Kevin Forbes 12-18-2003, 11:16 AM The LA times is reporting today that Dan Bylsma could be in the lineup Friday. He participated in a full practice on Wednesday and is ready to go. Keith Carney and Sandis Ozolinsh also particpated in the full practice on Wednesday and should be playing on Friday as well.
The Ducks therefore demoted prospect defenceman Mark Popovic back to Cincy, and he will now play for Team Canada at the Spengler Cup from December 26th to 31st.
Also, after Friday's game, there is a free exhibition game of the National Lacrosse League at the Pond. The Anaheim Storm will be taking on the Colorado Mammoth.
Pwnasaurus 12-18-2003, 11:41 AM Good to see both D-men back...part of me still would like to see how Pop handles himself but there is plenty of time for that me thinks.
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-18-2003, 11:55 AM Bylsma back in the lineup = at least 2 guys trying their best (McDonald).
Lyons71 12-18-2003, 12:43 PM Everyone better be ******* ready to go.
After a big rest like this one, we might see a full 60 minutes...
then again...

Don't worry guys, I'll be there... when i've gone ducks haven't lost since...
wait wait... I'm not going to jinx it...
but i agree... they better be greasy tomorrow...
Jshibley 12-18-2003, 01:33 PM Bylsma back in the lineup = at least 2 guys trying their best (McDonald).
I am excited to have Bylsma back. He can even make Cullen look good!
Randall Graves* 12-18-2003, 01:41 PM Bylsma plays with heart i'd like to see him on the Rucchin line if Niedermayer can't play.
soya_sauce_chicken 12-18-2003, 01:45 PM I'll be there...
i'll be wearing my Kariya jersey and my girlfriend will be wearing my Chistov Jersey..
here's to a great game....
btw.. my gf has fallen in love with Sykora... she cheers him on, and now she wants a Sykora jersey.. :handclap:
S.S. Giggy 12-18-2003, 02:40 PM With Danny back, I'm expecting a boost for the Penalty Kill.
Hockeyfan02 12-18-2003, 02:46 PM Guys better be motivated to stick it to Kariya in front of the crowd he turned his back on while hes in the pressbox. I'm not as pumped as I would be if Kariya were playing. Doesnt seem like it would have the same intensity. I'm just hoping we dominate them for 60 and play with some heart to show kariya what he left and not the lackluster effort we put on in Denver when Giguere stole a point.
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-18-2003, 03:17 PM PK in the last 12 games:
52-for-60, 86.7%, compared to 83.5% for the season overall.
We've been a lot better since they adopted the more aggressive strategy, but even so, Bylsma is only going to help.

With Carney and Ozo back. It's time to sit Havelid!!!
Randall Graves* 12-18-2003, 05:47 PM our PP will get a much needed boost with Ozolinsh back and even though Ozo is bashed alot for his defense he's only a -1 which for this team isn't bad at all.
hopefully we get Niedermayer back shortly and then get Leclerc then we will finally have the checking line that IMO we don't have.
I expect a good effort tomorrow, the game is sold out and Bylsma will be a much needed spark.
Snap Wilson 12-18-2003, 07:30 PM I'll be in New Mexico, so don't blame my proximity. Hell, I left the freakin' country earlier this season and they didn't do crap when I was gone.
lux_interior 12-18-2003, 10:35 PM I think Neidermayer and Leclerc are more than a checking line.
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-18-2003, 10:50 PM They're score-tastic.
lux_interior 12-18-2003, 11:04 PM They're score-tastic.
Good, because we need all the score-tast-icall-ness we can get.
Don't know if the Ducks are going to turn it around. But, they're coming up on a big turning point soon. It's no longer "early in the season." The year's almost half over. We've gotta get our balls in gear.
Randall Graves* 12-18-2003, 11:06 PM I think Neidermayer and Leclerc are more than a checking line.
Its not your traditional checking line but we don't have a shut down line which IMO is one of our problems.
its a line that can shutdown the opposing teams top scoring line and put the puck in the net, that was our best line in the playoffs and Leclerc was due for a break out year this year.
lux_interior 12-18-2003, 11:17 PM Its not your traditional checking line but we don't have a shut down line which IMO is one of our problems.

I see your point. To me they're not a real checking line because they are able to score quite a bit. I would love to see Rucchin in between Neidermayer and Leclerc. Some big boys on that line. Then we could see our forecheck really get going. But to me, a checking line only specializes in defense with the odd goal here and there. If that line only got an odd goal here and there, we'd be in a lot of trouble.
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-18-2003, 11:59 PM We shouldn't be though, with Chistov, Fedorov, McDonald, Prospal, Sykora, and Pahlsson occupying the top six spots. But you're right that we would be in trouble.
This team will just never score enough. There's some kind of karmic barrier.
McDonald19 12-19-2003, 01:59 AM With Carney and Ozo back. It's time to sit Havelid!!!
I agree. I can't believe how bad he has been playing lately.
soya_sauce_chicken 12-19-2003, 08:31 AM so excited...
the time is almost at hand..
ohhh yeah.. Selanne is going down down down.. drop him like a toilet seat.... his diving ain't going to cut it at the Pond..
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-19-2003, 09:19 AM Kariya=b!tch (http://www2.ocregister.com/ocrweb/ocr/article.do?id=72327§ion=SPORTS&subsection=PRO&year=2003&month=12&day=19):
...Avalanche officials shielded Kariya from media interview requests this week. Though he has been skating as part of his injury rehabilitation, Kariya did not appear Thursday at the team's practice facility outside Denver.
Kariya...remained in Colorado this weekend to "skate on better ice" while furthering his recovery, Avalanche coach Tony Granato told the Denver Post.
There you have it. He can't come to Anaheim because the bad ice might bother his poor, sickly wrist. What a little coward.
Ducksfan2035 12-19-2003, 10:58 AM   pathetic!,whata coward
Randall Graves* 12-19-2003, 12:00 PM Talk about wimps,I wonder how Kariya fans will defend this.
Not to make excuses for Havelid but he has a pregnant wife and while I hope thats the only reason for his bad play its not an excuse. I don't see how he goes from solid for two years to absolute garbage.

hey guys, havent been here in a while, my computer is messed up at home, so i wont be on for about 2 weeks, but i got to use my cousins. I finally saw that comrie was traded, least we dont have to worry about that anymore.
in this game ducks are up 1-0 goin into the 3rd. feds with his 11th, sykora and ozo on the assists, keep it up guys. tty guys soon.
Dstudd
Jerky Leclerc 12-19-2003, 09:11 PM Ducks win 1-0. Good game except for the D. They did a good job clearing the puck from the net but atrocious in trying to get the puck out of our zone. Oh well. I guess Fedorov is going to decide which charity to pick for the win. He was on fire today.
j. knoxville 12-19-2003, 09:20 PM Decent game, still a lot of room for improvment for when we play the sharks. It's easy to see why this team suffers when Carney is injured, he was pretty dominant in our zone tonight.
I hope that Ozo injury isn't too serious either.
Bobby Ryan Getzlaf 12-19-2003, 09:31 PM Great effort by Fedorov in that game. The charity's his to pick as he scored a beauty in the first. Carney was also awesome. He was a major force, and was hurt throughout the game.
I noticed Selanne got booed pretty roughly ever time he touched the puck. When Kariya finally has the balls to play in Anaheim, I can't even imagine how bad it will be.
Giguere also had a great game. First SO of the season, hopefully this is his turn-around point of this year.
Oh, BTW, that double-minor by Burnett on Worrell wasn't the greatest moment of the game. I'm pretty sure Boogs loved it, though. ;)
Upon1 12-19-2003, 10:47 PM I noticed Selanne got booed pretty roughly ever time he touched the puck. When Kariya finally has the balls to play in Anaheim, I can't even imagine how bad it will be.
Yes I am sure Kariya cries himself to sleep at night fearing getting booed in Anaheim :shakehead
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-19-2003, 11:18 PM I think so, too.
ducksflytogether - Burnett...sigh. I don't think he deserved the extra rough, but c'mon...everyone knew Worrell wasn't going to throw right then. Except you, Garret! You big george-michael-on-steroids-looking freak!
Overall I thought this game was pretty similar to the ones we've been playing. I agree with Jerky in that they just can't clear the zone. They always seem surprised by how their hard-arounds aren't anywhere near a Mighty Duck. They flat-out suck at puck clearing. Clearing the crease was much better, but Jiggy didn't leave too many rebounds. Really only one or two on all those shots. The offense seemed fine. We had our chances. Aebischer had himself a helluva game.
Bottom line is if Jiggy's back then we're in business, no matter how much our defensemen may look retarded.
duckhead3198 12-19-2003, 11:20 PM Couple times, the puck was half way out the defensive zone in between the d-man and prospal, both seemed to look at each other, an Avs player would get it, and there would be good pressure against the Ducks. Those guys got to communicate, happened often enough for me to wonder why the heck didn't Prospal go down and get the freakin puck.
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-19-2003, 11:47 PM Oh, two more beefs:
1)How does Andy Mac get demoted off the top line in favor of Holmqvist?
2)How the HELL does Havelid play in favor of Vishnevski? Havelid had yet another brutal turnover about midway through the 3rd that almost cost us. At the same time, Vish gets the message that no matter how well he plays, he may sit anyway.
McDonald19 12-20-2003, 02:00 AM ducksflytogether - Burnett...sigh. I don't think he deserved the extra rough, but c'mon...everyone knew Worrell wasn't going to throw right then. Except you, Garret! You big george-michael-on-steroids-looking freak!
Worrell had just thrown a big hit on Carney. I don't mind Burnett trying to send a message not to hit our best defensmen.
McDonald19 12-20-2003, 02:03 AM Oh, two more beefs:

Yeah I agree on both points. Vishnevski deserves to be in the lineup.
Babcock definetly dislikes Vish, but I have no idea why.
I hope Chistov enjoyed his healthy scratch. Now score a goal or have fun in Cincy.
Good to see Bylsma back in the lineup.
Now if we can just get Leclerc back in the lineup. Nice new hair style for him during his interview.(long hair) He had his head shaved last year when I met him.
Jerky Leclerc 12-20-2003, 06:49 AM Giguere had a very good game. I noticed when the D loses man coverage, Giguere is trying too hard and playing too aggressive. He gets out of position in those cases. But in the Avs game, the D was doing a good job at boxing the front and clearing rebounds. This allowed Giguere to stay in the crease and play his game. I hope this game is an indication of Giguere and the D finding their groove again.
soya_sauce_chicken 12-20-2003, 08:42 AM my notes from the Game..
1) Selanne was booed everytime he touched the puck.. when he got hit, everyone cheered.. when i yelled nice dive, a lot of the ducks fans turned around and laughed and gave me a thumbs up..
2) Carney played solid, had 1 mess up
3) Ducks need to learn to hit the board when the puck is in our end
4) Ozo played well
5) Sykora and Fedorov were the only guys playing really really hard
6) Sauer played good
7) Jiggy stole the game for us
8) This goes to Boogs, I finally met someone who actually LIKES Burnett
9) I wondered how Vish was scratched like Boogs stated
10) Freaking loved the game... if someone knows of a webhosting place once i get the pictures developed i'll scan them and place them here..
Kevin Forbes 12-20-2003, 09:01 AM My notes on the game
Carney = God
Blocked 3 shots off his feet and was limping for most of the game, I got more respect for him now then ever. Was also steam-rolled by Worrell
Sykora also suffered from a cheap hit by Worrell
And then halfway through the second, Burnett choses the wrong time and plays with Worrell's sweater to get 4 minutes. Now I appreciate the idea of him stepping up after the Avs seem to be taking out everyone, but he should know there's a time and a place and when that time and place is. Plus later in the game he could of had an opportunity with Cummins but he didn't.
Penalty Kill for the Ducks looked so much better. I dunna if it was Bylsma or what, but very very nice.
Pahlsson didn't have a good first 2 periods. He looked lazy, especially on the PK, got better in the 3rd.
Simpson was solid
Giguere was solid, but hesistant. He was lucky to get the shutout, although as the game went on he seemed to get better. He had a few lapses and really needs to work on rebound control.
McDonald was everywhere out there,
How many broken sticks were there last night?
Prospal looked lazy. He seems a step slower then everyone else, and he was caught behind the play more then once.
Lupul looked very good
Sauer tried to be like Carney and took a shot off his foot and limped for a bit in the 3rd. He was solid in clearing the front of the net.
Blake was dominant, Norris candidate.
Travis Brigley wasn't good enough for Anaheim last year but is good enough for Colorado?
soya_sauce_chicken 12-20-2003, 09:04 AM My notes on the game

a lot..
and then you have every ducks helmet hit the floor at least once...
Ducksfan2035 12-20-2003, 09:45 AM how was the crowd, was it loud?..i heard it was a sellout..thats great to hear
lux_interior 12-20-2003, 10:40 AM Well we won, so that's good.
Giguere played great.
Good goal by Fedorov, on a nice give and go between he and Sykora.
Worrell made Burnett look like an idiot. Worrell should have gotten an interference penalty on that play against Carney, tho.
Liked how Simpson steamrolled Selanne a couple of times.
Good game. But Giguere stole 2 points, IMO.
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-20-2003, 10:43 AM how was the crowd, was it loud?..i heard it was a sellout..thats great to hear
Crowd was awesome.
Soya, the guy sitting next to me was absolutely TRANSPORTED with joy every time Burnett stepped on the ice. I think he even got a little bit of his **** on me when Burnett tried to fight Worrell. He was crushed when Worrell didn't reciprocate.
DieHard - you could see it in Worrell's body language, he had no intention of going. Burnett stepped into a REALLY obvious trap.
Kevin Forbes 12-20-2003, 10:45 AM Bad decision by Burnett but the idea was good, somebody needs to send a message to opponents.
I agree, all through the first period I was yelling at the screen for Burnett to prove his worth and actually do his job. His intentions were good. I was surprised that Simpson didn't step up and knock some around, but then again with Carney limping and Ozolinsh hurting, 5 minutes with Simpson in the box would of been a rough blow
Jerky Leclerc 12-20-2003, 10:49 AM The Avs were obviously running some of our guys in the second and third. Jiggy was getting crashed and bumped throughout. If Worrell didn't want to fight, the Ducks should had gone after Sakic or Hejduk. That's how you send the message to Worrell. God I wished we had Sawyer back. He was a good middleweight who had some brains.
Kevin Forbes 12-20-2003, 10:50 AM On a side note, where does Feds want the charity money to go to?
Jerky Leclerc 12-20-2003, 10:53 AM I think he mentioned something that relates to kids.
lux_interior 12-20-2003, 10:57 AM The Avs were obviously running some of our guys in the second and third. Jiggy was getting crashed and bumped throughout. That was pissing me off. I was yelling for someone on the Ducks to fight one of the Av's. They were pushing guys into Giguere. Running Giguere. You can't let that @^$% go on!
Bobby Ryan Getzlaf 12-20-2003, 11:41 AM Yes I am sure Kariya cries himself to sleep at night fearing getting booed in Anaheim :shakehead
Well,, he wasn't allowed to speak to the media all this week, and, he stayed in Colorado because apparently the better ice will be better to rehabilitate his sprained wrist. Yeah, that pretty much sums up how bad he's a coward.
Randall Graves* 12-20-2003, 01:26 PM For those wondering about Prospal I was at mighty ducks practice one day this week(the same day they filmed the tape for the BTAF on NBC) anyways Prospal went down pretty hard and was down for a few minutes and appeared to hurt his knee so that may explain why he looked alot slower then usual.
Hockeyfan02 12-20-2003, 01:34 PM Missed the first 2 periods because I was seeing ROTK, but I did see the 3rd. I loved the intensity throughout the game. It felt like a playoff game in the 3rd. Defense couldnt clear the puck for crap but Giguere came up huge when needed. How about Keith Fn Carney last night. TSN was showing how he blocked 3 shots and limped the entire game. What an animal the guy is to come back down after his penalty and get his stick on Selanne who had a wide open net. Fedorov played pretty good from what I saw, he went down to block a shot at the end and played great defense. It seemed like Giguere stopping everything and our guys hitting were getting under the skin of guys like Blake and Morris (evident in the last minute with his hit on Mcdonald). Refs were ok in the 3rd. I still dont see how they called the boarding on Selanne and the high sticking on Mcdonald and no-call Blake practically clotheslining Andy Mac in our end and then proceed to get the puck. Great win, hope Kariya watched the game or he might have been too hurt to press in the channel # and couldnt use the remote cause it hurt his wrist too bad. Like Teemu dont really get the booing of Teemu but after his crying after the game he deserves it.
Bobby Ryan Getzlaf 12-20-2003, 01:55 PM Yeah, the Andy Mac high stick wasn't the greatest call. I'm not sure on rules, but from what I saw, the Av player(can't remember who it was), hit himself in the face with his own stick.
Also, does anyone know why Foote got the Gross Misconduct at the end of the game.
Bobby Ryan Getzlaf 12-20-2003, 02:53 PM Does anyone else agree Carney should have gotten the third star over Steve Konowalchuk for his heruculian effort?
Also, I checked the voting on NHL.com for the three stars, and it seems Av fans are still really biased. Selanne finished first in voting, Sakic in second and Jiggy in third.
soya_sauce_chicken 12-20-2003, 06:12 PM Yeah, the Andy Mac high stick wasn't the greatest call. I'm not sure on rules, but from what I saw, the Av player(can't remember who it was), hit himself in the face with his own stick.

high stick i believe.. forgot
Boogs.. did you see Burnett fall down 3 times when no one was around.. can he skate??
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-20-2003, 07:16 PM Yeah, the Andy Mac high stick wasn't the greatest call. I'm not sure on rules, but from what I saw, the Av player(can't remember who it was), hit himself in the face with his own stick.

Because he couldn't shut himself up. He cost his team two points.
Soya - yes, I took note of each instance in which Burnett attempted a simple hockey turn and instead fell over. I wasn't surprised.
Chistov23 12-20-2003, 07:37 PM Soya, the guy sitting next to me was absolutely TRANSPORTED with joy every time Burnett stepped on the ice. I think he even got a little bit of his **** on me when Burnett tried to fight Worrell. He was crushed when Worrell didn't reciprocate.
I wonder if that was "Dirk316" from the other anaheim boards.

Soya - yes, I took note of each instance in which Burnett attempted a simple hockey turn and instead fell over. I wasn't surprised.
Yeah. Anyone else notice him trying to pull a Pahlsson and no one covering him on the blueline? Just three Avs watching in awe. If someone would've taken the puck from him, it would've probably led to a nice 2-on-1.
