Easton 02-08-2007, 09:52 AM Incredible. Everson doesn't site any sources or have any evidence to back up his speculation.
DevFan-RU- 02-08-2007, 10:01 AM Definitely an HFBoard Reader.
Anyways...
LETS GO DEVILS!!!
:devdance: :devils :devdance:
====================
:isles :fight: :devils
David Puddy 02-08-2007, 10:03 AM Incredible. Everson doesn't site any sources or have any evidence to back up his speculation.PEli suggests that HFBoards is the source in the "Devs Looking To Land Brad Stuart..." thread. I was going to post that Everson is The Devils Repairman's source in that thread after this article came out.
I also find it odd that Everson doesn't have Scott Gomez being traded. It just isn't an Everson trade-speculation article without Gomez being traded. How many times has Everson had Gomez being traded over the last six years? It must be around a dozen times.
DownFromNJ 02-08-2007, 11:46 AM We should start a random rumor and see if Everson picks up on it :)
ClaudeLemieux4HOF 02-08-2007, 01:01 PM wow, i just read it, i wonder if hes gonna get in trouble for plagorism of HFBoards?
:teach:
jkrdevil 02-08-2007, 01:03 PM Has everson ever got a Devils trade rumor right? Think his article proves that Stuart isn't coming here.
DownfromNJ, your right we should. Between Eklund and and Everson it would get spread pretty quickly.
Easton 02-08-2007, 01:13 PM Janssen or Dowd tonight? Fraser or Hale?
DownFromNJ 02-08-2007, 01:16 PM Repairman, is there any chance you could start a rumor like "Devils interested in Perreault" on these boards? I'd love to expose Mark Everson.
Muttley 02-08-2007, 01:25 PM Incredible. Everson doesn't site any sources or have any evidence to back up his speculation.
"Lou Lamoriello has received break after break from the league on his cap mess"
Oh great, more wonderful misrepresentation from the NYR/Leni Riefenstahl propaganda machine.
If you keep saying it, people will believe it.
Drewr15 02-08-2007, 01:26 PM I would also point out from the Sun article
"Since December 22, captain Patrik Elias has completely turned his season around, tallying 23 points and a plus-12 rating in 22 games. Though Martin Brodeur is clearly the Devils' anchor, Elias's productivity is critical to the team's success."
for all the abuse Elias has been getting questioning his deserving of the C lately.
Great GDT thread as always Puddy.
Brooklyndevil 02-08-2007, 01:43 PM There's an article in today's NY post about how the Islanders are playing better due to the team changing it's game plan and concentrating on being more defensive due to not being able to run and gun with other teams. I thought their coach found that type of game boring? 2-1 Devils win because we're the best at the defensive game.
DEVILS ALL THE WAY 02-08-2007, 01:58 PM With possibly Yashin out of the lineup (day to day) and Martinek, the Devils should pick up the W. Our offense seams to be really clicking right now. Our 2nd line is playing as good as our 1st line and our defense is always a force to be recking with.
Devils: 4 (Parise, Gomez, Elias, Oduya)
VS
Islanders: 1 (Hunter)
LET'S GO DEVILS !!!!!
NaChOs 02-08-2007, 03:22 PM grrrrrrrr hunter always scores on us
dok101 02-08-2007, 03:54 PM "Lou Lamoriello has received break after break from the league on his cap mess"
Oh great, more wonderful misrepresentation from the NYR/Leni Riefenstahl propaganda machine.

Please, don't put Leni in the company of the NYR. :sarcasm:
We've won the last 3 meetings, let's keep the streak going.
E_Godard 02-08-2007, 04:07 PM We've won the last 3 meetings, let's keep the streak going.
I dont know, I may be wrong but I think tonights game is gonna be a bit different from the last few. Not making any win predictions, just think both teams are going to play with alot more wind now the deadline is coming up.
Goodluck Devs
Muttley 02-08-2007, 04:41 PM Please, don't put Leni in the company of the NYR. :sarcasm:
It's a perfect combination for the two. He's picked up in print where she left off in film.
Randal Graves 02-08-2007, 05:20 PM Another Burns article for the GDT:
http://www.cbc.ca/sports/columns/morrison/070207.html
DevilFisch 02-08-2007, 05:32 PM Discipline, discipline, DISCIPLINE.
The Devils need to do better and reduce the number of stupid infractions they take, thereby reducing the number of power plays given up. In the last two weeks or so (including this week), the Devils given up 6 against the Rangers, 3 against Buffalo, 4 against the Flyers, and 6 against the Thrashers. Way too many man advantages for opponents to make the game even harder for the Devils, and if the Devils get too dumb/heated on the ice, the Devils will have a difficult time tonight.
I know the Islanders' power play hasn't been effective, but they will be up for the game if only because they're coming off a big win against Philly last night and that they are a mere 2 points behind 8th place Carolina. These games are always good, close games; but I still believe discipline is the key. GO DEVILS!
Pariseisgod* 02-08-2007, 06:04 PM My prediction for this game is Devs come out on top...ehh....3-1
Langy PP Goal 1-0
Hunter Goal 1-1
Parise Goal 2-1
Parise Goal 3-1
DevFan-RU- 02-08-2007, 06:10 PM This game will come down to the 3rd period again... both teams will play good D and really cut down on chances on both ends.
Lou's Koolaid 02-08-2007, 06:33 PM Devils 9-8 in a so another chess match:sarcasm:
DevilsFan38 02-08-2007, 07:09 PM Discipline, discipline, DISCIPLINE.

Games against teams fighting for a playoff spot are always tough, because as much incentive as the Devils have to win (keeping space between them and Pittsburgh, catching Buffalo) the Isles have their backs to the wall and will probably come out strong. Hopefully the Devils can match the intensity.
IslesFanatic 02-08-2007, 07:19 PM Should be a good one tonight guys. DP loves playing you guys because he pretty much wants to be where Marty is in his career right now and has always been, UNBELIEVABLE, so he kind of gets up for these games. Both teams are playing well and god knows the Isles need these points being only 5 away from 5th in the conference so it should be interesting. Anyway, good luck tonight and maybe Parise wont score against us yet again. :sarcasm: ;)
DevFan-RU- 02-08-2007, 07:20 PM We can handle them.
elias026 02-08-2007, 07:23 PM is Janssen playing tonight?
Classic Devil 02-08-2007, 07:34 PM Should be a good one tonight guys. Parise is scoring on everyone right now.
IslesFanatic 02-08-2007, 07:35 PM Parise is scoring on everyone right now.
I know gotta love the kid and the way he plays. I usually dont like too many guys from the Rags and Devs, but I love Parise Gomez and Gionta, I guess maybe because they are American.
IslesFanatic 02-08-2007, 07:37 PM actually I dont think there is anyone on the Devs that I hate, unlike the other ****ing team across the river from you guys. ;)
DevFan-RU- 02-08-2007, 07:45 PM actually I dont think there is anyone on the Devs that I hate, unlike the other ****ing team across the river from you guys. ;)
Sean Avery is just two more reasons to hate them... but one reason is canceled out by his smokin' hot girl friend.
Lou's Koolaid 02-08-2007, 07:55 PM Sean Avery is just two more reasons to hate them... but one reason is canceled out by his smokin' hot girl friend.Cam should beat his a#$ and take his gir;friend Cam's chick is pretty hot too but aren't all hockey players girls:p: I want a nasty game tonight it would be great to play the Isles in the playoffs we need to establish a real rivalry with them.
Cry_Wolf 02-08-2007, 08:06 PM Let's pick it up guys. I'm hoping for a pretty exciting game tonight and hopefully a good crowd at CAA as well. I'm hoping for Marty to be god tonight! Let's kick some ***!!! LETS GO DEVILS!!

dok101 02-08-2007, 08:16 PM Sean Avery is just two more reasons to hate them... but one reason is canceled out by his smokin' hot girl friend.
He's still with Kim Bauer?

I don't think there's anyone on the Isles I hate either except maybe Hill (carry over from Carolina). I think it's a case of the enemy of my enemy is my friend kind of situation.

Viktor Kozlov? I was so high on him when we got him and was his only supporter for so long...
I guess I just feel sorry for him.
Tao Jones 02-08-2007, 08:30 PM Even Ted Nolan is tough to hate because of the past and the comeback.
He doesn't like boring chess matches, and implementing wise defensive style, but that is not enough for hate.
Trottier of HF certainly gives cause for throwing down though.:D
edit: Didn't things get chippy with Brylin at the end of the game before last against the Isles?
David Puddy 02-08-2007, 08:30 PM Janssen is the scratch.
DevFan-RU- 02-08-2007, 08:32 PM Most Dev fans hate Kozlov... I barely knew him though as a fan. And apparantly thats the story... Mr. Shootout.
dirty_magic 02-08-2007, 08:34 PM Is the game being played anywhere online? TVUplayer?
DevilsFan38 02-08-2007, 08:35 PM Go Devils! :devdance:
VegasPete7 02-08-2007, 08:37 PM Hey, guys, just signed up... Been a Devil fan since Driver and Muller were nice to me as a 5 yo after a trip to S. Mountain Arena in Totowa in 84.
DevilsFan38 02-08-2007, 08:37 PM Hey, guys, just signed up... Been a Devil fan since Driver and Muller were nice to me as a 5 yo after a trip to S. Mountain Arena in Totowa in 84.
Welcome!
pscoln1 02-08-2007, 08:37 PM lets go NJ Devils.....im soo excited for this game....lets hope its a WIN!!!
well it BETTER be!
VegasPete7 02-08-2007, 08:40 PM Thanks! Love to see Martin jumping into the play early, he's got the talent to do it, just gotta committ to it.
ZZ Pops 02-08-2007, 08:42 PM Penalty! Let's see if our killer Power play can get going :sarcasm:
pscoln1 02-08-2007, 08:43 PM PP for the Devils....
DevilsFan38 02-08-2007, 08:45 PM They had better do something with this 5 on 3...
DevilFisch 02-08-2007, 08:46 PM Brendan Witt just shoves down Parise from behind into the boards; that's a roughing (boarding?) call.
Quick 5-on-3 for NJ. Score damn it!
UPDATE: Gionta, why did you knock it wide???
DevilsFan38 02-08-2007, 08:48 PM Damn, our PP is in a serious slump.
DevilFisch 02-08-2007, 08:50 PM Ugh, that was frustrating.
But Jason Blake thinks that hooking a Devil whilst in the Devils' zone is a good idea when it's not. He'll sit for 2 and the Devils get (yet another) crack at the PP.
Please don't dissapoint, Devils!
DevilsFan38 02-08-2007, 08:50 PM Okay, they really had better score on this one.
crashlanding 02-08-2007, 08:51 PM That was a very weak call on Blake, he hooked the lower portion of Lukowich's stick.
Edit: Didn't notice his stick slide up Lukowich's.
pscoln1 02-08-2007, 08:51 PM another power play opportunity for the NJ Devils
DevilFisch 02-08-2007, 08:52 PM That was a very weak call on Blake, he hooked the lower portion of Lukowich's stick.
The replay shows Blake had got Lukowich's hands; which is a definite call.
crashlanding 02-08-2007, 08:55 PM Parise is taking a beating these days.
DevilsFan38 02-08-2007, 08:56 PM The Devils need to work on their PP in these upcoming days off.
DevilsFan38 02-08-2007, 09:07 PM All right, we'll try this again :help:
DevilsFan38 02-08-2007, 09:12 PM Wow that's frustrating. Outshoot them 15-3, and it's scoreless.
ZZ Pops 02-08-2007, 09:12 PM Ugh, damn you Dipietro.
crashlanding 02-08-2007, 09:13 PM Ugh, damn you Dipietro.
He plays against us like Marty plays against the Habs.
DevilFisch 02-08-2007, 09:14 PM In some ways, this game reminds me of the Buffalo game. Everything there's but the finish.
Which is exactly why this is frustrating. Why must you be so good DiPietro?! Whyyyyyyyyy?
Easton 02-08-2007, 09:15 PM I think the game plan when we face the Isles is to make DP play the puck. Just dump the puck in and see what stupid **** he does.
IslesFanatic 02-08-2007, 09:20 PM In some ways, this game reminds me of the Buffalo game. Everything there's but the finish.

now you know how we feel when we see #30 in the pipes.;)
DevilFisch 02-08-2007, 09:20 PM now you know how we feel when we see #30 in the pipes.;)
Yeah, I know. I can only imagine the buckets of "uggggh" that get produced when Marty is Marty. I'll try not to complain as much.
IslesFanatic 02-08-2007, 09:22 PM Yeah, I know. I can only imagine the buckets of "uggggh" that get produced when Marty is Marty. I'll try not to complain as much.
you dont even know.
DevilFisch 02-08-2007, 09:30 PM 14-2-3 since Christmas. I think this Devils team is pretty dang good, guys!
And thank you Brodeur and the defense for stopping a Jeff Tambellini chance that would have made the prior statement a little foolish! :)
crashlanding 02-08-2007, 09:37 PM Elias needs a video session. If he gives up one more shooting opportunity all alone in the low slot I'll kill him. I don't care if he's on his backhand, he needs to take that shot.
DevilFisch 02-08-2007, 09:39 PM Wow, the game has so many scoring chances that are just unrealized! Looks like this one will be another goaltender's duel.
Thankfully the Isles only hit the post.
Is it just me or are we seeing more of the fourth line tonight? I'm seeing Rupp and Ras a lot more on the ice.
Easton 02-08-2007, 09:39 PM Elias needs a video session. If he gives up one more shooting opportunity all alone in the low slot I'll kill him. I don't care if he's on his backhand, he needs to take that shot.
Yeah, I was saying the same thing. He seems to be playing with some extra jump tonight.
ZZ Pops 02-08-2007, 09:43 PM Woo!!
crashlanding 02-08-2007, 09:44 PM I'LL TAKE IT
PZL strikes again!
DevilFisch 02-08-2007, 09:44 PM Odd man rush, Parise botches the pass, puts it in close, DiPietro misses the puck, and the Devils win the scramble for the goal!
1-0 NJ! Langenbrunner! Or Zajac! who cares, it's A GOAL!
crashlanding 02-08-2007, 09:46 PM Hand pass?
why will elias not shoot?
DevilFisch 02-08-2007, 09:50 PM Gomez, whyyyyyy in the hell did you slash Witt. No reason for that!
2 minutes in the box means 2 minutes of a man advantage for the Isles.
DevFan-RU- 02-08-2007, 09:52 PM Stupid Islanders trap hockey... they're ruining the sport I tells ya!
DevilFisch 02-08-2007, 09:54 PM I wish, I wish, I wish that centering pass actually hit a Devil when DiPietro was still behind the net.
Wow. Keep pressing, Devils; I'm sure another will go your way. Eventually. I hope.
InsideThePocket 02-08-2007, 09:55 PM Stupid Islanders trap hockey... they're ruining the sport I tells ya!
Yeah, and my Isles fan friend has the audacity to tell me that "the Devils are really boring" while watching this game.
crashlanding 02-08-2007, 09:55 PM I wish, I wish, I wish that centering pass actually hit a Devil when DiPietro was still behind the net.
Wow. Keep pressing, Devils; I'm sure another will go your way. Eventually. I hope.
Me too.
I also wish Parise's pass didn't bounce over both Zajac and Hale's sticks.
Aside, Julien looks like he's giving Hale and the 4th liners plenty of minutes tonight.
VegasPete7 02-08-2007, 10:03 PM Me too.
I also wish Parise's pass didn't bounce over both Zajac and Hale's sticks.
Aside, Julien looks like he's giving Hale and the 4th liners plenty of minutes tonight.
Think Lou threatened him about using the 4th line and the whole roster? :D
Easton 02-08-2007, 10:05 PM Why wasn't Langs ever nominated for captain? Just listening him talk in that interview and watching him play tonight made we wonder why he wasn't a favorite. Maybe he's made some strides this year that we didn't see before.
VegasPete7 02-08-2007, 10:09 PM Why wasn't Langs ever nominated for captain? Just listening him talk in that interview and watching him play tonight made we wonder why he wasn't a favorite. Maybe he's made some strides this year that we didn't see before.
Langs isn't a career Devil; Elias is, so he wasn't going to be passed over.
DevilFisch 02-08-2007, 10:12 PM 21.
That's how many wins the Devils have earned that were one-goal games.
It's very possible the Devils can make this #22, but I sincerely believe the Islanders will not let a 1-0 game slide. They came close to scoring last period a number of times as well; the Devils must not bunker for much of the remaining 20 minutes.
lukowich has been great all nights
Ronnie Bass 02-08-2007, 10:27 PM What the hell is Scott Stevens doing in Lukowich's uniform?
Man, he is playing great.

Lou's Koolaid 02-08-2007, 10:32 PM Lukko rules!!! only 1 less career cup than Scotty looks like he wants to have a third.
DevilFisch 02-08-2007, 10:39 PM Crossbar!
Good to see the Devils keeping pace and trying for goal #2. Keep at it Devils!
UPDATE: Biiiiig save by Brodeur! His glove hand is strong, like carriage full of power.
jerseydevil 02-08-2007, 10:40 PM Stupid Islanders trap hockey... they're ruining the sport I tells ya!
I would laugh hysterically if Julien complained tomorrow in the paper about how the Islanders just trapped all night and really werent attacking...It would be true justice.
Jiri Bicek 02-08-2007, 10:41 PM DP is standin on his head tonight..
Penalty on Rafalski.. That's a way to swing momentum
DevilFisch 02-08-2007, 10:41 PM I would laugh hysterically if Julien complained tomorrow in the paper about how the Islanders just trapped all night and really werent attacking...It would be true justice.
If only the Devils were beating the Islanders by 4 or something, if only to please Mr. Nolan.
UPDATE: Elias! No! Gionta on the rebound! Twice! No dice! Wow!
Rafalski will sit for 2 minutes for something that is likely foolish.
bense27 02-08-2007, 10:42 PM Ricky D's getting lucky
dkball7 02-08-2007, 10:42 PM Ricky D's getting lucky
No, he's a very good goaltender.
jerseydevil 02-08-2007, 10:44 PM Ricky D's getting lucky

Jiri Bicek 02-08-2007, 10:44 PM wow Marty
DevilFisch 02-08-2007, 10:45 PM Martin Brodeur doesn't need a mask to keep a shot going wide!
BTW, Madden take the shot when you get a break like that! Pandolfo on a 2-on-1 is not a good option. :)
Jiri Bicek 02-08-2007, 10:46 PM absolutely brilliant!!!!
DevilFisch 02-08-2007, 10:46 PM SHORTY!

I'm so sorry for doubting you Jay!

Lou's Koolaid 02-08-2007, 10:46 PM Anyone not watching or listening will say another boring Devs game. Wrong! Wrong! Wrong. Pando SCORES:yo: :yo:

Brooklyndevil 02-08-2007, 10:59 PM Strange game. I thought the Devils blew so many chances in the first and than the Islanders came on in the second, but the third belonged to the Devils and if it wasn't for the game Ricky had the score could have been worse. Although, Marty also made some big time saves. Like I said before, strange game.
IslesFanatic 02-08-2007, 11:01 PM Good game fellas. Hey that goalie of yours is he a rookie because he is pretty dasmn good.;) The Devs played an excellent game, again. Just so frustrating playing you guys play the system and stay within themselves so well.

Jiri Bicek 02-08-2007, 11:05 PM I def prefer games like this than those Atlanta and Philly games..
What i like the most about this team is that they can win games 5-4 when needed or win them 1-0
Easton 02-08-2007, 11:06 PM Now it's gonna get much harder to get those SO's, not just because the playoffs are coming up, but in general when you're close enough it just seems tougher (and Marty has admitted this). I just hope he can get it done this season, in this building, than some measly game at the beginning of next season.

How are you going to find a game entertaining if you see the other team taking it to you? I dunno, I'd find that kind of game incredibly boring. I'll take a 0-0 game with lots of chances for both teams as an incredibly entertaining game, I don't need a lot of goals like 5

David Puddy 02-08-2007, 11:41 PM Marty Brodeur trails Chris Mason by .000181 for the best save percentage in the NHL. Here are they are:
C. Mason____.927466
M. Brodeur__ .927285
Brodeur leads in every other major category: wins, shutouts, goals against average, games played, time on ice, shots attempted and saves. I wonder who the last goaltender to lead every single major category is.
Jamie Langenbrunner was on Hockey Night New York Jersey. He said that the Devils aren't concerned with catching Buffalo, but the team is focused on winning each game night.

Cry_Wolf 02-08-2007, 11:48 PM Not a bad game tonight. It looked like Marty and Langenbrunner were the stars tonight. Dipietro was definitely a star tonight as well for the way he played. I heard and agree with Doc on this that DP always gets up for the games against Brodeur and plays his best. Marty of course played great and made some great saves. Congrats to him for the 10th shutout and #90!!!
Just plain AWESOME goal by Pando from a great pass by Madden and short-handed no less, been a rareity to see those. Was getting a bit laughable against the Islanders for hearing Madden/Pandolfo on that last powerplay before the goal. Great game overall, it was also interesting seeing Oduya getting into a little scuff there and wondered if he had any fighting skills had the refs let them go at it.
Let's hope we can take it to Tampa and play great on Sunday!

I'm slightly surprised that he has 7 against Montreal. Now I know he owns the Habs, but that's just as many as he has against Philly and the Rangers in probably half as many games played. It's also not like Montreal was ever really terrible like Tampa (5), Carolina (6), and Ottawa (6) were for a portion of his career.
EliasFan 02-08-2007, 11:58 PM I'm curious to see how many he has at home vs Montreal, as opposed to how many he has IN Montreal, his hometown!

He really really really steps it up against Montreal his career stats against MTL are:

The thing is, in one of my leagues (the big money one) me and the second place guy are pretty even in every category, except shutouts. Brodeur's unreal number has basically given me first place the rest of the way, unless something crazy happens.

You'd be disappointed, Brodeur has owned Luongo for Luongo's career
17 games played 4 wins 13 losses, 3.24 g.a.a. .907 svpct. his lowest stats against any opponent he's played over 10 games against.

completely new situation, Luongo is basically a different goalie. I'd throw most of his Florida stats out the window. Not saying he is at Brodeur's level (no goalie is, tbh), I just think they both thrive and it would be a treat to watch.
Not to mention many coaches label Vancouver the "Devils of the West."

I think Luongo has always been the same, it's the team in front of him, but he's chased often, and not because the Devils shoot the lights out, it's because he lets in 3 or 4 on 12 shots, bad goals. I'd like to see of the ownage would continue in Vancouver.

Agreed. Some fans have the luxury of mass transportation and a wonderful arena locale to goto.
We have a barren smelly landscape which is as cold as Antarctica 4 months out of the year.

This may be old news to everyone else, but I actually looked up what all the current construction is about and the finally learned that the "Xanadu Project" is shopping mall...
The Xanadu Entertainment project will consist of many different station including sports, fashion, food/home, kids and entertainment. New Jersey is willing to bring on the challenge of making the biggest mall in the world, and is ready for the expected traffic and population issues

HBK27 02-09-2007, 04:03 PM This may be old news to everyone else, but I actually looked up what all the current construction is about and the finally learned that the "Xanadu Project" is shopping mall...
You have got to be ******** me! Who's going to go shopping at the Medowlands? "Hey honey, do you want to go to Paramus, Nyack or Hell on Earth?"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meadowlands_Sports_Complex
Have they even done anything with that project in the past few months? I swear that skeleton of a building next to CAA has not changed since the beginning of the season. I've also heard that there were a lot of problems with the project.
I also wonder how well another shopping mall is going to do there...especially when you look at Mill Creek Mall just a mile or two down the road on Route 3 which is practically abandoned at this point (I only know that since my friends and I meet up there before games to take one car in).
Hey guys, went to the game. If anyone ever, and I mean EVER gives us **** about our attendance again you tell them to do what we had to do tonight to get in and out of that god-forsaken dump. What a ****hole! I can't wait till they blow it up!
Now mind you, there were about 8000 actual people at the game, and it took me about 20 minutes to park in that monstrosity they call a parking garage. Then they made us park ON THE ROOF and it then took us another 20 minutes to get down from the top after the game. It was the single worst experience I have had there, and I thought that stupid tunnel was bad.
I am a crazed Devil fan and I am NEVER parking in that "Garage" again. I can't even begin to im agine how many people stay away from these games because it is such a ***** getting in and out, plus once inside, it is as bad as it ever was.
But at least we won!!!!!!!
Woo hoo!
Pando made a great play and the Dip played really well too.
Great rant...I'm with you on the parking garage. I'd rather freeze my nuts off walking back to Giants stadium, though I've had trouble getting out of there after games as well. The concessions are also terrible at the arena - I hate having to miss mites on ice to get food or a beer. Anyway, can't wait 'til they blow up the old barn. I'll be on hand to watch it go down.
