JRZ DVLS 04-20-2007, 03:03 PM Anyone remember the Intro song they used to play on 770 WABC in the early/mid 90's when Chris Moore was doing the radio games. It goes something like this
Hey, you Devils
Play You Devils
Show them that they met the Best
"Catch Fire"........
.......
It may be stupid, but when I didn't have Sportschannel back in the day when i was a Young'en I used to listen to the games before going to sleep praying for a victory.... And this song was always stuck in my head. For some reason it has come back to me and wanted to see if anyone remembers it, or actually has it as an Audio file.
It would be sweet!
Chico Resch 04-20-2007, 11:10 PM Oh jesus. Now you got me singing it. Man I remember the 770/Sportchannel days, I was one of the lucky few who had Sportchannel during the earlier days, I remember it was hot **** if you could catch a playoff game from the west late at night, with Jiggs Mcdonald doing the PXP.
DevFan-RU- 04-20-2007, 11:15 PM Someone find it... if possible.
Richer's Ghost 04-21-2007, 01:09 AM 770 was how I first followed the Devils games back in the 80's. I'd tune in from ohio on AM radio and actually could barely get it if I drove around in my car and found a good high spot with no interference. I'd listen to Mike Miller and Sherry Ross and soak up the play by play... if I recall though, the intro song was Van Halen's "right now".... awesome - and I actually made a re-mix of that song with highlights from the 2000 cup win.
Man listening to the games used to be so exciting on the radio, trying to imagine the plays - it was horrible though early in the season (fall) because the reception with the late sun made it impossible to pick up the games until the 2nd period or so. Crystal clear winter nights were the best though - it sounded like a local station. I couldn't dream of things like the internet back then or being able to stream... thank god for DirecTV and the Center Ice Package.... that changed things for good or else i might have had to change to a Blue Jackets fan.
I wonder if should post that as an mp3 mix for folks to download from a public FTP site....
Sure why not... I actually used to play this during commercials to keep me pumped during the 2002 and 2003 years (worked once... almost twice).
Hope someone likes it - I do. :yo:

Lou's Koolaid 04-21-2007, 01:22 AM Don't remeber this from the early 90's would like to hear it. It's got to be pretty funny/corney.
tangible_faith 04-21-2007, 12:45 PM I remmeber those days. CHerie Ross Larry Brooks etc. Mike miller was good, but not as good as Moore. Laughlin sucks...I used to listedn to all the games up here in Toronto. I still get them on the car radio up here...
Classic Devil 04-21-2007, 12:52 PM I never watched any games on the TV, but I always, and still, listened to 75ish games a season on the radio. I still miss Mike Miller. Laughlin isn't very good.

Pluss they used to Play Yankees Pre-season Games over Devils games, even Playoffs. Miller, Ross, Brooks, Moore. I liked Chris Moore the best, and Hennesey wansn't bad. Occasionally on my way to Mens League games up in Illinois I can get the Game on the AM dial. Only if it is Raining with low cloud coverage though. And thats FAN 660. I still have them on my presets and will forever.
I really wish I could find the song. It was the opening to When Chris Moore was there. it was a bit cheesey but as you see it was catchy and it will get stuck in your head if you heard it
I am going to email ABC/ or find a way to contact Moore about it...I just don't know the year right off the bat. i will do a search and see what i can come up with...
BCdevil 04-25-2007, 10:37 AM I have the cassette. Only 2 problems for now. 1) it's in a box at home, 5 hours away and 2) I have no idea how to turn a cassette into an audio file

Yeah Matty was much better at doing the Dano's Den segment and interviewing players in between periods than the radio play by play. He's a little slow for radio, but was decent on the tv coverage when filling in for Doc.
I am really surprised how well Steve C. does at both play by play and the interviews/segments with Dan/Stan... he doesn't exactly look like a 'sports guy' but he sure can talk the talk! :)

Have to agree. At first I couldn't stand him but I think that was more based on his uneasy interaction with Fischler than anything else. He still looks and acts like he's afraid that Stan is going to punch him in the mouth as soon as the red light on the camera goes out and laughs way too easily and cornily at his jokes, but he's not half bad on the fill-in play-by-play and player interview duty.

Hahahaaaa... I don't think it would be the first time he'd have been hit. I think that's why he's a bit flinchy when it comes to Stan, although he does laugh at Stan's stupid puns so that's got to get him some credit.
DevsOwnYou 04-25-2007, 03:18 PM Someone needs to tell Laughlin to say "Score!" when the Devs score a goal, instead of "it went in" or "it's in the goal", which are brutal.
