Gordon Howe is #1 12-13-2003, 09:35 PM How about a thread where we help Blais get a goalie? That is all we really need to win it all. What do all you Sioux fans think? (We might me in good shape for next year in net, Phillippe Lamoureux of the Lincoln Stars is awfully good and is coming here).

With the way that Jordan Parise has been playing lately, I seriously doubt that Dean Blais will be in any hurry to go out and get another goaltender. He's been nothing short of awesome for UND and he's even taken the starter job away from Jake Brandt.
PhoPhan 12-14-2003, 12:50 PM How has Matt Jones looked?
Gordon Howe is #1 12-15-2003, 04:42 PM Parise is no superstar. He is twice the goalie Brandt is, but still lets in some terrible goals. He sat in juniors for 2 years, that doesn't happen to top-tier goalies. Jordan is doing a great job, though, and I am glad we have him. I hope Blais thanks Zach everyday for coming here though, because without him, there is no Brady Murray or Jordan Parise. Last weekend there was a midget AAA tourney here, with Shattuck at the top of the list. Without Zach, this doesn't happen.
jiggs 10 12-18-2003, 11:42 AM Hey, no love for Jesse Bull? He was the first from Shattack's to come to UND! Just kidding.
UND is set in goal for the next 5 years, with Brandt, Parise, Zeigelmann, and next year little Lamoureux. Zeigelmann has not shown as well as I thought he would, but he hasn't been given the chance Parise has been, either. And their stats in the USHL were about even last year. If he and Lamoureux both pan out as expected, the Sioux are set for several years (finally!!!).
Jacob 12-19-2003, 01:22 PM How's Schneider doing? Is he over that ankle sprain yet?
RokhedCommish 01-18-2004, 08:08 AM I have to disagree somewhat and say that UND does need a better goalie sooner or later. They havent had a goaltender mae it to the NHL since Ed "where's my rye and coke" Belfour and Jon Casey. Although Karl Goehring DOES deserves a shot, and is playing well in the AHL.
Would be nice if we could get a solid young 18 year old top goalie prospect out of the high school ranks, but for some reason we never seem to get one. BTW, i still think Bochenski is the top play maker on the Sioux. Parise is definitely a great young prospect, but has yet to prove to me of his #14 overall pick. Bochenski is easily a diamond in the rough for Ottawa, in being picked in the 7th round.
In any matter, GO SIOUX!

Bochenski was a 7th round pick by the Ottawa Senators.

Well Jordan Parise is looking pretty darn good right now. He has yet to lose a game this season (9-0-2).
BTW, Zach Parise was selected 17th overall. Brent Seabrook of the WHL's Lethbridge Hurricanes was chosen 14th.

What does the guy have to do to prove he is worth being the 17th overall pick. The guy had 61 points in 39 games last year as an 18 year old, led team USA at the WJC as an 18 year old. He wins MVP at the WJC this year with 12 points in 6 games (he has an assist on the last goal), he now has 25 points in 17 games (almost same pace as last year) and is a +22 in 17 games.
But your right, he should have went later :)

Don't get me wrong, I think Parise is a great NCAA player, and really thankful he chose UND; and he did look good in the WJ. But also consider he is playing with some of the best players in the US. On team USA, he had a great line to play with, and then back at UND he has Bochenski, and Murray (who is still underrated a bit), as well as stafford sometimes and Fylling (who is alos underrated).
BTW, anyone else here attending the World Juniors next year at UND?? I have myself a boxsuite reserved already and cant wait to see the games! Although, i have to say Canada will ge their gold next year, but i expect another USA/Canada gold medal game. :)
Gordon Howe is #1 02-05-2004, 02:27 AM I can't believe some people believe in Bochenski! If I were Blais, I would have him on the bench until he learns how to pass. His assists are blown way out of proportion, most are desperation flings at best. If he would pass the puck, he would have twice the points. I feel for Parise having to play with that selfish bum.
