"The nickname floating around the dressing room for the Devils' second line with 22-year-old Zach Parise, 21-year-old Travis Zajac and 31-year-old Langenbrunner is ZZ Pop, although no one would take credit."
I like it. Better than puzzle or pretzel. Still don't like EGG.

Maybe they should change the top line's name to the CAP line, as in we'll never be able to fit them under the cap this season
Devilsfanatic 02-11-2007, 12:35 PM Finally, a game that I can watch on TV!

boredmale 02-11-2007, 02:14 PM Go Devils, here is hoping you play the most boring game ever and win 1-0 in regulation and get Marty the shut out.
Captain Lou 02-11-2007, 02:14 PM :biglaugh: Sounds like something Gomez would come up with.
No, actually, it was me! (Well almost)
I say ZZ Top. For Zach and Zajac.

We could all grow our beards down to the floor in their honor. You too, DevFan38! ;)
Captain Lou 02-11-2007, 02:16 PM Go Devils, here is hoping you play the most boring game ever and win 1-0 in regulation and get Marty the shut out.

boredmale 02-11-2007, 02:21 PM You wouldn't happen to be an Islander fan, would you? ;)
Today I am a Devil's fan but at roughly 6 o clock i go back to being an Islanders one. I have always said if you actually are routing for the devil's it is fun watching them shut down the other team though(such as i hope the case is today).

Classic.
InsideThePocket 02-11-2007, 04:35 PM So NBC makes no sense to me. I'm in the weird part of NJ where we have 2 of every network channel, the NY and the Philly ones. For some reason, the NYC NBC is playing the Dallas/Colorado game, but the Philly NBC has the Devs game on. Though at least I can watch it for once, which is nice. :)
Devilsfanatic 02-11-2007, 04:38 PM Luckily, I'm living in Providence :)

Jersey Fresh 02-11-2007, 04:51 PM Did Micheletti really just say Tortorella brought back Andre Roy because of his sense of humor???
Captain Lou 02-11-2007, 04:52 PM I don't remember Tampa being this weak defensively in the other games, unless it's just our high-powered attack that has them on their heels.
VegasPete7 02-11-2007, 04:53 PM This PBP guy really makes me miss Doc.
Devilsfanatic 02-11-2007, 04:53 PM Breaking up St. Louis Richards and Lecavalier.....is it worth breaking up Madden and Pandolfo and having two checking lines?
Pandolfo-Dowd-Rupp
Brylin-Madden-Rasmussen
Brylin-Madden
Pandolfo-Dowd
are both very good combinations.
What a BS call
Jersey Fresh 02-11-2007, 04:53 PM In the dictionary under stupid penalty calls, there is a picture of that call.
Even-up call.
Captain Lou 02-11-2007, 04:54 PM That is a ridiculous call.
TheDevilMadeMe 02-11-2007, 04:54 PM Colin White called for showing some emotion. Doesn't he know that emotion isn't allowed in the New NHL?
Captain Lou 02-11-2007, 04:55 PM Even-up call.
Absolutely.
EDIT: Hope John's OK, not in the eye?????
Devilsfanatic 02-11-2007, 04:56 PM Terrible camera angle ****ing idiotic. Oh no not John Madden :( he'll be back I think, he's a tough S.O.B.!! Please be alright Johnny

Feed Me A Stray Cat 02-11-2007, 05:01 PM What a great forecheck on the last play. EGG should be given more leeway to forecheck.
VegasPete7 02-11-2007, 05:01 PM Elias looks a lot better. Any word on Madden from the radio guys? NBC won't tell us crap.
TheDevilMadeMe 02-11-2007, 05:01 PM I can't wait until players finally get over this stupid "it's not manly to wear face shields" mentality.
crashlanding 02-11-2007, 05:01 PM Did he leave under his own power? Or was he carried off? Does it look like he could return? Or does it look like he'll be out for a while.
Boy am I glad Dowd is in the lineup tonight.
pscoln1 02-11-2007, 05:01 PM when i watched the replay it didnt look so much like it hit him in the eye ( IM HOPING ) ....either way im praying he is alright
VegasPete7 02-11-2007, 05:02 PM Was helped off. Micheleti said something about both eyes being closed, towel over his face, and the trainers telling him the steps were coming.
DevFan-RU- 02-11-2007, 05:03 PM Cmon Devils, maintain composure and **** em up.
Captain Lou 02-11-2007, 05:05 PM Our defensemen are getting badly outworked behind the net, causing problems for Marty.....
Captain Lou 02-11-2007, 05:08 PM TB is forechecking like nobody has done to us and we are not handling it, like we didn't know that it was coming.
TheDevilMadeMe 02-11-2007, 05:08 PM Different game after Madden went down. Looks like the Devils are playing like they're worried about Madden...
DevFan-RU- 02-11-2007, 05:08 PM Dammit, the Devs started out really strong and slacked off after Madden's injury a bit...
Cmon! Put the pressure on them and take them out!
crashlanding 02-11-2007, 05:08 PM I think I'm bad luck, since I started turned the game on Madden's been injured and there have been probably 2 NJ shots.
boredmale 02-11-2007, 05:11 PM I've seen a few Anaheim games this year and i swear Brian Hayward has to have the most boring voice in hockey, it practically puts you to sleep.
how are the devils boring?? i'll never understand that
Watching your team play the devils is frustrating because how they slow down the game when they are up. If i have no invested interest in the game and the Devil's are up the game is not exciting and is like watching paint dry and would rather watch a more run and gun style game. That being said if i am cheering for the devils to win(such as today), watching them slow down the other team is fun. I really don't blame the devils for there system because they win with it, but like i said above if you really don't have any emotional interest in the game it can be rather boring to watch, although when you want them to win i can see how it can be entertaining to watch.
pscoln1 02-11-2007, 05:11 PM I think I'm bad luck, since I started turned the game on Madden's been injured and there have been probably 2 NJ shots.
nah i think you would rather watch us win this game then worry about superstition....
MissionHockey 02-11-2007, 05:12 PM Different game after Madden went down. Looks like the Devils are playing like they're worried about Madden...
Thats what I thought too. Elias is really on his game today, he was all over the ice and nearly buried that opportunity off the homerun pass. EGG should see a lot of time today if Madden is out for the game.
Devilsfanatic 02-11-2007, 05:14 PM Man, Hull is SUCH a jackass, he's rifling the puck at a little kid!
MissionHockey 02-11-2007, 05:15 PM Hull wants to make a list of the NHL divers and make it public? Thats a pretty radical idea, but I don't think its going to do anything.
pscoln1 02-11-2007, 05:15 PM Man, Hull is SUCH a jackass, he's rifling the puck at a little kid!
that kid should have made that save to show brett that he still stinks....wishfil thinking :)
The Tampa Bay Lightning are killing hockey.
MissionHockey 02-11-2007, 05:16 PM Even Clement felt sorry for the kid after he ripped that one timer past him.
DevilFisch 02-11-2007, 05:17 PM I can't wait until players finally get over this stupid "it's not manly to wear face shields" mentality.
Agreed. I also can't wait until players finally get over the "it's perfectly alright to dive" mentality Hull was talking about. Hull actually made a good point, I know, I'm shocked too.
Then Hull proceeded to remain manly and fire a rocket at an 8 year old goaltender.
The word manly is a word I fear many people do not know. And I'm not exception.
TheDevilMadeMe 02-11-2007, 05:17 PM Hull wants to make a list of the NHL divers and make it public? Thats a pretty radical idea, but I don't think its going to do anything.
The NHL supposedly was going to do that coming back from the lockout, but well, nothing came of it.
I like to think that Bobby Clark wouldn't let it go through after he signed Floppa. :teach:
MissionHockey 02-11-2007, 05:23 PM The NHL supposedly was going to do that coming back from the lockout, but well, nothing came of it.
I like to think that Bobby Clark wouldn't let it go through after he signed Floppa. :teach:
The only reason I say it won't help is because with teams being so well scouted and most players having good memories of the other teams, most already know who the most infamous divers are. Mentioning Forsberg is a good example, most people know he dives already. No need to be redundant.
Captain Lou 02-11-2007, 05:27 PM I cannot believe that this assclown strader just brought up the whole boring thing. What a jackass. And we wonder why everyone thinks we're boring.
****.
Colin Whites Eye 02-11-2007, 05:27 PM madden is back out there
prospal scores, ties the game at 1
HBK27 02-11-2007, 05:27 PM Holy crap...why can't they just do the play-by-play instead of playing interviews or yapping over the action...and even Tampa's goal. Dammit.

DevilFisch 02-11-2007, 05:27 PM Right pass, right place, right time for the goal: Vaclav Prospal ties it up.
Let's re-take the lead, Devils.
TheDevilMadeMe 02-11-2007, 05:27 PM nice to see Madden back on the ice.
and nice screw up by Rafalski on the goal there... first lose Lecavilier and then jump right in front of Marty's vision trying to get to Prospal.
pscoln1 02-11-2007, 05:28 PM wait IS MADDEN BACK?
ok yea never mind..... he is BACK
Captain Lou 02-11-2007, 05:29 PM I will be shocked if Madden finishes this game. His eye looks like death
VegasPete7 02-11-2007, 05:30 PM This angle sucks.

Yea he looks pretty bad.
DevilFisch 02-11-2007, 05:35 PM John Madden's nose is also continuing to bleed; I believe that's keeping him from being on the ice more often.
Speaking of continuing, NBC's HD feed continues to have audio and visual problems from time to time. It's annoying.
Captain Lou 02-11-2007, 05:35 PM Man, I can't imagine why the Bruins didn't want David Hale. :shakehead
Tao Jones 02-11-2007, 05:36 PM Radio guys saying Madden icing his cheek and that his eye will gradually swell until it shuts. Huge gash.
Good thing next game isn't until Wednesday.
Captain Lou 02-11-2007, 05:37 PM I like the EGG going to the net. It's a nice a refreshing change. They look good today.
ZZ Pops 02-11-2007, 05:46 PM Penalty
I like how the announcers are openly pulling for Tampa. Keep it up, *******s.
DevilFisch 02-11-2007, 05:47 PM A save by Brodeur and we get an argument between Colin White and St. Louis. Prior to all this, there's a penalty called and it's...aaaaaah, crap Colin White with a slash.
PuckStopsHere02 02-11-2007, 05:48 PM Stupid penalty. What does slashing a person in the legs do, other then get you a penalty if the ref sees it?
ZZ Pops 02-11-2007, 05:48 PM Langenbrunner's son needs to yell at Colin White again.
pscoln1 02-11-2007, 05:48 PM colin white is pissing me off....its because of him with his first penalty that madden got hurt....he better stop with this ****!!!
Captain Lou 02-11-2007, 05:49 PM Bad giveaway by Martin.
4check22 02-11-2007, 05:50 PM Damn NBC. Got to watch the entire first period. Then they switched the feed to Dallas/Colorado. I know it isn't NBC's fault. It's the damn affiliate.
DevilFisch 02-11-2007, 05:50 PM Sergei Brylin and John Madden try to make something out of that 2-on-1 shorthanded buuuuuuuut the pass was off. Should have shot it, Sarge.
Captain Lou 02-11-2007, 05:50 PM colin white is pissing me off....its because of him with his first penalty that madden got hurt....he better stop with this ****!!!
The first one was a make-up call. This one, however, was Colin White personified.
VegasPete7 02-11-2007, 05:51 PM Sergei Brylin and John Madden try to make something out of that 2-on-1 shorthanded buuuuuuuut the pass was off. Should have shot it, Sarge.

DevilFisch 02-11-2007, 05:53 PM The idea of passing to the guy with one eye on a timing play was too much for Sarge to pass up.
Heh. Holmqvist read it perfectly, he slid across just as the pass was being made anyhow.
VegasPete7 02-11-2007, 05:55 PM Imagine the lift if he puts it home.
If it was the GWG, the NHL might award us 4 points for this game. They love us, ya know?
DevilFisch 02-11-2007, 05:55 PM Hey Gionta, let's not play kick the puck right in front of Marty, OK?
That's just asking for trouble. Is it just me or do the Devils seem a little flat right now?
Devilsfanatic 02-11-2007, 05:56 PM Elias is just having awful luck this year, bouncing pucks on breakaways and stuff like that.
DevilFisch 02-11-2007, 05:57 PM ****, Tarnasky puts it home. Brodeur, you got to close that hole!

VegasPete7 02-11-2007, 05:59 PM Someone might want to pay attention to that whole LeCavalier-Prospal line.
TheDevilMadeMe 02-11-2007, 05:59 PM Colin White is having one of his worst games of the season. Nice deflection on Marty, jackass.
DevFan-RU- 02-11-2007, 05:59 PM I'm going to stop watching for like 30 minutes.
DevilFisch 02-11-2007, 05:59 PM Damn it, I told you to close that hole! Lecavalier is left roaming and just gets through the legs!
3-1!
Aaaaargh! And if the save was made, NJ goes shorthanded because Zajac felt it was a good idea to hold a Lightning player in front of the ref!
This period just keeps getting worse this period.
Colin Whites Eye 02-11-2007, 05:59 PM 2 cheap goals
awesome
Jersey Fresh 02-11-2007, 05:59 PM That's what you get for completely sleepwalking through the entire period
Captain Lou 02-11-2007, 06:00 PM We have been getting killed all game behind our own net. Three goals because of it. These defensemen are playing very soft today. Except White, who is just plain stupid sometimes.
TaiMaiShu 02-11-2007, 06:01 PM Shake it off and play hard in the third.
crashlanding 02-11-2007, 06:02 PM Oh my god, this guy doing the color is soooo biased. He just said NJ is backing off despite being down by two goals...WHEN DID THEY BACK OFF MOTHER****ER??? Tampa scored with like 2:30 left in the period and the next shift the Madden line had it down low for the entire time.
I can't listen to these *******s.
Madden is now wearing a visor
Captain Lou 02-11-2007, 06:02 PM Well at least the TB fans won't be able to call us boring after we score 3 in the third to beat them.
bense27 02-11-2007, 06:03 PM they suck today. I can't even watch this **** anymore.
but I really feel bad for Elias. He has had two breakaways. His confidence is going down the *******.
Captain Lou 02-11-2007, 06:04 PM Oh my god, this guy doing the color is soooo biased. He just said NJ is backing off despite being down by two goals...WHEN DID THEY BACK OFF MOTHER****ER??? Hey crash..."Serenity Now!"
dkball7 02-11-2007, 06:04 PM I hate to sound Muttleyesque here but Elias misses a pretty easy chance for a goal and then the Lightning score 2 in a row. Yes the puck "bounced" on him but come on, he's got to bury that thing.
midg14* 02-11-2007, 06:05 PM Well at least the TB fans won't be able to call us boring after we score 3 in the third to beat them.

He has no confidence, it is obvious. However, on the bright side, he is turning the corner and driving to the net with the puck. I haven't seen that out of him all year. He has the speed to get around almost every defenseman in the league.
Now if we could only get Gionta to do the same thing. Did he forget how he scored 48 goals last year? All he does now is slap it from the circle...take it to the net Brian!!!!
Captain Lou 02-11-2007, 06:12 PM Brett Hull is such a ****** bag. How anyone could have rooted for this piece of **** is beyond me. Dick Ebersol should be embarrassed that he hired him and is actually paying him.
Captain Lou 02-11-2007, 06:18 PM Let's do it!
bense27 02-11-2007, 06:19 PM Gionta, get another hat trick to force OT!
Captain Lou 02-11-2007, 06:19 PM Way to start guys. :shakehead
DevilFisch 02-11-2007, 06:19 PM Devils win the faceoff to start the third period, I suppose that's the first step.
Brian Rafalski taking a hooking penalty is 3 steps backward.
Letting Dan Boyle take a shot from the point and letting Brodeur get screened is about 5892389235 steps backward.
4-1 Tampa Bay.
Somewhere, Ted Nolan laughs and writes a note to Claude Julien that the loss is OK because it's by 3 goals.
ZZ Pops 02-11-2007, 06:19 PM **** This.
pscoln1 02-11-2007, 06:20 PM Totally NOT our day.....

Unthinkable 02-11-2007, 06:22 PM Missed most of the game so far. Whats happened to the Devils in this one?
Captain Lou 02-11-2007, 06:22 PM Man these Lightning are SOOOOO boring. They are killing hockey. 4-1 games are the worst, what a snoozefest.
DevFan-RU- 02-11-2007, 06:23 PM I tuned in by accident and just saw them score a PP goal...
Seriously... can anyone explain to me how this change of momentum occured?
Captain Lou 02-11-2007, 06:23 PM Julien needs to open this up and let these guys forecheck balls to the wall.
TheDevilMadeMe 02-11-2007, 06:24 PM Missed most of the game so far. Whats happened to the Devils in this one?
bad penalties (both stupid by the Devils and lame by the refs), bad defensive breakdowns by players like Rafalski and Lukowich. And the Lightning have scored on every good scoring chance they have gotten. Brodeur hasn't been bad on any goal, but he also hasn't really robbed them at all either.
Devils dominated the first 10 minutes, then Madden got hit in the face with a puck and the Devils just went flat... they havne't been able to get it back.
DevFan-RU- 02-11-2007, 06:24 PM I know we cant win every game between now and playoffs... but to lose like this is awful.
DevFan-RU- 02-11-2007, 06:25 PM Julien needs to open this up and let these guys forecheck balls to the wall.
Exactly, at this point, playing conservative D is counter-productive. We need to crash the net hard and play mad-minute style.
Hammer, hammer the puck into their net hard.
crashlanding 02-11-2007, 06:25 PM THEY NEED A LINE CHANGE!!!!
has this guy ever watched a hockey game before?
Jiri Bicek 02-11-2007, 06:25 PM Now all we're going to hear is **** about the Devils system and not opening up
Captain Lou 02-11-2007, 06:26 PM You know what is sad?
The fact that Matt Loughlin and Randy Velischek are 100x the announcers that these two are.
DevFan-RU- 02-11-2007, 06:26 PM Yay, another PP we wont capitalize on! NIIIIICEEE!
Jersey Fresh 02-11-2007, 06:28 PM what an awful performance. Zero drive, it doesn't even look like they're trying.

Our PP is ****ing pathetic.
DevFan-RU- 02-11-2007, 06:29 PM what an awful performance. Zero drive, it doesn't even look like they're trying.
They were for the first 10 mins. Then Madden got hurt, and everything went downhill.
What bugs me is, as good as Maddawg is, him sitting out should not have affected the team like that.
All that resulted was a bunch of penalties against, and a disaster.

Thanks for the quick update here! Don't know what happened mentally on the goal where Hale played his man and Lukowich lost his check behind Brodeur.
DevilFisch 02-11-2007, 06:30 PM Can a team get flat in the middle of a game? Because we're seeing it today. Reminds me of the Florida game except it started after TB tied it up in the second.
That's not a good thing.
DevFan-RU- 02-11-2007, 06:33 PM I predict a massive Devils comeback in the last 10 minutes. All its going to take is one goal to open the floodgates.
Jiri Bicek 02-11-2007, 06:33 PM What looked like a promosing sports afternoon for me has been shot down in about 15 minutes.. ****!

It can be directly attributed to our inability to handle their forecheck. They came at us with 3 players and we couldn't clear the puck at all. It was just a matter of time for this to happen.
crashlanding 02-11-2007, 06:35 PM Gee I wonder when NJ is going to start opening it up and forechecking. :shakehead
Jersey Fresh 02-11-2007, 06:36 PM As if the game itself wasn't bad enough we've had to endure these jackass announcers badmouth the Devils 'system' every five seconds and hold up the Lightning like some kind of beacon of 80's firewagon hockey or something. :shakehead

I know that's part of it, but the TB forecheck has nothing to do with NJ doing very little on offense. They started so well in putting shots on Holmqvist and forcing TB to play more defense. Now? They're about as aggressive as a teddy bear.
TheDevilMadeMe 02-11-2007, 06:40 PM wow, these announcers might even be more biased that ESPN/Disney's announcers doing the Stanley Cup finals with the Disney-owned Ducks.

"The Devils rely too much on the trap."
lame

Amen to that. We don't even have 1 of these a month and people complain like we just lost game 7.
TheDevilMadeMe 02-11-2007, 06:50 PM I love how when the Devils don't pressure on D, they are "playing too passively to get turnovers," but when Tampa doesn't pressure, they are "collapsing around the goalie, which makes it really hard for the Devils to get shots."

The difference between being in the lead and trailing.
When you are losing, you need to put extra pressure on the puck.
When you are winning, you need to protect your goalie and prevent good scoring opportunities.
OT---Dallas still uses the pedophile song...I thought the league banned it?

My post was sarcastic because NJ had all three forwards below the goal line forechecking. I mean you don't stop playing smart hockey because you're behind. If you're at the end of a shift, get it deep and change, if they have full control of the puck in their zone and space don't send everyone full speed at the puck carrier.

One loss and go from being a possible 1 seed to not even winning the division? Gimme a break. Sure we played like ****, but we have our tonic coming in on Wednesday.

DevilFisch 02-11-2007, 06:57 PM Everyone has got to stop their ****ing *****ing and moaning. You cant win every god damn game. We lose one game and you guys act like we blow the big one.
You're right. In the big picture it doesn't mean much.
That said, how the Devils lost is the source of my frustration. This isn't like the San Jose or Anaheim games where in they tried their best and just couldn't get it done. Nor is it like a shootout loss wherein the Devils at least did well enough to take the other team the limit. I believe the four Lightning goals could all have been avoided if the Devils played smarter.
Still, you're right. The sun will still come up tomorrow.
Devilsfanatic 02-11-2007, 06:59 PM I don't like to make excuses but this was a Sunday afternoon 3:30 game, it's an odd time for the Devils, a very odd time. They've had just one Sunday game and that was against the Rangers at 7, so still it's 7 but this is an awkward start for the Devils.

Of course you don't stop playing smart, but you have to open things up, pinch and get some hitting going which will open up space, which is exactly what Tampa did all game.
Which we did none of the three in that 3rd period.

Generally you are right. it was the same with buffalo fans, they lost some and the already talked them out of the playoffs or whatever..... stupid.
but.
pittsburgh is 7 points behind with one game in hand... that's not really much and as the pens are quite on a run... could get interesting

well the Pens have been playing extremely well lately. I mean, I know just one loss isn't going to let them catch us but if we get on any sort of bad streak, they will be extremely close.

And so are we... we were 7-1-2 in our last 10 till today. They play no defense at all. They will never be able to keep up with us for that reason alone, let alone overtake us.

good point. I think I am just mad/worried because I haven't seen them play like that in a LONG time. I just want to make sure they won't play like that ever again.
DevFan-RU- 02-11-2007, 07:26 PM My problem with this game was how they gave up so early. A loss I can handle, but when you start out dominating, and then somehow go flat... well... geez!
But yeah, let's move on from this. You cant win em all.
Didnt this happen last year before our streak? We had a good run, then lost a few games, then came back and really tore things up?

Hey, I understand totally. I have watched this game for too long to get all pissed off about one bad (albeit, terrible) game. I just don't want you to start saying foolish things like that we aren't gonna win the division, or we can't catch Buffalo.
Over an 82-game schedule, we are the best team in our division, and at worst, the #2 team in the conference. I firmly believe that. Today, we weren't. It happens.

Well put.
Besides, we play the Canadiens on Wednesday! You know how much they love us.
TB Sheets 02-11-2007, 07:41 PM Honestly, the offense looked well out of synch today. I noticed a few opportunities where the EGG line crossed around the blueline just inside the offensive zone. A TB defender would poke at it and the Devils'd lose it. When in synch, there usually seems to be someone there pick up the loose puck in the offensive zone like that.
A little more synch to the offense leads to more chances. More chances early on leads to TB not forechecking quite so aggressively. In other words, it changes the whole flow of the game. No offense also means the other team's D doesn't feel the pressure and are comfortable to step up. Often, the Devils would make them pay for such gambles with at least an opportunity. Not today though.
Oh well. Sometimes you just come out flat.
frankiedue 02-11-2007, 07:49 PM I just got back from the game... just got some beef with colin white:
It's become more clear that Colin White is just horrible and overpaid. For example, 1st period, he tried to flatten some lighting player near the sideboards in the neutral zone, and white was the one who went down. He gets up and goes after the lighting player and throws a punch that misses and gets a roughing penalty. Just plain stupid. Then he takes another supid retaliatory penalty in the 2nd period. He was also the defenseman that stood around the net and watched prospal walk into the slot uncovered to score the 1st lighting goal.

parker1313 02-11-2007, 08:08 PM A bad game that the Devils stopped playing but have to give credit to Tampa as they outworked us. Honestly think they need Cam back in the lineup for that couple of shifts spark with his hustle and hitting to get the crowd into the game. It seemed like a boring game in which Tampa controlled rather then the Devils being the home team .
Other then that a couple of days off will help them get their heads back into it as maybe this is a game in which they needed to lose for them to refocus as they need a full 60 minute effort. Theyy haven't played a full game in a while with a dominating game .
bense27 02-11-2007, 08:19 PM They also haven't played that bad of a game in awhile. I am sure this was a huge wake-up call though
elias026 02-11-2007, 08:20 PM why is everyone so excited to play the Habs?
because Brodeur is godly against them, and habs have been playing really bad as of late. Devils hav Mtl number and its always fun to hear mtl fans come up with excuses after they lose.
Jared Ramsden 02-11-2007, 08:24 PM They also haven't played that bad of a game in awhile. I am sure this was a huge wake-up call though
Agreed....this season is so long, there are going to be peaks and valleys....Devils were due for stinker at somepoint....Sunday afternoon isn't always the easiest time to play....No excuses for the loss, but as long as they bounce back against the Habs, no harm done....
Captain Lou 02-11-2007, 08:28 PM Just for fun, I went over to the TB board....would you believe--not 1 comment about how boring we are. And only 1 comment on the trap. What a shock! :shakehead

I can't wait for Wednesday's game against the Habs. There's no better feelling then to trash-talk my friends at la cage au sport. Every time N.J. scores, I go ******* and it just pisses everybody off SOOOOOOOO BAD :biglaugh:
P.S. One of the best moments in my life was the last game of the year (last year)VS the Habs, in Montreal, were we came back from 3 goals down... THAT WAS AWESOME !!!!
(I almost got the beating of my life by 20 die hard Habs fans for trash talking a little to much, but I just couldn't resist)

Yes. In my opinion, Cam needs to always be in the lineup. Rass is useless. He doesn't hit, nor can he fight. Granted hes creates some offense, rarely does it really help. Cam is a liability, how? I've watched the majority of his games, and rarely does he hurt the team. If he goes off, he more likely than not, brings someone with him. He even draws penalties at times. No one gives him a chance. When he was in the lineup for a good period of time, he was improving. He made some decent passes, and almost had a goal in front. Give him a chance. It isn't the 4th lines job to score. Leave that to EGG, PZL-ZZPop. Although Madden, Pandolfo and Brylin are the shutdown line, they get plenty of scoring chances. We don't need the 4th liners to score, we need them to hit and create a spark for the team. I'll never understand why people are the down on the kid. He has more heart than most players, give him a chance.
Easton 02-11-2007, 08:44 PM I just got back from the game... just got some beef with colin white:
It's become more clear that Colin White is just horrible and overpaid. For example, 1st period, he tried to flatten some lighting player near the sideboards in the neutral zone, and white was the one who went down. He gets up and goes after the lighting player and throws a punch that misses and gets a roughing penalty.
Check my avatar for reference. :)
Unfortunate game today. A couple goals Marty could have stopped like the first one, but I'll give credit to the Lightning for a quick bang-bang play. The other goal from behind the net when Marty couldn't find the puck should have been his.

I know exactly how u feel after we beat mtl, Especially when your surrounded by hab fans.
that was amazing when we came back like that, i was at that game with 2 mtl fans there were buggin me all game, how mtl was winning but when we won, it shut them up.
DEVILS ALL THE WAY 02-11-2007, 08:53 PM T.B. just looked faster and hungryer then we did. Our offense was invisible today compared to the 4 or 5 last game we played. We got the proof today that we need reinforcement at the back end. Let's just hope Lou pulls some kind of miracle and lands a solid #2/#3 defencemen. I don't want to bash the kid, but David Hale just doesn't look ready enought right now for a full time spot.
Let's give Brian Leetch a call :dunno:
wdhitch 02-11-2007, 08:54 PM Well at least the TB fans won't be able to call us boring after we score 3 in the third to beat them.
Yeah... how'd that work out for ya....
When ahead, the Devils play the trap and it's STILL BORING... not to rub salt in the wound... hope Madden is ok. Thanks for the 2 points.
Jamie1 02-11-2007, 08:56 PM Let's give Brian Leetch a call :dunno:
Please no he hasn't played all year and would be worthless.

Your sig says it all!
Since your 2nd post ever was this enlightening, I can only imagine how intellectually pleasing your first one was.

That's my all-time favorite Devils game. Not just because we came back to win it, but we won the division in the last game of the season against some difficult odds. Unbelievable.
TaiMaiShu 02-11-2007, 08:59 PM Please no he hasn't played all year and would be worthless.
Yea but it would piss the Rangers off!

It would but I would only do it if we were playing them in the playoffs.

lots of bad passing and turnovers tonight.
DevFan-RU- 02-11-2007, 10:22 PM On the brightside, us losing today still screwed the Rags over.
