Mike Hoffman

Think Burke will call up Hoffman? I know that he still wouldn't be anywhere near Boogaard's size but he would be the biggest enforcer the ducks have and if he got hurt fighting, at least the Ducks would still have Parros.

I know that it would be a one game thing but Burke will not stand for the Ducks being pushed around. He takes pride in having his teams being able to push around other teams, need be.

If Fedoruk can fight Boogaard (that took lots of courage), then Hoffman should be able to at 246 pounds. I don't go by the weight of TSN but from the Anaheim Ducks.
TSN has Boogaard at 250 and we all know he is about at 276.

I guess its possible, but I wouldn't think it to be likely. Burke may not like the Ducks getting pushed around, but his number one concern is going to be getting to round 2. The Ducks aren't little tykes. They can hold their own and be aggressive, while still playing smart. Boogaard is exactly the type of guy that the Wild are looking to get under the Ducks skin. My guess is that they aren't going to pay any more attention to him than they need to in order to advance to the next series.

He's been recalled...He was recalled along with Tim Brent, Ryan Carter, Bobby Ryan, Brian Salcido, Clay Wilson, Gerald Coleman and Petteri Wirtanen (who is already there because of an injury)

Yeah, now that their season is done that's what you do. I would be pretty surprised if he steps foot on NHL ice though.

Is there anyone of note left in Portland, or is everyone now in Anaheim?

Everybody is in Anaheim now....Dineen, Rick Burrill(Trainer) and the players heading to Anaheim left on Tuesday.

Nobody's left in Portland except for the cleaning crew.

Hoffman was called up? Awesome! :handclap:
I had the opportunity to watch him when he was with the Monarchs, and in a couple of more games with the Pirates after he signed with Anaheim.
I am by no means a hockey expert, just a fan of the game, but I think he's got potential to develop to a spot in the NHL.
And even though he was often called upon to fight, I saw him more as a Penner-type, than a Parros-type. He's big, makes a good screen in front of the net, and has skill with the puck. Just my novice opinion. :)

well, this is good news for the ducks. He is listed as weighing 246 pounds and on Minnesota's site, Boogaard weighs about 250 pounds. and so if this is true, it would be a fair match-up between the two.

I don't know what the wild are winning about. we all knew the play by May was coming...whether it be by May or another player from the Ducks...sooner or later.

When Burke was with the Canucks, he didn't stand for the hit on Naslund and was key in getting Bertuzzi to do what he did to Moore. I wouldn't be surprised if Burke didn't tell May or another player to get back at Minnesota when they get the chance, for the hit Boogaard tried doing to Huskins (attempted knee injury)

not to mention, Boogaard also tried getting Beauchemin knee to knee earlier in the series. so, how do the Ducks respond when Boogaard tries to take out their 6th defenseman (at the time)? they go after the Wild's best defenseman in Johnsson. even though I do not want to see anyone get hurt, with Johnsson out, the Ducks have a real good chance in finishing up the series tonight.

to put it into perspective, losing Johnsson for the Wild would have been like losing Scott Niedermeyer last year in the playoffs. the Ducks would have been barbequed withouth him.

anyways, I would love to see what Hoffman could do since Parros can't be much better. but to be on the safe side, I would rather Shannon center a line with Thorton and Parros tonight.

Also wouldn't mind seeing Bobby Ryan play in a playoff game this year.
When Marchant gets back, Brad May and Bobby Ryan on the fourth line would be looking pretty good.

Doubt any of the "Black Aces" WILL BE ALLOWED TO PLAY

It would be a fair matchup until they actually fought. Hoffman would get destroyed, the guy can't fight. He tries, but he never wins.
