Feature Article of the Day...FROM DAILYNEWS.COM

(To read the rest of the article, click the link).
Ducks of a feather (Written by Elliot Teaford)
They have skilled forwards capable of bamboozling opposing players. They also have brainy and brawny defensemen willing to do whatever is necessary to maintain a safe zone for their battle-tested goaltender.
Most of all, though, the Ducks have a sense of purpose.
Eleven months after the upstart Edmonton Oilers knocked them off course, the Ducks believe it's their turn to fulfill their destiny. The Ducks' quest for the Stanley Cup begins tonight against the Minnesota Wild at the Honda Center.

11/10/07 Game Summary Monarchs @ PIRATES (Written by THEAHL.COM person)
The Pirates lost a real toughie to the Monarchs yesterday. A goal by Joe Motzko and a 29 save effort by Gerald Coleman were not enough as the Pirates lost 3-1.

I believe the Yahoo feeds can only be seen in the US. Somebody with some computer skills can probably figure out how to make your IP address appear like it's in the US, but otherwise I don't think you can watch. Sorry.
Static 04-11-2007, 03:43 PM I'll be at work for this one; sweet!

What kind of connection do you have? Modem or router?
I looked it up online as well as asking some people and here's what I've got:
-You could try using a proxy server: Info here (http://www.whatismyipaddress.com/staticpages/index.php/how-do-I-use-a-proxy-server)
-If you have a modem, you could follow these instructions: Link here (http://www.whatismyipaddress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?forum=7&showtopic=8112) (It's a thread off a forum so you could always view the other topics and see if they might help also.)
I'm not exactly sure if they will work but you could always give them a try. Good luck.
Davey Duck 04-11-2007, 04:20 PM It appears that for home games, our GDT will become the global GDT. Therefore, I elect DFC to create all home game GDT's. I'd also like him to let loose and blow these things out even more if he's got the time.
Davey Duck 04-11-2007, 04:24 PM Oh yeah, for the trivia, let me give this a shot...
Ducks - McDonald, Giguere, Pahlsson, Rob Niedermayer
Wild - Fernandez, Gaborik, Walz, Bouchard...I'm stumped after that
Changed teams - Carney

Randall Graves* 04-11-2007, 07:00 PM Winning this first game is important, you want to make game 2 a must win for the Wild. We haven't played well in Minnesota this year, granted we lost Pronger for most of the last meeting.

To answer your question:
1. Yes i am surprised Parros isnt in. Especially how intense the playoffs is going to be. Parros can serve as our insurance policy. I dont want Boogy injuring our guy like Boogy did to the Oilers this year.
2. Yeah, the game is available on sports.yahoo today. :handclap:
Davey Duck 04-11-2007, 08:05 PM 2 questions:

Maybe they'll go a game without Parros, see if Booger is a factor, and put him in next game if need be. That 3rd line is tough enough to at least get rough against him this game if need be, although they likely won't be dropping the gloves.

Lets not start this again.
I wish May or Thornton played center so we could have a line of May, Thornton and Parros.
If Boogaard's in, shouldn't we (my adopted team for the playoffs) play Parros?
braincramp 04-11-2007, 08:47 PM Because it's pointless to have two goons engage in a structured fight which proves nothing. Toughness is necessary and I welcome it, but no pointless fights, please. This is the playoffs.

Boogaard's made a name for himself this year for hitting opposing players very hard... If not cheaply at times. Why not have someone that can stand up to him?

What a junk 4th line we have, Thornton is a good choice, May should be in a retirement home and Parros is where he belongs - watching hockey on TV.

Giguere will be a factor in the playoffs...right now he just can't focus on the playoffs because of his son's illness.
Joe Canada 04-11-2007, 10:29 PM I'm still mildly curious as to what this "illness" is that it could be serious enough to keep Giguere with his wife, but simultaneously be non-life threatening? Was he born with a tail or something?
Good thing Bryz has been playing well lately, we're in good hands either way. :)

Also, since I've met Giguere a few times and he was always a great dude. I'm sorry to hear about his son and if that's the reason then I can understand Bryzgalov getting the start. Plus Bryzgalov's comments about Edmonton were hilarious.

snarktacular 04-11-2007, 11:04 PM So I just got on. What's the deal with the GDTs? There's one here and one in the main Cup board. Are we supposed to all go there? All do both? Post the first half of our posts here and 2nd half half there so they don't make sense?
this game is being played in slow motion compared to Pittsburgh-Ottawa earlier.
This Nashville/San Jose OT is amazingly fast paced... So many scoring chances that would allow me to watch the Ducks game, but nothing yet.
If Parros and Boogaard go and I miss it because I'm watching this other game... I will be sour.
McDonald19 04-11-2007, 11:09 PM If Parros and Boogaard go and I miss it because I'm watching this other game... I will be sour.
don't worry they don't look interested in each other...they had a faceoff next to each other and didn't even say a word...then Boogaard had a chance to throw a big hit on Parros and he let up on him.
emagdnim 04-11-2007, 11:09 PM So guys, how's the playoffs intro lookin'? Is it still the Saliva one or is it different?
don't worry they don't look interested in each other...they had a faceoff next to each other and didn't even say a word...then Boogaard had a chance to throw a big hit on Parros and he let up on him.
Good to hear... I think that unless they do something completely stupid, both guys will get dressed every game.
McDonald19 04-11-2007, 11:11 PM good shift by the Pahlsson line...they draw a penalty.
best line of the game for both teams so far has been the Pahlsson line.
snarktacular 04-11-2007, 11:11 PM Moen with a glorious scoring chance, but at least he gets a penalty.
BraveSirRobin 04-11-2007, 11:13 PM Oh man, that hit the post. So close.
McDonald19 04-11-2007, 11:13 PM The Ducks can't catch a break.
Powerplay looks good though.
snarktacular 04-11-2007, 11:14 PM Getzlaf is getting nasty. Backstrom either luckily or skillfully sucks up the puck as it bounces off the post behind him between his legs.
McDonald19 04-11-2007, 11:15 PM Perry rings the crossbar.
it's just a matter of time, the Ducks are getting all kinds of chances.
snarktacular 04-11-2007, 11:15 PM Yikes. Perry shoulda one timed that. His little delay let Backstrom get across.
Edit: Nevermind. Replays show crossbar.
McDonald19 04-11-2007, 11:18 PM Parros interference penalty...legit call but they have let worse things go, thats the frustrating thing.
snarktacular 04-11-2007, 11:20 PM Haha, Pronger passed Demitra's helmet to him. "Just giving it to you so you can put it on and be safe"
McDonald19 04-11-2007, 11:21 PM 0-0 after 1st.
Ducks are on their game, just haven't gotten one past Backstrom. 2 posts and a couple bad bounces.
Ducksforcup 04-11-2007, 11:21 PM Solid period for the Ducks. They dominated. Keep it up and pucks will go in.
snarktacular 04-11-2007, 11:23 PM Yeah Nubla must be on a stool or something.
The first period of my new team and I get to watch the OT in Nashville... This relationship is having a rocky start. Glad to hear things are going well though.
snarktacular 04-11-2007, 11:26 PM Haha the first thing the broadcaster guy says after the Nubla interview is "how nice, the players sit down for you." It's just that obvious.
cmcdmania 04-11-2007, 11:26 PM Haha. Of the 4 games today, our game is the only one with 0-0 at the end of the first period.
soya_sauce_chicken 04-11-2007, 11:26 PM Getz is looking for a fight.. love his intensity right now
stalbert1 04-11-2007, 11:27 PM Parros interference penalty...legit call but they have let worse things go, thats the frustrating thing.
Worst player in the NHL. Join the wrestling circuit stache boy!
Ducksforcup 04-11-2007, 11:27 PM Shots are surprisingly close at 13-11, but the actual period wasn't close at all.
Worst player in the NHL. Join the wrestling circuit stache boy!
No room for Parros or stache haters in this thread buddy.
Plus, hating the stache is like hating puppies... You don't hate puppies do you? Come on, no one hates puppies.
Spanky McQuack 04-11-2007, 11:30 PM 12-2 in hits...nice :yo:
stalbert1 04-11-2007, 11:31 PM No room for Parros or stache haters in this thread buddy.
Parros being dressed is pathetic, he and May dont belong on this team.
McDonald19 04-11-2007, 11:32 PM Worst player in the NHL. Join the wrestling circuit stache boy!
He has also thrown two huge hits on key Minnesota d-men.
let Carlyle decide whether he belongs in the NHL...tonight apparently he thinks he does.
State of Hockey 04-11-2007, 11:35 PM Wild came out a bit flat, and the Ducks clearly won the first period. I think we expected that. Once the Wild get their legs going they'll be fine.
Wild came out a bit flat, and the Ducks clearly won the first period. I think we expected that. Once the Wild get their legs going they'll be fine.
When that happens, it's rough on a team to dominate a period and be better prepared than their opponent only to not get rewarded with a goal.
BraveSirRobin 04-11-2007, 11:44 PM How many chances are we going to get until we score?
McDonald19 04-11-2007, 11:45 PM wild get the first one...
Ducks were dominating...and the counterattack pays off for the Wild.
Hockey Duckie 04-11-2007, 11:45 PM ::: sighs ::: 0-1
BraveSirRobin 04-11-2007, 11:46 PM Demitra scores, 1-0 Minnesota.
McDonald19 04-11-2007, 11:46 PM and DiPenta to the box for holding...
Spanky McQuack 04-11-2007, 11:48 PM gotta reclaim that momentum boys
Hockey Duckie 04-11-2007, 11:48 PM I've seen this side before... dominating a game, but not the result on the scoreboard. Although, usually in the playoffs, the Ducks' goalies are the ones bailing the team out and we have the outcome. Just awkward seeing it.
Knitscarf 04-11-2007, 11:49 PM Thank you Selanne for blowing the 2 on 0. Game could be totally different if he doesn't blow that with Kunitz. A 2 on 0 should never be missed at this level.
McDonald19 04-11-2007, 11:51 PM Thank you Selanne for blowing the 2 on 0. Game could be totally different if he doesn't blow that with Kunitz. A 2 on 0 should never be missed at this level.
1st off it wasn't a clear 2 on 0 it was selanne all alone from an angle and Kunitz trailing...secondly take your comments to the neutral NHL playoffs board.
Knitscarf 04-11-2007, 11:53 PM That wasn't a clear 2 on 0? Kunitz was breaking to the far post and they had a step on the D men off the bench for sure. Replay time.
He made up for it, nevermind ..haha
I CAN WATCH THE DUCKS NOW!!! Sharks win in OT...
The minute they switch over, Selanne scores! It's an omen.
Hockey Duckie 04-11-2007, 11:53 PM Selanne with a breakaway and in with a goal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BraveSirRobin 04-11-2007, 11:54 PM TEEMU! Nice goal!
McDonald19 04-11-2007, 11:54 PM Selanne!!
1-1
cmcdmania 04-11-2007, 11:54 PM Tied!!! Finally!!!
Spanky McQuack 04-11-2007, 11:54 PM ****IN RIGHT!:yo:
snarktacular 04-11-2007, 11:54 PM Teemu! That was a fast counterattack.
Huge hits! Now this is a team I can cheer for!
McDonald19 04-11-2007, 11:56 PM and the hitting picks up...
snarktacular 04-11-2007, 11:57 PM Nice shift by the 4th. Lots of hits eveywhere. Then Beauchemin finishes it off with a huge check on Demitra.
Spanky McQuack 04-11-2007, 11:57 PM mmm pugnacious
snarktacular 04-12-2007, 12:03 AM And Beachemin wishes he had an illegal stick like Selanne as the puck hops over his stick behind his net.
This Pahlson, Niedermayer, Moen line looks real good so far.
Ducksforcup 04-12-2007, 12:03 AM Much more even period. This is what I expected.
And the hitting could become one of the bigger factors of the series. The Wild cannot handle the hitting.
Knitscarf 04-12-2007, 12:04 AM Shutdown line is looking more like the first line. I hope they get rewarded with a goal.
snarktacular 04-12-2007, 12:10 AM See that's what I mean by Gaborik being the explosive scorere of the Wild. Hell he pulled away from Niedermayer there.
McDonald19 04-12-2007, 12:12 AM 1-1 after 2.
Ducksforcup 04-12-2007, 12:13 AM The Wild started to take control in the last 5 minutes of the game. Kind of glad that period is over.
When the Ducks lay off the hitting, the Wild are getting some chances.
stalbert1 04-12-2007, 12:14 AM What a great play Beach to Teemu.
4th line stapled to the bench all 2nd period, what a waste.
McDonald19 04-12-2007, 12:22 AM 4th line stapled to the bench all 2nd period, what a waste.
I think we are all getting tired of your ranting about the 4th line. Find something else to talk about.
The 4th line had a very good shift in the 2nd, set the tone and you could see that energy carry over for a while after that.
BraveSirRobin 04-12-2007, 12:34 AM Backstrom is having one hell of a game. Lots of good saves.
stalbert1 04-12-2007, 12:43 AM Backstrom is having one hell of a game. Lots of good saves.
Backstrom so far is hot, lets hope it doesnt last.
Were down to 3 lines since someone made the call to dress Parros and May - now since the game is tight its too dangerous to put them on the ice since they may get a penalty or make a boner pass.
McDonald19 04-12-2007, 12:46 AM Were down to 3 lines since someone made the call to dress Parros and May - now since the game is tight its too dangerous to put them on the ice since they may get a penalty or make a boner pass.
Marchant is injured, there is no one on the Ducks roster who could solidify the 4th line tonight. Shannon is not the answer.
SamitheGreat 04-12-2007, 12:46 AM Thornton and Shannon aren't exactly a dream pairing either. The only thing about the fourth line I wish was different was our injured super 4th liner Marchant. The others are all interchangeable in my opinion. Personally I would prefer Thornton - Parros if Boogie is in the lineup. Thornton -May if no Boogie.
Yawn... You're like a broken record. Too bad you have little knowledge about hockey.
SamitheGreat 04-12-2007, 12:47 AM Marchant is injured, there is no one on the Ducks roster who could solidify the 4th line tonight. Shannon is not the answer.
Beat me to it...
byungshin34 04-12-2007, 12:48 AM Huskins seems kind of nervous. :shakehead
The refs really have gotten rid of the whistles for this game... Complete opposite from the Sens/Pens game earlier tonight.
McDonald19 04-12-2007, 12:52 AM Penner!!!
Wild did that to their own goalie...I don't think they can argue that one.
cmcdmania 04-12-2007, 12:52 AM The chanting could have made a difference. Let's Go Ducks!
BraveSirRobin 04-12-2007, 12:53 AM The Wild are going to have one angry goalie.
McDonald19 04-12-2007, 12:53 AM Ref was there watching the whole thing...Wild D-man ran his own goalie.
good job kid line!
DucksWon'07 04-12-2007, 12:54 AM Clarly a goal, but why isn't it reviewable?
The Ducks are going to need the Wild D to keep running Backstrom to beat him consistently.
If the Ducks would be able to put a couple more in, we'll see how bad that decision to start Parros was...
Hockeyfan02 04-12-2007, 12:56 AM Great pass by Getzlaf to Penner from the Ducks zone. Nice job by Johnsson to run his own goalie. :handclap:
Hockey Duckie 04-12-2007, 12:56 AM Great pass to Penner and for both Penner and Perry for not giving up on the play! Goal- Penner!
Even if he doesn't play, did you guys get to see Parros there being a great doorman on your feed?
ExplosionsintheGine 04-12-2007, 12:59 AM Come On Minnnyy!!!!!
cmcdmania 04-12-2007, 01:00 AM Come on Ducks.. keep up the domination!!! Just one minute more!!
ExplosionsintheGine 04-12-2007, 01:01 AM ****ing A!!!!
cmcdmania 04-12-2007, 01:01 AM Game 1 Round 1 goes to............... DUCKS!!!
McDonald19 04-12-2007, 01:01 AM yahhhh
Ducks win.
Hockey Duckie 04-12-2007, 01:01 AM Ducks win game 1! Scotty to the rescue at the end! Yes!!!
BraveSirRobin 04-12-2007, 01:01 AM What an ending. I admit it, my palms were sweating. Great game.
hockeydemon05 04-12-2007, 01:01 AM Hell Yeah!!!
Go Ducks!!!!!!
ExplosionsintheGine 04-12-2007, 01:02 AM Wow, good job Kim Johnson, I hope Backstrom slaps the **** out of you...
snarktacular 04-12-2007, 01:03 AM I mostion that stalbert is limited to two complaints about the 4th line per thread. Including any retort to a poster that further emphasizes how crappy the line is/how much better it would be with anyone who was scratched.
Just so he can gripe a little, but not so much that it gets as repetitive.
snarktacular 04-12-2007, 01:04 AM Teemu shows his class again by thanking the fans, his teammates, and Backstrom. How can you not root for him to get a cup?
Ducksforcup 04-12-2007, 01:04 AM WOOHOO!!! Great, solid win! THAT'S WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT!
That garbage goal was great lol. :yo:
cmcdmania 04-12-2007, 01:05 AM I mostion that stalbert is limited to two complaints about the 4th line per thread. Including any retort to a poster that further emphasizes how crappy the line is/how much better it would be with anyone who was scratched.
Just so he can gripe a little, but not so much that it gets as repetitive.
I second that.
Hockeyfan02 04-12-2007, 01:05 AM Nice win by the Ducks. This is going to be a very tough series and you have to take advantage of breaks like the one on the 2nd goal. If the Ducks control play like they did most of the game tonight, they should win this series.
Hockey Duckie 04-12-2007, 01:06 AM A very good compliment to the Wild from Selanne. Selanne gives them a lot of respect by expecting a low scoring series and they have to be better to beat the Wild. Good win, good words, and gonna be a good series. Backstom has me sold on awesome goaltending.
cmcdmania 04-12-2007, 01:07 AM I like how the Ducks/Wild game had the least amount of goals scored. Shows something about our defense... and possibly goaltending.
soya_sauce_chicken 04-12-2007, 01:11 AM 1 down boys 3 more to go
Let's win this series
TeMoZ 04-12-2007, 01:11 AM I'd like to see Jiggy in game 2.
stalbert1 04-12-2007, 01:12 AM Sweet Victory!!
Thank God no Ot since the coach made the mistake of dressing the a very week lineup. Imagine 2 overtime periods and no 4th line.....Yikes...
GO DUCKS!
byungshin34 04-12-2007, 01:13 AM I'd like to see hitting for the entire game next time.
snarktacular 04-12-2007, 01:13 AM Penner's already gotten a healthy start on his playoff beard. The Ducks did a good job controlling most of the game.
Backstrom did well. I knew he had a great regular season, but you sometimes wonder how they'll do in the playoffs. We did a good job kind of getting in his face to lead up to that winning garbage goal. It's just what you have to do when the goalie's so locked in.
It is interesting that our game was so low scoring compared to Dallas/Vancouver. Who saw that?
McDonald19 04-12-2007, 01:15 AM Bryz is a funny interview...
Duckstudd269 04-12-2007, 01:19 AM Sweet Victory!!
Thank God no Ot since the coach made the mistake of dressing the a very week lineup. Imagine 2 overtime periods and no 4th line.....Yikes...
GO DUCKS!
seriously dude shut up, god do you ever stop *****ing? I've tried to ignore it, but god now it's just plain annoying. It went from a good debate to what now seems like a little baby whining.

Sorry I know the truth hurts but Im not joining the stach fan club. The 4th line was lousy and if we had gone to overtime may have cost us victory.
You shut up!:naughty:
I second that.
Or you could just put him on ignore like I have
Nice win boys, too bad I didnt make it home from work in time to catch the end of it on Sopcast
Will content myself with the Dallas/Vancouver game instead
So if Giguere is good to play game 2, who gets the start?
Its kind of stink to Bryz to sit him after winning an important playoff game
Ducksforcup 04-12-2007, 01:27 AM Or you could just put him on ignore like I have

I say play Bryz. Play with the winning lineup.
That was a good game, even though I had to share the TV with a bunch of Canucks fans I had the luxury of leaving early knowing that my team won.
Randall Graves* 04-12-2007, 01:28 AM Stalbert would rather see a softy like Shannon get blown off the puck and turn it over at the blueline. How many 4th lines play critical minutes in the 3rd period of the playoffs anyways?
Ducks dominated most of this game, Backstrom was unbelieveable. If we keep getting this many odd man rushes we'll score goals. That pass by Getzlaf to Penner was ALOT harder than it looked, absolutely perfect pass. Dustin Penner is built for the playoffs he used great positioning on Jonsson on that play.
Gutsy call by Carlyle going with Ilya, maybe he'll just stick with him as long as he keeps winning.
McDonald19 04-12-2007, 01:33 AM Sorry I know the truth hurts but Im not joining the stach fan club. The 4th line was lousy and if we had gone to overtime may have cost us victory.
You shut up!:naughty:
The 4th line did their job, they threw some hits in limited ice time.
Stop complaining about something that can't be fixed. Shannon and Thornton wouldn't have made a difference. Marchant is the only one who can and he is injured, so get over it.
DucksWon'07 04-12-2007, 01:34 AM Goalie debate? Bryz played solid, not great but did what was called upon him. I just hope Giggy's situation gets cleared up soon so we can have the "luxurie" of a goalie contravercy.
I look for Moen to have a good series. The shut down line seems to be getting a lot of playing time and Moen is the most willing to attack the goal. I'm calling a 3+ goal series from Moen (here's hoping!).
Sorry I know the truth hurts but Im not joining the stach fan club. The 4th line was lousy and if we had gone to overtime may have cost us victory.
You shut up!:naughty:
I really hope you are not involved with any kind of hockey team coaching :shakehead.
Randall Graves* 04-12-2007, 01:38 AM And to those that say the Ducks defense is not as good as Minnesotas...Minnesota turned the puck over alot more often than we did. Pronger and Niedermayer were inflappable almost everytime they were on the ice. Honestly, besides the breakaway Gaborik wasn't much of a factor tonight. The shutdown line was fantastic, Rob Niedermayer always seems to show up once the playoffs start.
As this series goes on I think that Backstrom is going to be seeing alot more traffic and guys sitting right on top of the crease.
And the hitting was all Ducks tonight. For whatever reason Minnesota doesn't care to do it, if the Ducks do this every night they have a good shot at wearing the Wild down, especially their blueline.
Goalie debate? Bryz played solid, not great but did what was called upon him. I just hope Giggy's situation gets cleared up soon so we can have the "luxurie" of a goalie contravercy.
I think Bryzgalov played a really solid game as well, if he keeps winning why not keep him on goal. The goal he let in, he could have had but yeah, not everyone is perfect. He did a lot of good positioning all game long, waiting for traffic in front of the net to clear before going down and stuff like that.
I also hope Giguere is in good condition, you never know when he might come in handy.
TeMoZ 04-12-2007, 01:40 AM x-mo + ice hockey = :amazed:
McDonald19 04-12-2007, 01:41 AM So if Giguere is good to play game 2, who gets the start?
Its kind of stink to Bryz to sit him after winning an important playoff game
Bryz has earned the next start. Giguere needs to get back to practicing with the team and get himself focused on the playoffs (if his son is ok).
Duckstudd269 04-12-2007, 01:46 AM Sorry I know the truth hurts but Im not joining the stach fan club. The 4th line was lousy and if we had gone to overtime may have cost us victory.
You shut up!:naughty:
yeah I think we all know that you don't like the 4th line we used, but seriously you don't have to complain about it every post. Also I don't really see why you think they sucked. I thought they did well when they were in. Yeah they weren't in long, but they did their job when they were in and they weren't a reliablility. Parros brought physical play, Shannon would have brought none of that.
Jerky Leclerc 04-12-2007, 02:08 AM Back from the game. The crowd was electric and I had a good time. Selanne was awesome and the checking line/Nieds/Prongs totally controlled the game. I can't wait unti Friday.
Spankatola Jamnuts 04-12-2007, 02:16 AM Sweet game. The Wild were efficient and tenacious in their zone and that kept it close, but they were never very dangerous. They are going to have to do something about their offense if they want to win.
I didn't mind the 4th line in this game, they threw some good hits and weren't a detriment. I do have a problem with the 4th line and the 3rd D pair out simultaneously. It happened twice and we were bottled up each time.
Well, I didn't get to watch any of the game. I was able to catch the last 4 minutes of the game on the radio when I rushed out to my car after being in class all night. But, I can't complain when the Ducks win.
Replay's on at 10AM on FSN tomorrow morning, if anyone's interested.
Bryz has earned the next start. Giguere needs to get back to practicing with the team and get himself focused on the playoffs (if his son is ok).
I agree and especially because someone just told me that the "non-life threatening condition" is that his son only has sight in one eye.
Poor Jiggy :(
That has to be a bummer and something very distracting
Davey Duck 04-12-2007, 02:37 AM I agree and especially because someone just told me that the "non-life threatening condition" is that his son only has sight in one eye.
Poor Jiggy :(
That has to be a bummer and something very distracting
Oh crap. If that's true, he's gone from having a future Jiggy in net to a son that probably won't be able to play hockey, especially as a goalie.
Pepper 04-12-2007, 02:44 AM In the AP game report there was a mention that specialist has said the kid will get his sight back.
Ducksforcup 04-12-2007, 02:45 AM In the AP game report there was a mention that specialist has said the kid will get his sight back.
:handclap:
lux_interior 04-12-2007, 03:11 AM Solid game from the Ducks. They pretty much dominated, but the Wild's defensive system, and especially Backstrom, kept it close. That's prolly what you'll see from this series...the Ducks dominate but it will be close 1-2 goal games. Ducks in 5 as Backstrom steals one.
And I'm glad the Wild didn't trap it up too bad.
braincramp 04-12-2007, 03:44 AM I was at the game tonight, and agree with Jerky's assessment.
Bryz looked absolutely at ease and I never saw any uncertainty on his part when defending or handling the puck.
I can recall the number of posters on this board, earlier this season, continually harping on how we must get rid of Jiggy or Bryz. The notion that we can't afford both, or that two high-quality goalies can't live together, or that Bryz is a PR nightmare have clearly been proven false.
Spiral 04-12-2007, 04:06 AM It was at the game, my first playoff game, and what an awesome experience! It was a great, hard fought win! :handclap:

Pepper 04-12-2007, 08:46 AM I kinda hope we put Shannon to 4th line in 2nd game so when he tries to go around Boogard and hits his head in to Boogard's shinpad we don't have to hear all this whining and moaning from Shannon's girlfriend here.
Phantom Dave 04-12-2007, 09:08 AM I didn't get to see the game, couldn't find a feed that worked. But still, awesome result for the Ducks, heres hoping for more of the same on friday.

It will go back once that fnishes
soya_sauce_chicken 04-12-2007, 11:09 AM I believe they said that we woudl probably see jiggy in the next round if we make it.
BUT if Bryz is playing well, ride him all the way to the top baby
this is like last year with Ward/Gerber
theShiba 04-12-2007, 11:22 AM I believe they said that we woudl probably see jiggy in the next round if we make it.

I don't know about taking Bryz all the way though... IMO we over played him last year, which didn't really help much. I say if he is playing good, yeah we stick with him, but if he is struggling we gotta make the switch. In a 7 game series the opposing team is going to figure him out pretty quickly. Making a change might just be the thing that we need. It would also help to keep Giguere fresh too for the next round.
soya_sauce_chicken 04-12-2007, 11:23 AM I just read the LA Times
Jiggy was distraught because his son already had damage in his right eye, and the docs said that his left eye also has some damage
Therefore they thought their child would be blind. The good news that Jiggy got was that his son's Left Eye could possibly be able to see again
No mention of the right, so i'm assuming the poor kid is going to be partially blind already

Davey Duck 04-12-2007, 12:01 PM Bryz's career playoff stats now...
12GP: 7-4, 3 SO, 1.42 GAA, .945 SV%
Here's what I think was learned in last night's game. At least what I learned.
-The Wild will burn you unless you get the puck deep everytime.
-The Ducks can hit the Wild and take them off their game.
-The Moen, Niedermayer, Pahlson line will play a huge part in this series.
-Backstrom is scary good, but still a rookie basically. Time to limit his movement and get into that crease, see what he's got mentally. Perry was doing a good job at this.
Any more?
Replay's on NOW on Prime Ticket.

And congrats to Penner for being NHL's 3rd Star (http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app?page=ThreeStarsPage&service=page).

Good list. Backstrom seems to be thrown off his game with traffic and contact with him, so that is a must.
Dirk316 04-12-2007, 04:08 PM I was at the game
First off Parros played a great game despite what Minnie Mouse stalbert is babbling about. He knocked Kim Jonson to the ice with a huge hit, He hit i believe Carney into his own bench with a huge hit and threw 2 other hits that punished Wild players. Also the fact that Boogard didn't go running around like usual was huge.
Pronger and Neids where solid and the kid line is close to exploding. As long as the hitting keeps up this team will only get better as series moves on.
Ryan Shannon forever!!!!`~~~`

LMAO, that's crazy that Luongo goes from finishing with at best a 4.00 GAA to a 1.74 GAA due to nearly 4 scoreless overtime periods.
