Will Devils dress Janssen?

Hey, im just curious to get your guys input on this, i know Rupp can hold his own, but do you think that after what the Lightning did at the end of game 5, maybe the Devils will dress Janssen to stick Roy back in his place? Cam is one of the toughest in the league, and if the Devs are losing bad in the 3rd, maybe he could go out and do what the Bolts did last night?

Honestly, I'd rather leave the goon stuff to the lightning and concentrate on winning the game. Janssen wouldn't be able to do much to help us with that. If we were down 3-2 and getting bullied up and down the ice I might feel differently.

I personally want Janssen to be dressed. You won't see anyone even thinking of going after one of our solid young players like Greene. Rupp and Rasmussen cannot fight on the level of Janssen.

Yeah but Jannsen cannot play on the level of Rupp and Rasmussen either.

Rupp: Can fight and hit and skate
Rasmussen: Can skate and hit
Jannsen: Fights

I really hope Jannsen does not play. So uch more can be gotten out of Rupp and Rasmussen.

Meh, I'm not that high on Rasmussen. If not Janssen, dress Clarkson then.

I would dress Jannsen. The reason being that towards the end of the game if it looks like the Devils will the game and the series, Tampa might try the same crap like they did last night. I know it may mean sitting someone like Rasmussen but I would hate to see Tampa go after someone like Langenbrunner again. I think this is where it hurts not having White in the lineup because he is another player who would be having the Bolts looking over their shoulders.

Dressing Cam would be playing into Tortorella's hands.

NJ needs to roll 4 lines which means dressing players who can handle more TOI.

TB gets the last change at home.

Janssen vs. the Lightning top 4 = a 7th game.

Colin made the trip to Tampa this morning and he's going to try and play tomorrow.

I would dress Janssen too. So what if he doesn't get more than 2-3 minutes a night?! Neither did Rupp and Rasmussen in the first 4 games.

Rupp did a good job against Roy last night, but if there's one player who can hurt you with thundering hits on our team it's Cam Janssen.

Tampa was sending a message last night and by inserting Janssen into the lineup the Devils will be responding to that message. Tampa's gonna come out flying in game 6. Put Janssen in there and silence the Tampa crowd with a couple of huge hits. That would make them think twice in the future.

Janssen could easily bruise a couple of their D-men with hits. Especially Nolan Pratt who injured his shoulder/hand/wrist last night in that bout with Langs.

With Janssen in the lineup the Lightning won't take as many stupid decisions..because they know Janssen will make them pay for it.

I really hope that Lou dresses Cam!

No on Janssen. However, I wish he would use Clarkson, but Lou won't sit Dowd.

Clarkson will be making the trip as insurance due to the increased travel.

I doubt Lou dresses both Janssen and Clarkson, but who knows?

Roy would get PUMMELED by Janssen, that's all i have to say.

The line up is fine how it is. Dressing Janssen would be what Torterella wants. I say scratch him.

No, Janssen will probably not play next game since it's an important game for us.

However, the 4th line have only been getting about 2 minutes a game for the first 5 games. That being said, Janssen can do TONS more in his 2 minutes of ice time than Rupp or Rasmussen (specifically Rupp) can do in their 2 minutes of ice time.

Yeah, he isn't the best defensive offenseman or the most offensive offenseman, but like he said, he knows what his role on the team is and can do more in 2 minutes of ice time than most people on the entire team.

I said in another thread, Janssen should play in home games only to get the crowd on their feet and make the CAA rockin'.

Normally DF would say forget it.......are you nuts? However, the 4th line plays 2 minutes a game anyways, so why not just have Cam sit on the bench until we need him to bash a few skulls.

Except last night when Rupp protected the puck wonderfully down low and then made a beauty pass to Andy for the first goal, right?

Keep the lineup the same unless---> If White can play, Oduya sits.

That was on the powerplay. I agree, Rupp made a great play. However, in my opinion I feel that during 5 on 5 hockey Janssen can do more in his 2 minutes of ice time.

That being said, I don't want the lineup to change for the next game. With the lineup we had last night, we played excellent, and there's no reason for changing it. I was just giving reasons on why Janssen should play, but I never said he should play next game. Also, it depends on the opponent, and I don't think we need him in the next game where if we win we advance to the next round.

What? That wasn't on the powerplay. I understand that you are not arguing for Janssen to be inserted, but just realize that was a key play in the game, and it's a play that Janssen simply does not make.

I think it would be a very bad idea for Janssen to play; I would've been more likely to play Mike Danton, Danton was a better skater and could cycle the puck. I seriously doubt that Janssen could even line up St. Louis, Richards, or Lecavalier for a hit, they're just too fast. I don't really care about hitting the rest of that team, which amounts to an AHL squad.

I don't see the point in dressing Janssen. Rupp or Rass could hold their own against the Lightning's "tough guys", it's not like they have a Boogaard or Laraque on the team to worry about.

Devils played a great game last night, no reason to change the lineup for tomorrow.

Dress Cam for home games to get crowd pumped.

Dress Clarkson for road games to do 'cam duty' plus score. He can also park in front of the net and get some garbage goals on the PP too!

i say you dress him. he's only gonna get 2-3 minutes of ice time and he can do a lot in that time. if janssen plays then i think rasmussen should sit.

Marty being Marty won us that game.. I don't think we played all that well.. We were outshot pretty badly and didn't have much offensive spark..

I don't see a need to dress Janssen for this game, I wanted to see him earlier in the series when we kept gettin pushed around.. I think Torts will have either Richards, St.Louis, or Lecavlier on the ice every shift.. Madden, Pando, & Brylin/Razz better have their legs tomorrow afternoon

If Torterella wants to be a sore loser let him. I would like to think that Lou Lamoriello has more class and would hold himself to a higher standard. More time for Roy means less time for Lecavalier and St. Louis, and more time we are on the attack.

I see no need in playing Janssen. And if White really did make the trip, that gives us another physical prescence.

I never said he cannot hit. I just forgot to mention he also does.

Jannsen can hit and fight. But his value and what he brings is much less then Rupp and Rasmussen.

Rasmussen had a great season. He filled in well on top lines during times when the team battled injuries of key players and played exceptionally well on the 3rd line RW and on the PP. I have always felt (avatar aside) that he isa prototype Devil. Rupp is a great skater, is physical and is good to have in front of the net with his reach and size.

I am not dissing Jannsen. I like him a lot and it is fun when he drops the gloves. But he is just simply not worth having in the lineup over a line of Rupp-Dowd-Rasmussen.

I doubt Janssen will be dressed. If TB wants to throw haymakers instead of trying to score goals, I say let 'em. The pride of winning on the scoreboard is always greater and more real than the "pride" of winning a fight.
