Easton 02-10-2007, 07:18 PM Out of the blue (that's three unintentional rhymes!), but this just popped into my head. With all due respect, I could manage to move on from the day Marty and Elias decide to hang up their skates, or if Gomez was lost to free agency. But one inevitable event I feel uneasy about facing is the day Lou decides it's his time to leave (more likely, he'll continue working until he drops dead).
What type of new management would we have to face following Lou's departure? Could we be left dealing with a GM similar to Chicago's Wirtz? Or even worse one that rents players here and there without regard to team chemistry like the Rangers (pre-lockout)?
I think I remember it being mentioned that Lou's son, Chris, the current GM of the Lowell Devils, would eventually take over. Any evidence of this claim? What's the guy like?
Depending on his family history, Lou could be living out the last few years of his life. Right now he's 64.
I'm just looking towards the future of the Devils, and while I love Marty, Elias, and Gomez, I can't imagine Devils hockey without Lou. Regardless, I'm sure Lou will leave this team in good hands. So for Lou's health, let's hope the team continues reeling in cups. Here's to much success and less stress.
Long live Lou!

DF, I feel betrayed by your avatar. NBA? Isn't this league the antichrist to the NHL?

Not at all, baseball is. The NBA is a pretty good league, and is better run than the NHL. Plus I'm a huge Raptors fan, have been since 95, I prefer hockey of course, but I gotta represent my Canadian side a bit ;)

I didn't want to say anything about your avatar, but it is an insult to Lou Lamoriello, the New Jersey Devils, me and Al Pacino.

"Scholars maintain the translation was lost centuries ago."
"No. I'm pretty sure it means 'Saint Diego.'"
"Agree to disagree."
We're just going to have to agree to disagree on this one, DF. The NBA is the most worthless 2 hours on television. I can only imagine how boring it would be to pay money and watch it live. Keep your Raptors. I'll watch my Cubbies lose for another century.

Haha. alright man, I guess not everyone can like the same stuff. I like baseball too, I've seen both Jays championships happen even though I had to be in bed :D
DevFan-RU- 02-10-2007, 08:00 PM I still cant figure out how a sport decided by technical fouls and gang fights is still popular. :dunno:
There is no defense in that sport. Its just a boring scorefest with a foul shot every now and then.
Go Devils, Go Mets, Go Giants. :)
bense27 02-10-2007, 10:49 PM Go Devils, Go Yankees, Go Giants. :)
fixed
Ronnie Bass 02-10-2007, 11:07 PM Chris Lamoriello.
He is the GM for the Lowell Devils, he's obviously being groomed to take over for his father.
DevilFisch 02-10-2007, 11:07 PM The New Jersey Devils without Lou Lamoriello?
That is something I really don't want to think about. Would David Conte even be there? Could Chris fit in some ridiculously large shoes? Can anyone show as much integrity, be in touch with his team, stay so quiet as to not "play his hand," and be so adept in player and team management as Lou has?
I don't want to think about it. I don't like the answers I have.
AfroThunder396 02-10-2007, 11:24 PM David Conte!
I agree, Conte is the only concievable person who grasps Lou's cleverness and ability to spot players that make his team so dominant. I don't want to pass judgement on Chris, but I think Conte is the heir to the throne.

I'm from Toronto too and I love the Raptors, but I love the Devils more.
fIREnIcE 02-10-2007, 11:49 PM Id rather watch the rags win another cup than watch basketball, yeah i said it. i wouldnt wish a basketball game on my worst enemy, ti really is athe anti-hockey.
In reference to the real question, I highly doubt CL will be taking over....First off I have to imagine thatn Lou really is and always has been in charge of the moves for all the Devils affiliates. And second, Albany/Lowell is not trated like most AHL clubs, in that it is run exactly how an AHL franchise should be run, for the big squad!! When was the last time BEFORE this season a move was made to bulster up the farm. The only one i can think of the the rehume/shultz/other scrub deal last season for ferrence and that was for cap and roster spots. Thus leading me to think Chris is more of a face with a name or puppet if you wanna be a d**k about it:sarcasm:
JerryGigantic 02-10-2007, 11:52 PM Go Devils, Go Mets, Go J-E-T-S, JETS, JETS, JETS! :)

I'm a basketball fan and I really dislike baseball. I'm a Rockets fan. Raptors have made a nice team since the Carter era ended. I thought they were crazy for taking Villanuava(sp?) But that Ford trade was perfect for them.

Lou's Koolaid 02-11-2007, 09:53 AM Please God aka LOU don't ever let us turn into the Islanders I think we'll be ok it looks like Lou's going to keep it in the family and thats a good thing.;)

That's if Conte actually wants the position. Who knows if he wants to deal with the added stress and time at the office that comes with being a GM. I could see him being content as being the best scout in the league and sticking with it.
Chris Lams seems like the logical choice.
nj666 02-12-2007, 12:56 PM we could always do what the islanders did and make scott clemmenson the next gm!
David Puddy 02-12-2007, 04:00 PM David Conte is less than six years younger than Lou Lamoriello. David Conte was born August 3, 1948, and Lou Lamoriello was born October 17, 1942.
Elias to Parise 02-12-2007, 04:26 PM Devils, Yankees, Giants, Basketball sucks
i like your style..
njdevils19 02-12-2007, 10:42 PM lou does almost everything right.
i am going to assume, atleast hope, that he will also do right in picking his replacement.
if lou finds a way to somewhat replace marty when that time comes, then he is a god. and that means he will never die.
