Adding more fuel to the fire of his incredibility.
I mean, I can see that some could say that the Pens might catch the Devils. Even possibly the Senators. But to fall to 6th they'd have to be passed by Tampa - who were 10 points behind the Devils when he wrote his blog (now 12 points)!
This guy just doesn't like the Devils. He picked them to miss the playoffs at the start of the season (and picked the Flyers to win the conference). OK, I can see at the start of the season how things could be wildly wrong. But to say the Devils drop 10 points back with 12 games to go? :shakehead

Sorry. I forgot that he was a member here.
NJD Jester 03-16-2007, 12:37 PM This guy just doesn't like the Devils.
Is this news? He's a Flyers fan.
As for the "prediction"...it must have come from the same sources that told him Roberts refused to go to Pittsburgh and Ryan Smyth had re-signed with the Oilers.
Ronnie Bass 03-16-2007, 12:42 PM Sorry. I forgot that he was a member here.
There was nothing wrong with yours, but I did have to delete some that were. :)
Brooklyndevil 03-16-2007, 12:50 PM Hey, there are many who think that the Devils won't go far in the playoffs. And I've read more then a few posts where fans are hoping their team gets the Devils in the first round. I just hope that the team the Devils face in first round feels the same.
TheDevilMadeMe 03-16-2007, 12:55 PM Do you really think Eklund would care if there are posts trashing him?
He seems to relish in the attention.
As for the actual topic, I guess he assumes the Devils won't win another game all season after the injuries? Pretty freaking silly if you ask me.
fortheloveof666 03-16-2007, 02:06 PM The thing that gets me and makes me laugh, is that how many people thought the Oilers were a joke last year? Seriously.
How many people counted the Ducks out immediately too because they had dumped players and had such a young roster?
I just think one reality people in general, be it this guy or anything else, fail to accept is that the NHL playoffs are unlike any other sport there is. Unless you like the whole NCAA tourny because underdogs have fared well. But in a 7 game series anyone has a fighting chance, and if you work hard and play smart you don't need all-star players to make it to a championship. The Oilers lost their starting goalie in the first game of the series, who many claimed carried the team on his back at times to the finals. Well, with a backup guy in they still stretched it to a 7th game and really showed what this game is about.
The Devils are a disciplined, hard-working team with quite a few guys that know what it takes to get where everyone wants to be. I think counting them out is exactly what everyone should want because it only gives us something more to prove, and that extra motivation when maybe the aches and pains are starting to wear you down.
DevFan-RU- 03-16-2007, 02:16 PM Who cares. Playoffs is all that matters to me now. And getting the team healthy and ready for Playoffs is the #1 issue for the Devils coaching staff.
What would you rather want? Some stupid piece of cloth that says you won a Division? Or the greatest trophy of all sports?
Let us hope the Devils take this as motivation to prove Eklund wrong.

INT. DEVILS LOCKER ROOM BEFORE THE LAST GAME OF THE SEASON
Claude Julien: "I know you hurt. I know you're tired. I know this is the toughest, most demanding season you've ever taken part in as professional hockey players. But I'm asking you, just for one more night, give it your all. Give it everything you've got. We MUST....PROVE...EKLUND...WRONG!!!!!"

:biglaugh:
Now that's motivation.
Devilswede 03-16-2007, 03:03 PM Who cares what he says? His opinion is worth jack.
To us it's all about winning. I don't care if the Devils finish 6:th in the Conference as long as they win 16 games in the playoffs. That's what it's all about. That's everybody's goal, whether you're a 1:st, 2:nd or 8:th seed.
NaChOs 03-16-2007, 03:33 PM eklund is a loser
AfroThunder396 03-16-2007, 03:34 PM Any credibility he had just disappeared.
Gunnar Stahl 30 03-16-2007, 04:05 PM you think that is bad you should look at the Tsn power rankings. thtey had the devils 9th this week i know that they havent been the best team this week butt 9th? and last week tehy had tehm 10th!! they heavily favor canadian teams. They have the sens 2nd this week and 2nd last week. ESPN has the devs 3rd this week and last.
Das Uber 03-16-2007, 04:27 PM Everyone hates Dwayne Keith Klessel, he's a fraud. Hockey fans should stop visiting his site and giving him attention.
hemskyforpm 03-16-2007, 04:33 PM Any credibility he had just disappeared.
That's about the 5th time everybody's said that since the deadline.
He's in the minus, now. :D
bense27 03-16-2007, 04:53 PM They will end up in 4th, at the least. (aka. if the pens pass them)
JLHockeyKnight 03-16-2007, 05:03 PM Eh you can predict all you want, but history has shown that for the most part it doesn't matter where you place in the playoffs, what matters is that you make it into the playoffs.
dkball7 03-16-2007, 05:18 PM Eh you can predict all you want, but history has shown that for the most part it doesn't matter where you place in the playoffs, what matters is that you make it into the playoffs.
Actually recent history has shown the opposite. Since 1996, the only team who won the cup as a non-division winner was the 2000 Devils who had the 2nd most points in the Eastern Conference that year. Seeding does seem to matter concerning a team's cup chances.

Those stupid pieces of cloth sure look nice up in the rafters though at least they hold you over till the next cup.I like division championships too.:D

NJ-Trap 03-17-2007, 12:38 AM I'm pretty sure he predicted us to miss the playoffs at the beginning of the year.
Edit: Woops didn't even notice that TB sheets had mentioned that in the first post.
Carry on...
I mean, I can see that some could say that the Pens might catch the Devils. Even possibly the Senators. But to fall to 6th they'd have to be passed by Tampa - who were 10 points behind the Devils when he wrote his blog (now 12 points)!
No, winner of the SE automatically gets 3rd. If Ottawa and Pittsburgh catch the Devils, they finish in 6th. Considering even you admit that "some could say" that those are realistic possibilities it looks like he's not the one without credibility.
That said, you guys will finish in the #2 seed at worst.
MadDevil 03-17-2007, 02:47 AM Well, the Devils did overcome a 19 point deficit to win the division on the last day last season, so anything is possible. If the Devils keep having the injury problems they're having, it's not completely impossible. It's pretty unlikely, but not impossible...
JDevils3 03-17-2007, 09:39 AM No, winner of the SE automatically gets 3rd. If Ottawa and Pittsburgh catch the Devils, they finish in 6th. Considering even you admit that "some could say" that those are realistic possibilities it looks like he's not the one without credibility.

That's not true. If Ottawa and the Pens past the Devils they'ed finish 5th. For the Devils to finish 6th they would have to be passed by Tampa Bay as well.
That being said it feels ridiculous to comment on any things this joke has to say. :shakehead
hebegb 03-17-2007, 10:28 AM No, winner of the SE automatically gets 3rd. If Ottawa and Pittsburgh catch the Devils, they finish in 6th. Considering even you admit that "some could say" that those are realistic possibilities it looks like he's not the one without credibility.

Sorry, the original poster was correct and there is still no credibility. Atlanta occupies the 3rd seed. BOTH Atlanta AND Tampa would have to finish ahead of the Devils for them to drop to 6th.
ThePostman 03-17-2007, 11:47 AM If we made as many predictions as Eklund does we'd have as much success as he does.
Brooklyndevil 03-18-2007, 02:31 PM If this team doesn't start playing better defense, his predicition may come close, figure the 5th spot and probably get the Sens in the first round.
DEVILS ALL THE WAY 03-18-2007, 06:49 PM What's more alarming...
That Eklund is underminding our team and saying we will finish in 6th place OR having our own fans (Sundstrum and Muttley come to mind) ***** and cry about our lackluster performance we've been having the past couple of weeks ???
I pick option #2.
vadvlfan 03-18-2007, 09:45 PM eklund is a loser
He's based in philly & a flyer "insider". Yes, he is full of crap. he took a lot of abuse about his so-called "reliable sources". Flyer fans dislike devils, and their fans, and he is no different.
The Omen* 03-19-2007, 12:24 AM end topic
I think he still has the Flyers to win the division.:handclap:
Heatley4Hart* 03-19-2007, 03:42 AM I duno about you, but if I had the choice I would rather either keep 2nd or fall to 6th cuz 5th/4th is the group of death. Ottawa had a terrible start and hence 8 pts is too much to make up this late to win the division. Buff keeps losing but is collecting OT points in OT regulation losses.
Emmet Otter 03-19-2007, 07:27 AM If this team doesn't start playing better defense, his predicition may come close, figure the 5th spot and probably get the Sens in the first round. This is very true. The way we've been playing with our injured players we could easily fall in the 5th spot.
I gotta admit, for the first time I have never been more worried about our team in the end of a season like we are now.
These next two games will be a true test to see how we hold up til' the end. So hopefully madden/elias will be back soon.
