Yet another reason to love Beauchemin

I think most of us appreciate how good he is, and his effort in game 5 just made me respect this guy even more..

Beauchemin played a team-high 28 minutes 32 seconds in the Ducks' series-clinching 4-1 victory Thursday night wearing a special face mask. And that told the real story.

The mask was to protect two slight fractures in his jaw.

That's right. Beauchemin got more ice time than his higher-profile teammates Scott Niedermayer and Chris Pronger despite being injured.

The news, disclosed Friday, made it more understandable why the 6-foot defenseman sat out Game 4 of the Ducks' Western Conference first-round series. He had had a plate implanted in his jaw that day.

"We know what type of competitor he is, and he's proven that to us night in and night out," Ducks Coach Randy Carlyle said. "Some guys can take a lot more [pain] than some other individuals. He's a special hockey player."

Leading the team in ice time with 2 fractures in your jaw? :amazed:
This guy is such a different maker, we go from a team with two great defensemen, to a team with 3 great ones(and he is great look how much better we play with him in the lineup)

With the 'big 3' in the lineup I think we are like 20 games over .500 including playoffs, and have lost like 11 or 12 in regulation with all 3 playing.

Beau has got some big cojones.:yo:

and it points out how much of a little girl Gaborik is, because punching a guy it the face with a shield is bad but punching someone in a spot where he had surgery 2 days prior is down right My Little Pony.

when everyone on the main boards was going oh pronger and neidermayer this and that, i kindly reminded everyone that we have another great defenseman, and he would be nails. i also predicted some beauchemin body bombs, and while those didnt really happen, he did have some great hits, and some awesome plays and reads. Im very happy this guy is on our team. i can appreciate players who are great even when they are really hurt (yzerman), obviously he cares about the team above all else. and his threshold for pain must be well, nothing any of us could imagine. He is locked up until after next season correct? cause i could easily see another team making him a 3-4m offer.

The guy is amazing. I don't believe he was able to play with that type of pain. Beauchemin signed a contract extension earlier this year that will pay him 1.65 mil for the next two seasons. Meaning? His contract will end the same year Scotty does. Great job Burkie! :handclap:

What a stud. Franking if the f---ing man! He steps up his game so much come playoff time. He was amazing in Game 2 and didn't miss a beat in Game 5. I'm glad he'll have some time to rest up because he's earned it.

He makes such a difference in the team defensively and offensively. If it was possible, he should get a raise. He is definetly underrated in the league.

No trolling here, but I couldn't help but look at this thread after seeing the title. As a Hamilton Bulldogs season ticket holder, for the past several years, it's nice to see that you guys saw something in Beauchemin that the Montreal organization couldn't.

A lot of us saw a ton of potential with him in the AHL, it was just a matter of a team giving him a legitiment shot not just a game here or there.

If your GM is interset the Next Beauchemin coming out of Hamilton goes by the name Dan Jancevski. He is a free agent this summer and I really feel that if he is given a real shoot, some team will be pleasently suprised.

I wish Beauch play more like this during the regular season.

I think that we really started to see this style of game from him in the last 10 or so games of the season. He really stepped-up when Pronger and Neids were alternately out, and got some good ice time. Since then, he has really increased the physicality in his game.

Who cares? I'm glad he saved it for the playoffs, when it matters most. Every player should step up this big in the spring, that's what the playoffs are all about.

I thought he played rather well after returning from the spleen injury, especially when Pronger got hurt again :dunno:
