Do the benefits of winning the division continue through later rounds?

For instance, if the Ducks and Nashville met in the second round, who gets home ice? The Ducks because we are seeded #2, or Nashville because they have a better record?

Anaheim does. Teams are reseeded according to where they enter the playoffs.

Yeah, the reseeding is all based on seeds, not record. The record will only come back into play in the finals to determine home ice.

Second round would be against the winner of the Wings/Flames I believe

watching the Stars game during the period and they pick the Ducks in a close series and Nieds/Prongs are the deciding factor
also they mentioned our depth

I thought winner of 1-8 plays winner of 4-5, because assuming the top seeds win out that would be the lowest seeded team left?

In the NHL don't they "re-seed" after each round? If 1 beats 8, 2 beats 7, 6 beats 3, and 4 beats 5 the seeds left are 1, 2, 4, and 6. I thought 1 plays 6 at this point and 2 plays 4. I thought that was the difference between teh NBA and the NHL (until this year's rule change in NBA seeding).

IIRC that is correct.

It's not a bracket. It will be reseeded. If Calgary pulls off that upset, which they are definetly capable of with Kipper and Iginla, then the Ducks would face the Flames. Anaheim cannot face Detroit until the conference finals due to them being 1 and 2 in the conference.

if all the top seeds win, the second round would be:

Detroit vs Nashville (1 vs 4)
Anaheim vs Vancouver (2 vs 3)
