EliasHanson Brothers 03-16-2007, 02:32 AM Any updates about his injury? Devilsfanatic 03-16-2007, 02:36 AM Any updates about his injury? Out for the rest of the season, maybe the playoffs. Chico Resch 03-16-2007, 02:51 AM And he has Hep again. Central Jersey Devil 03-16-2007, 10:16 AM And he has Hep again. I sincerely hope that was a joke.... ADD-devil950003 03-16-2007, 11:02 AM Out for the rest of the season, maybe the playoffs. Seriously??? that would suck devildan 03-16-2007, 11:38 AM Day-to-day with a groin injury DevilDog 03-16-2007, 11:39 AM Madden and Elias are both day-to-day lol@theHeps bense27 03-16-2007, 04:50 PM And he has Hep again. that wasn't funny at all Parise9_Zajac19 03-16-2007, 08:27 PM Out for the rest of the season, maybe the playoffs. And he has Hep again. :thumbd: That was mean!!! I've hardly been keeping up with this news...Get me all worked up. I mean, I knew the injury wasn't that bad but, Jeepers. :p: 2forsbergaura1 03-18-2007, 01:45 PM any new reports on Elias? this DTD stuff is just not very concrete Muttley 03-18-2007, 01:58 PM Even if he comes back, he will really have no effect on the team, this year at least. I wish during the offseason he goes to a medical specialist to make sure he has no lingering effects of his bout with hepatitis. About 4 years ago, he had a cut on his finger from pulling on his laces when tying his skates, which coupled with wearing warm, smelly gloves created a breeding ground for bacteria. This developed into a serious staph infection causing him to miss several games in 2002. I remember them saying if he didn't act sooner, he could have had his entire hand amputated! He was very lucky. His entire immune system seem to have been compromised over the last several years and I really wish he would go to a specialist and get a second opinion to check it out. Since October, he certainly hasn't been the same player we've come to know. DevFan-RU- 03-18-2007, 02:01 PM Even if he comes back, he will really have no effect on the team, this year at least. As for his health... He already went to a specialist for his Hep. Muttley 03-18-2007, 02:05 PM You do realize he was really picking up his play before his injury. Right? We need him back. He's the captain. As for his health... He already went to a specialist for his Hep. Picking up his play? 1 goal in like 10 games? I know he took care of his hep. That's why I think he should get a second opinion to see if there are any lingering effects. DevFan-RU- 03-18-2007, 02:22 PM A goal and a few assists. All I know is that he was playing very well before getting injured. Hep A doesn't have much in terms of lingering effects, its a virus. To beat it, you simply rest alot and eat a well-balanced diet. Your body develops antibodies, and your immune system beats it. Its kinda like the flu. Once you beat it, its done. You only get the flu again when its a different strain. The NJ Devils aren't the Philly Flyers. They know how to take care of their own, and I'm sure Elias goes in for routine checkups due to the severity of Hep A. I'm certainly not a medical expert, but I have read about secondary infections like Epstein Barr Syndrome, etc. That's why I brought it up in the first place. But if you say he's O.K., then I guess he's O.K. DevFan-RU- 03-18-2007, 02:42 PM Well, he can suffer a relapse. 15% of those who we're infected with Hep A do. But if thats the case, the doctor's would've simply done a blood test, and Lou would've thrown him on LTIR. Because if he had a relapse, then he is done for the season. If he exhibited any of Hep A's symptoms, then the team doc would've done the blood tests and made sure of it. Judging from his injury in the game, it looks like a groin injury. And before injury, he was shooting and doing better. He looked alive out there as opposed to sickly and tired. Muttley 03-18-2007, 03:13 PM He looked alive out there as opposed to sickly and tired. Well, that was a couple of games when he would take the initiative and shoot the puck rather than pass it. He looked good up to the point of that SO game winner vs. Pittsburgh, but then looked lost out their again thereafter, up to the point of his groin injury. Rung it off the cross bar, and even cleared the way for the Rupp goal. Muttley 03-18-2007, 03:19 PM He looked great against Buffalo too. Tough to have a strong, consistant season when the line your playing on changes every night - I would blame his minny slumps on the line and the fact that there always seems to be at least one of them out. As for opinions on his health, our "expert" opinions would likely be better focused on his game. DevFan-RU- 03-19-2007, 05:07 PM So now evertime he goes into any kind of slump, it's a hep relapse? As for opinions on his health, our "expert" opinions would likely be better focused on his game. As I've said before, if he had a relapse, he would be out for a very long time. Its not a case of the sniffles or flu, where you get sick and stay in bed for a few days. It's quite serious and time consuming. So no, his Hep is not affecting him. Something else is. Because if it we're his Hep, he would be on LTIR this very moment. Muttley 03-19-2007, 05:38 PM So now evertime he goes into any kind of slump, it's a hep relapse? umm, no Tough to have a strong, consistant season when the line your playing on changes every night Every night? The EGG line has been together for like 3/4 of the season - I would blame his minny slumps on the line and the fact that there always seems to be at least one of them out. What? The entire line was healthy until Gionta got injured 4 weeks ago. As for opinions on his health, our "expert" opinions would likely be better focused on his game. Which has been horrible all season with a dissapointing 21 goals, which is why people have been trying to figure out what's wrong with him in the first place. :sarcasm: King Rat 03-19-2007, 07:22 PM 65 pts in 68 games is a horrible season? Your expectations are very high for a team that usually plays a low scoring game. Considering the very slow start, he's done well. And if the line was together for this later half, he would likely be in the 80 pts range - Muttley 03-19-2007, 08:12 PM 65 pts in 68 games is a horrible season? Please stop with the "get off his back". It has nothing to with "loving". Get real. It's great what he has done for us in the past, but now that he was awarded a 6 year contract and is the highest paid Devil, and the Captain too, he needs to do better than 21 goals. jerseydevil 03-19-2007, 11:04 PM [QUOTE=jerseydevil;8569045] Please stop with the "get off his back". Have you looked at elias career stats? It's not as if he is scoring a hundred points per year and this year he has dropped of the map...He has 21 goals and 44 assists in 68 games...he has one year at 96 points, one at 81...and this season as his highest point totals ever..Patrik's contributions on the ice go far past points..and I'm sure he would love to score more goals...but I think you are selling his value short... | ||
