I know we all thought this guy would be putting up 50 and 60 points a season with some offensive flare, but this guy just continues to log huge minutes and play stellar defense every night in difficult situations...Good Job Paul!

I always struggle to like the guy because he's not in the mold of traditional d-men. He rarely takes the body, but positionally he's excellent. He is by far an integral part of this team, and a top 4 on any team in the nhl. I was wrong about martin, and glad he's a devil.

Alright, Devils fans, whoever was dogging him before, chime in now. I know you want to.

I have always liked Martin, and he has done a great job this year. I am glad he is on the team.

50 points would be nice, but as long as he's out producing/performing Jordan Leopold (http://tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/bio/?id=1886&hubname=nhl-avalanche) and Mike Van Ryn (http://tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/bio/?id=1296&hubname=nhl-panthers), I wont complain.

Van Ryn will never be forgiven for his nonaction with the Devils. I'd wish injury to him if I didn't think he was getting paide too much for his services. I'm not an idiot. I know the guy has untapped potential. I just am hoping for him to tank big time for the rest of his life. Am I bitter?

I knew I should have started a Paul Martin +/- watch thread.

Martin has been under-rated and unappreciated all season.

Props to him for really stepping up and contributing the last few games when the D's been shorthanded.

I've always like Martin... you never worry or care about him because he just does his job well. You just dont notice it much.

Pfftt, trade him now for the 2nd or his value will keep going down.

Woah, who ever said Martin was going to get 50-60 points. I just want him to play great defense, which he has been doing.

yea i was at the buffalo game and noticed (cuz unfortunately i cant watch many devils games) how great martin is at creating space and taking the puck out of traffice himself. he has such good stickwork with the puck and also is very quick on his skates and can make quick and shifty turns and moves. he has prolly been our best rushing defenseman this season along with oduya (idk close call between the two). the difference between martin (and oduya for that matter) and rafalski is that rafalski makes great passes on the rush and gets the play started great whereas martin and oduya like to lead the rush themselves. from wat i have seen, greene is a mixture; he can lead the rush himself but he can also make great passes to start it.

Well, I'm just happy that Lou is the GM and decided not to take the advice of many of us in getting rid of Martin.
