The Lowell Devils announced today they have signed D Zach Tarkir to an Amateur Try-Out Contract (ATO).

Tarkir, 22, recently completed his four-year college career at Northern Michigan University. In 151 career games at NMU, Tarkir recorded 14g-35a-49pts and 194 penalty minutes. The Fresno, California native was drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the fifth round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. He led all Wildcats’ defensemen in scoring during his senior season. Who is this defensemen?

Apparently, we're looking to corner the Zach market. If they all turn out like Parise, I've got no problem with that :D

From the title I thought this was a list of signs to look for of the coming of the Apocalypse.

Kid sounds like he has some promise as a fiesty player with some talent, glad to have him aboard. :handclap:

I think he is on the smaller side, but good luck to him.

Are Mark Fraser or Sean Zimmerman "Lowell or Trenton" depth? No. So why is Tarkir? Admittedly, I know little about him, but how can you be so sure?

From what I gathered he loves to learn and has improved a ton every year in college hockey. Worth trying in our system for 3 or 4 years. I'd say similar to Jim Fahey, lets hope he has a smarter head on his shoulders.

According to hockeydb.com, he's neither on Lowell or Trenton anymore.

Does anyone have any further information? It appears he was actually a Devils draft pick a few years ago.

Was at the Cincinnati game and while few Devils played well, he certainly seemed to struggle as much or more than most. It was almost as the Cyclone forwards constantly seemed to find his side when attacking and the Devils spent long periods of time in their own end.

Only David Caruso's play nearly allowed them to escape with a point.

Tarkir has been our best defenseman since he got down from Lowell....

Since this thread was resurrected, I might as well add one thing.

We were playing one of the best teams in the league, and for us to keep the game as close as it was, is just proof on how much the T-Devs have improved. We have a REAL chance in the playoffs.

Actually, Devils held on for a team woefully under-manned (I know that Mills and Pepperall are injured but where is Matthew Rogers?).

Game was not nearly as close as final score indicated. The last two periods were played almost exclusively in the Devils end and only Caruso's goaltending kept it as close as it ended up.

And as for Tarkir, if he's the best defenseman in Trenton right now, that's more an indictment of the play of Wood, Cohen, Shaw and the rest than it is a testament to his play. All looked in over their heads yesterday. Again, the forward group didn't offer much help so they probably looked worse than they should have.

But how many times are they going to allow Dave Caruso to be run without extracting some measure of revenge?

The Devils looked like a very soft team last night.

....Im not even going to try to respond.

God I hate people who go to one or two games and suddenly they think they know how the team is doing.

Rogers is hurt btw.

Ok, first of the game was as close as the final score. Trenton had several real good chances to score and win the game but didnt. I guess you missed some of those passes Bonsignore hit Henkel and some other guys with that could easily have led to goals. Secondly Wood was the guy that didnt cover his man on the winning goal and he was the guy that Cincinnati was blowing around. Tarkir has had better games but he didnt play bad last night at all.

If you think the T-Devs are soft you obviously hadnt seen the last two wins against Elmira, btw the second best team in the division just behind the Cyclones. Five fights in the first game one in the second and a multitude of game misconducts. This team is not soft. Cincinnati has one of the best power plays in the league and are a fast club. you have to play smart, you dont want to play a man down by taking bad penalties, something that Trenton did pretty well last night.

You obviously dont come to many games, Rodgers is on injured reserve and you have posted before that you didnt know if players were still on the team when they are on injured reserve aka Pandolfo, so when you come again go and pay a dollar for a roster that will list the players and their status. By the way arent you the guy that floated the rumor of the Wolfpack coming to Trenton?

Will respond to the major points you make...As for the Cincy game, was not nearly as "close" as you portend it to be. Devils were on their heals most of the last two periods and only Caruso made it possible that they almost stole two points.

As for your second point, you are correct, unfortunately my weekends are pretty full so I don't get the opportunity to get to as many games as I'd like. However, since that game I attended three others. You are correct, the Devils are a bit tougher than they played that game but still are mentally fragile. In the Gwinnett game, they took a needless penalty in OT and then could not manage to kill it off nor make much of an effort to do so.

This by the way, coming off a game in which they were beaten 7-0 the night before.

And, according to the Trentonian, the organization has noticed the lacklustre crowds - which I was soundly lambasted for mentioning in other posts.

As a lifelong hockey fan in the Central Jersey area, I would like nothing better than to see hockey succeed at the Arena and was thrilled with the franchise and the standing room crowds that filled the place the first few years.

Since that time, the way the team and arena have been handled border on criminal negligence.

I would totally respond with info to come back at ya....But its been posted in places ALOT more recent than this.

MUST you resurrect threads?
