Spankatola Jamnuts 12-11-2003, 02:32 PM Obviously Murray was trying to add depth to the top end of our roster so he could deal a few off the bottom and maybe upgrade the defense.
With Comrie out of the picture, do we try the same thing with someone else, or just use what we have to shore up the D? If we're not interested in moving Lupul/McDonald/Chistov/Getzlaf etc. etc. we don't look to have too many valuable assets.
I wonder what Murray's going to do next.
Jshibley 12-11-2003, 02:49 PM The only thing I can think of is if we traded a defenseman curently on the roster plus a prospect(s) for a better defenseman. Maybe a team trying to loose some salary like last year with Ozolinsh.

maybe something with the isles. or the *gasp* devils. langenbrunner and gomez have been reported on the block. i hate langenbrunner, as he killed us in the finals. but i would love to have him. parrish might interst murray.

Whoever said Langenbrunner was on the block seems to be misinformed. I'm not the world's biggest Langenbrunner fan, but Pat Burns has already been trumpeting him for Team USA this summer.
If anybody's on the block from the Devils standpoint, it'd be Gomez and Friesen. But we're still winning, so Lou doesn't have any pressure to blow up the team.

NNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Randall Graves* 12-11-2003, 03:23 PM Who knows,we may still get Comrie the ball is in his court here I think its unethical what Lowe is doing and the fact Comrie comes out and says he had no idea about it until he agreed to a deal with the ducks is BS.
I think Murray could be looking at defensmen maybe a Hamrlik caliber.
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-11-2003, 03:38 PM I don't think we have the wherewithal to get Hamrlik.
I'd prefer a more defensive-minded feller anyway.
soya_sauce_chicken 12-11-2003, 04:19 PM Scott Gomez would be interesting.. no more Friesen...
FacelessButcher 12-11-2003, 04:22 PM Satan or O'neill sound like good choices that could be available
mtyduk8 12-11-2003, 07:32 PM "I talked to (agent Mark Guy) last week when the rumours first came out," Perry said. "He told me there's nothing I could do about it, that there was some talk and that I could be traded.
"He also said that even if Edmonton doesn't happen, then something else could. There were rumours about (Jaromir) Jagr leaving Washington for Anaheim and I was involved in that one, too.
"Other than that, I don't know anything."

Has anyone else heard anything about this?
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-11-2003, 07:35 PM I think I'd rather BM hand Lowe his ransom money than spend 11 mil on Jagr.
We need more heart, not less.
Bobby Ryan Getzlaf 12-11-2003, 08:37 PM Zhitnik might be one we could grab from the Sabres. His salary is pretty large, but he could help out the club.
Hamrlik isn't out of the question either. Milbury or not, he's an RFA with arbitration rights after this year, and he'll likely be traded. Should we get Comrie for the deal, Chistov could get the Hammer. Probably not straight up, but some deal could be Hammered out. I'd think Havelid would go back to replace him on the Isles' blueline, and maybe something else.
Dmitry Yushkevich is also out there. I doubt he'd demand alot of money, and he could be a good addition. He could do well with Ozo.

Word has it the Caps would take on a significant chunk of the salary. He's not worth 11, but he's easily worth, say, 7 or so.

I wonder if they'd want a roster player...
Probably depends on how much salary they'd be picking up. If a palatable amount is reached, they may not even want much of anything at all beyond unloading most of the contract. And I doubt the Caps will make a last minute request for Jagr to pay them $20 million.
lux_interior 12-11-2003, 10:45 PM Is there a coach in NHL history who Jagr has not undermined?
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-11-2003, 11:58 PM I can't see Jagr and Babcock getting along even a little bit.

I think Yushkevich already signed to play in Russia this year and doesn't have an escape clause.

This is the first time I've ever heard of the Ducks being interested in Jagr... I doubt its true.
Jshibley 12-12-2003, 10:34 AM Satan or O'neill sound like good choices that could be available
Sounds good to me....although if we got Comrie a defenseman would be my first choice.
