-min-review-forget-selke-lets-give.html).

Key stat, probably? Playing 55% of our shorthanded minutes (27 1/2 minutes in the series) with zero PP goals against. Remember, Minnesota had the sixth-best power play in the league over the course of the regular season.
