I am not going to bother putting this into the trade proposal section of the board as I am sure nobody cares.
If Marty goes down, we are screwed. We have little chance of doing anything. Clemmenson is not much helpand doesn't even have experience playing the regular season let alone playoffs. Here is the deal.
To Chicago-Clemmenson(450k)
To NJ-Lalime.(800k)
Before you say it, I think Lalime still has potential. He was blamed in Ottawa for them not winning the cup, when it was the team that didn't score. His numbers were very, very good. I think he has just lost confidence and still has the potential to be a top back-up, which is what we do need. Playing with St.Louis, a lot of good goalies would have had the numbers as bad as he did. He started off on the right foot last week with a shutout in his first game this year. With the money we save on my LA proposal(see trade forum), we could afford the extra 350K. Do you really feel comfortable with Clemmenson as a back-up? I don't think it matters who we have in net, if Marty goes down, as he IS the team, but wouldn't you feelmore comfortable and think we would still have a slight chance with Lalime. I mean, I would rather have Terreri right now.

Lalime actually has solid playoff stats but it's not worth the cap space. Brodeur will play. If Brodeur goes down we're screwed any way you slice it.
Besides Chicago would have zero interest in Clemmensen. They'd be looking for a mid-round pick.

And there was not a salary cap then, so I doubt he would waste the cap space on a non-necessity.
Lalime shutout Vancouver in his first appearance since being recalled from the AHL after back surgery. He is 32 years old, so I don't know if I would use potential.

Absolutely, having a backup that makes more than 450k would just be wasted cap space.

This is something I could see happening. If no other deals present themselves, it wouldn't surprise me the least to see Lou go out and grab a veteran goalie.
The Blackhawks probably wouldn't need Clemmensen to come the other way, but would be happy enough with a mid round pick or prospect.

I agree with the earlier sentiment that if Brodeur goes down, so do the Devils regardless who the back-up goaltender is.
In any case, Lalime's salary may be too much to take on as it is if I recall Irish Blues' numbers correctly.
Overall, I don't think Lou will make a deal just to make a deal. He has said he's happy with the current roster and as long as they are on the same page, I don't think anyone can say "they aren't good enough." They are.

It ain't worth it if Brodeur goes down.

I agree about getting a backup, i've been thinking about it as well.
I'm more inclined to get someone other than Lalime though, he's cursed (why don't we get Felix Potvin while were at it).
If we were getting a goalie from Chicago, I would take Boucher. The guy had like 4 game shutout streak not too long ago. For the 'Yotes no less!
