hear me out. I would like to see the Devils make 2 moves for tonight's game and they both involve the Lowell Devils. However, neither one involves David Clarkson. They both would make Lou look silly but if the Devils lose tonight, he's on the brink of looking silly anyway. Without further ado:
1) Sit Oduya (or Matvichuck or Lukowich if he doesn't make it to Tampa in time) in favor of Dan McGillis. I know, he was pretty bad last year but guys have shown that it takes a while to get used to the system (Matvichuck, Lukowich). However, he was the best player on the team in Lowell this year and has maintained a great attitude. He can help out offensively and adds more grit than Johnny, more skill than Matvichuck and doesn't have a wife giving birth like Lukowich.
2) Sit Dowd in favor of Grant Marshall. Dowd may not have even been in NJ this year if not for the fact that Marshall was a cap casualty. Marshall can add something offensively (remember the last time we played the Lightning?). He also brings a physical game and is willing to drop the gloves if necessary.
I know that these suggestions are out there but both players have played the system all year and have something to offer. Feel free to start laughing now.

The Marshall idea may be a good one, as for McGillis...He runs around too much and makes the big giveaways.

I agree if we are talking about the McGillis of last year. However, that wasn't the case with Dan in Lowell this year. I know that success in the AHL is not an accurate indicator of success in the NHL but I do think it is valuable in the case of the Devils, where there is an organizational system in place. McGillis played much better positionally this year and made much smarter plays. He also lead the team with a +10 and that doesn't take into account his significant powerplay time (10 PP goals) or the fact that the team was a -8 in goal differential

Key words: in Lowell. There is a difference between the AHL regular season and the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

i posted this in the other thread as well...the dude is NEVER going to play another game for the devils...you all need to just deal with the fact that this guy sucks...

also, there is no point in sitting dowd. he has been doing his job well and killing penalties to boot.

I would like to see both Pelley and Clarkson inserted in a healthy line-up. Both guys play with grit and take the body.

i want cam in. the 4th line is getting minimal time, and last game tampa was looking for bodies.

Definitely need some body snatchers in the lineup. Marshall is a Playoff guy and would fit well. I'd like to see Cam in too. The Bolts 4th liners had a ton of energy and were hitting anything with a stick.

Correct me if i am wrong, but i knew Clarkson had his fair share of fights and penalty minutes in Lowell, but he freally hasn't been a huge physical presence I thought he would be. He has the size/frame, he just has to use it more often.

In my opinion, Matvichuck sucks and he played the other day. How is that so much different? One's coming off a back injury and is slow and plodding. The other has been playing all year in the same system.

mcgillis is just as slow and he is atrocious

seriously did you watch him at all last year? he cannot play in the NHL anymore. matvichuk was one of our most solid defenseman the other night and if you dont see that you mustve been watching a different game

First off, McGillis is not just as slow as Matvichuck. Also, I already made the point that Dan McGillis is a different player now than he was last year which is what you are basing his play on. Also, I would describe Matvichuck's play the other night as merely adequate. None of the six defensemen played notably well, including Matvichuck

You are right in that those moves would definitley make Lou look silly.

Talk about hitting the panic button...

What are your opinions on Oduya? you guys see him alot more than me. To me this round seems way out of his capabilty and he is struggling. The Lightning are exploiting him big time.

Dowd is one of our best players right now. That suggestion is rediculous. I think we're better off calling Clarkson back.

Odouya hit the rookie wall about a month ago and seemingly no one in NJ other than the fans has noticed.

I like Clarkson alot but I don't feel comfortable inserting him in game 4, down 2-1. That's why I feel like Marshall is the way to go. Just a feeling I get

Odouya seems to be adjusting. I think he's not handling the playoff pressure and thats all. Maybe the presence of lou is making him nervous.

He normally plays well and maybe somebody needs to get him to chill out.

How is that hitting the panic button? I suggested sitting a guy who has played 2 games in the last year or a guy who looks lost out there for a guy who has been playing all year and sitting Dowd for someone who would be playing anyway if not for salary cap issues at the beginning of the season.
I agree they are not conventional moves but it's hardly the panic button.

I think they should give Bergfors a chance to prove himself.
Devils needs offensiv power now.
If they lose one more game, the playoff is probably over for Devils:teach:

Clarkson is good at irritating the other team. He's what we need right now to get under the skin of LeCavalier. Maybe he can get him to make some mistakes. Other than that, he's 6'1" very good at handling the puck and is a play maker. Somebody we really need right now.

Dowd has always been solid in the playoffs, removing him for someone else is just gambling. We don't need to remove anyone right now, cause White is hurt. So we could probably get someone up.

i'm not so sure if game 4 of the playoffs is the time to bring grant marshall into the lineup. the guy hasn't played a minute in the NHL all year and i think bringing him up now would be a huge risk. i would rather see jansen or clarkson play, guys that have played in the nhl this year. also no dan mcgillis please, i really don't care about his ahl numbers, this is the nhl playoffs the comparison isn't even close.

Don't laugh???? McGillis!? that is funny though.

Hey, give him shot...i know Tampa won't mind.

(you guys are too used to being DOMINANT, this team is playing decent...i'm not sure that it is about personel at all...some breaks and two softies is the difference more than any individual skater.

NJ wins like 3-2 tonight.

i agree 100%. we need cam! even though its not a great player, he is our tough guy and i think we need to unleash him on tampa bay. he may cost us a penalty or two but its worth it. cam knows how to work it.
