Back by popular demand.

I'm putting up some links to the transaction pages to the various minor pro sites. Many now former NCAA players have recently signed with various minor pro leagues in addition to the NHL.

So here's the transaction page links to the: AHL (http://www.theahl.com/AHLStatistics0304/transactions.html), ECHL (http://www.echl.com/cgi-bin/ppublic.cgi?action=transactions) and the
UHL (http://www.theuhl.com/cgi-bin/transactions.php).

Also, here's InCH's List of Pro Signees (http://www.insidecollegehockey.com/7Archives/News/prosignees_0231.htm) broken down by league. Note: they may be missing a few on the list, but it's a good one to check out anyway.

He did sign with an ECHL team for the end of last season. I don't know anything about him signing with Springfield but it is certainly possible and in fact probable, he deserves to be playing in the AHL. The link that you have still mixes in all of the try out contracts from last year with the contracts for this year.

Glencross combines grit and physical play with some scoring touch. He led the Seawolves in both scoring (21G, 13A - 34 pts) and penalty minutes (79). If you want a more detailed report I'll be happy to put one together for you later.

This time of year many NHL teams' scouts, and even some GMs are checking out the NCAA crop (drafted or not). They like to see him them in post-season since it's close to FA time and the draft. Also, the level of competition/intensity of play is higher than in the regular season for obvious reasons.

Alaska-Anchorage was one of the biggest surprises of the WCHA Final Five. No one thought they would be there, let alone beat Wisconsin to get there. Glencross and especially senior goaltender Chris King were two of the best Seawolves players in the tourney.

I wouldn't consider him an odds on favorite to win the hobey. The last 2 hobey winners have been from the WCHA, and as much as it's not supposed to influence the decision, I'd be surprised to see another WCHA player win it. However, I'd Junior Lessard of UMD has a much better chance. There is more than just hockey skill that goes into the Hobey, one of them being character. Counterfeiting 20 dollar bills doesn't say much about one's character.

that being said, look for someone out east to take the hobey this year, IMO

No offense, but unless there's something to back it up, such as link to a published story or made official, it's considered a rumour and thus holds no weight here with the majority.

That said, the only thing I have heard as I've already mentioned about three times, is that according to the UMD broadcasters during the Webcast of the West Finals between UMD and DU, the Lessard deal was/is all but a done deal. The negoatiations were supposedly already completed by the undisclosed NHL team and Lessard. The only thing that was left to do was Lessard's signature on the dotted line..

A top level program like North Dakota won't even miss a beat. Of course they will hurt losing those two, but they will have no problem filling in the open holes. Just the freshmen coming in can come awful close to filling the holes. With Zajac, Kaip and Spirko all being very good offensive players, and then stepping in with guys like Murray, Genoway, Stafford and Lundbohm. North Dakota will again be a powerhouse.

North Dakota will again be a powerhouse

I never thought they wouldn't be at the top of the heap. Throwing freshmen in place of these guys will be tough. That goes for the Gophers too. Every fan has hopes that the new faces come in and do some damage. More times then not, they tend to be average first year players, with a few exceptions.

The Gophers will be hurt more by the departure of Weibel, Riddle, and Koalska. They represent pretty much the only group of forwards that would play D for the Gophers outside of Irmen. Ballard will most definitely hurt, but Taylor made a mistake (not the money, just that he was not ready to turn pro yet). Like UND, the Gophers will bring in highly regarded players but that doesn't mean they'll dominate a tough league.

Just Joshin'

...the Gophers will bring in highly regarded players but that doesn't mean they'll dominate a tough league.

Very true. Most of the top d-men the Gophers are bringing in seem more offensively talented than defensively. Guys like Goligoski, Peltier, and Hagemo led their leagues in d-man scoring, but Goliogoski and Peltier are both around 6'0/190lbs and Hagemo is 5'11/180. I don't doubt their offensive skills, but I wonder what they'll contribute on the defensive end and with their phyiscal play. It'll be interesting how well they do infront of their net and scrapping for pucks in the corners.

Plus, I heard Lucia name mention as a canidate for a coaching job with the Phoenix Coyotes.

I've had the luxury of having seen him play several times, and I would say he definitely does. My understanding is that they are signing amateur try-out deals. I don't know how it works in the ECHL, but in the AHL, they can be signed as reserve players after the "clear day roster" deadline has passed. They can step in if there's an injury.

No he wasn't on the clear day roster, however it is still possible for him to play in the event of an injury as another poster pointed out. Patrick has yet to decide whether he'll return for his senior year at this point. However, he will be finishing the academic year at BC and then will make a decision. It would be nice to have the option, though, of inserting Patrick Eaves into the lineup as a reinforcement deep in the playoffs.

He's a long shot at best to make it to the NHL (I'm being realistic here, folks). He was terrific at Clarkson, one of the hardest working guys on the team and someone you'd be proud to have as a teammate, but (sadly) he is likely destined to be a career minor leaguer. He may have a good shot at the AHL, but I wouldn't put money on him making it to the NHL....at least not anytime soon.

Unless San Jose makes Carle an offer he absolutely can't refuse, I'd be really surprised if Carle leaves DU. SJ is loaded with very good young defensemen. The only defenseman they lost is Rathje, but he's likely to be replaced by Christian Ehrhoff. If not, they can also chose from Jim Fahey, Doug Murray among others.

My guess is Gwoz could either bring up one of the '06 kids scheduled to be playing in say the USHL this fall or sign a walk-on. If worse comes to worst, they can always use Adrian Veideman on defense. As I'm sure that you're aware of Jori, Gwoz did have Veideman playing defense at various times last season.

Is there anything new on Moore leaving Maine?

Nope, not yet but if I see/hear/read anything about it, I'll be sure to pass it along.

Also, to the individual who asked me about Jay Latulippe, here's a bit of lowdown on him:

He's a play who works hard and gives 110% every game. The biggest knock on him is his size. He's small...about 5'10/170. He plays alot bigger than his small frame. He's gritty, tenacious and very intense. One area of concern about Latulippe when he was at Clarkson was his ability to keep his emotions in check. Latulippe is a fierce battler who is very good along the boards and in the corners. He can give opposing defensemen fits because he is tough to play against. He led Clarkson in scoring with 36 points (13G, 20A). Some of Latulippe's best plays came on Clarkson's power plays, where he scored 10 of 13 goals and led the team.

I agree. They have Troy Davenport coming in next season, who's been playing with Des Moines in the USHL this season but I don't know if he'll become what McKee and LeNeveu have become for Cornell. If Davenport can get off to a strong (and relatively consistent) start, the loss of McKee shouldn't be too bad but if he doesn't, the Big Red will have some goaltending issues to sort out next season.

That's a great signing. IMO, the top NCAA free agent out there this year.

Several seniors could earn a pro contract after McGregor.
One of them will stop :
Napert-Frenette already has a job lined up with a Wall Street firm as a financial analyst and opted to hang up his skates. The senior center/captain finished second on the Crusaders in scoring with 45 points.

Is someone familiar with NCAA college free agents and how they are signed? Chris Collins of BC is a free agent. This line was in today's Boston Globe about his status:

While Boyle seemed certain about his future, Collins said he didn't know how the rest of the year would play out. Collins, an undrafted free agent, would have to sign with an NHL club before the end of the regular season. The senior, whose family adviser is Steve Bartlett, could also complete the academic year and sign a pro contract this summer.

Does that mean a college FA can sign with a pro team once his college season is finished but prior to the end of the NHL regular season; also, could someone draft him in the upcoming draft if he remains unsigned?

A college free-agent can sign anytime he wants to. Collins could have signed the night before the final if he wanted to-but he wouldn't have been able to play of course.
