I couldn't find it on YouTube.com, but you can see it on NHL.com's scores page. This is just the hit (http://www.nhl.com/video/app?component=%24NHLDirectLink_3&page=GameHighlights&service=direct&sp=S%2F20062007%2F02%2F0805%2FIH_NHL_2006_R_805_NY R%40NJD_300k_0011_NJD3215707_hit.wmv&sp=20062007&sp=805&sp=2&sp=*****). If you watch the continuous highlights of the game (http://www.nhl.com/video/app?component=%24NHLDirectLink&page=GameHighlights&service=direct&sp=S%2F20062007%2F02%2F0805%2FIH_NHL_2006_2007_805 _2_300K_continuous.wmv&sp=20062007&sp=805&sp=2), which is 3:30 long, they show to slow-motion replays of the hit. There is an XM commercial that plays first for about 20 seconds before the highlights load.

Also, Tom Gulitti of The Record wrote about this yesterday in his "Devils notebook (http://www.northjersey.com/page.php?qstr=eXJpcnk3ZjczN2Y3dnFlZUVFeXkxMzMmZmdi ZWw3Zjd2cWVlRUV5eTcwNzI5MTAmeXJpcnk3ZjcxN2Y3dnFlZU VFeXk2)."

The Rangers later admitted that the hit wasn't dirty.

"I don't think so," Rangers coach Tom Renney said. "[It was] shoulder or arm. We looked at it. Petr was bent down. We'll call it a fair hockey hit."

Often the case with those kind of hits, people mistake the arm pushing off for an elbow. Keep your head up is right, especially when the guy is taller than you and his shoulder lines up with your forehead.

Props to Prucha for getting up so quick. I'm pretty sure I would have just stayed down counting the birdies swirling around my head.

I maintain that was a classic elbow, you could see that Kaspar was going to miss the hit when Grant stopped up and he stuck his elbow out, similar to how someone sticks a knee out when they're going to miss a hit sometimes.

Of course, JD flipped his lid about it and now every Ranger fan will tell you that it's a shoulder.

But hey, at least we got to see Grant do the chicken dance the next time they met. :biglaugh:

That was a great hit by Luko. Maybe an Islander will suffer the same fate tonight.

And the lucky winner of the Luko Bone Crusher last night was Chris Simon at 5:43 of the 3rd period. Simon is certainly much bigger than Prucha at 6-3, 234lbs, but Simon was still buzzed after the hit.

I think Luko has been getting some off-ice tutoring by Prof. Stevens. :teach:

Exactly. In this case, the hit is hardly impressive. The fact that Prucha gets back up every time and sometimes even goes right at the other guy is what's impressive to me. Kid has more heart and tenacity than anyone else in the NHL.

I agree. Shows a lot of toughness on the part of the kid.

Toughness isn't having a particular enforcer who will take care of someone on the other team. Toughness is having players that will stand up for themselves when the enforcer isn't on the ice.

If Lukowich stuck out his elbow on that hit, Prucha wouldn't have gotten up. If he did it would have been "Niedermayer"esque in a way. They were both going so fast that with an elbow out, Prucha would of had to been carried off in a stretcher.

The hit was very, very impressive. It got the Devils fans to their feet and had Ranger fans grumbling about a totally clean hit. And I bet you were impressed with Ward's hit on Brylin...

Give Prucha his props for getting up but he has to stop getting hit in the first place. A ton of other players who play just as hard or harder are smart enough to avoid hits like that.

That was a nice hit by Cool Hand Luk. He has done fairly well against the Rangers this season. He is certainly worth that 3rd Rounder it cost the Devils.

Weird, I remember him saying that it was a high and not so clean hit in our GDT (haven't read NYR's). Honestly, I thought it looked pretty clean myself. He exploded into him, but I'm usually willing to give grit the benefit of the doubt. Kind of like how I thought Hatcher's hit on Parise from behind at our blue line was okay...he didn't try and run him out of the rink, but he let Parise know he was there. Also, Tyutin's hit on Parise was clean, Zach just tried to jump around him and Tyutin didn't budge.

If you refrain from calling people a jackass without proper cause then things will go a lot smoother around here. I had to spend more time then I wanted going through 30 pages of GDT threads only to find that, in your own words and like I said, you were impressed with the Ward hit! You said something like "AWESOME HIT!" You later admitted it was high, but were you still impressed with the hit?

You know, all you had to do was search on the board for my posts. Start to learn the search function, since it's actually very handy when someone calls you out for speaking without knowing.

I'm just sick and tired of being accused on this board of saying something I didn't say or of something else simply because people don't utilize what's available to them. It's not that difficult and it saves frustrating people and having them get pissed off at you.

And is it that hard to understand that what I'm saying is that at the time OF the hit I said, "Wow, what a hit!" but after looking at the review I came to the conclusion that it was a high hit? Anything more to explain here?

** sigh **

I see I have more to explain. Who accused you of saying anything? I said "I bet you were impressed with the Ward hit". Now what does that accuse you of saying? Nothing! Just a feeling I had. You later acknowledged that it was inded high, but you were impressed from what you posted. Did you acknowledging that it was high eliminate the fact that you were impressed? I, of course, have no idea.

Now the fact remains that you threw out a stupid statement towards me and sadly I feel the need to defend myself.

You say I need to learn the search function, I say you need to learn to read a user's post. You are "just sick and tired of being accused on this board of saying something I didn't say". That has nothing to do with me or my post. I did not accuse you of saying anything. Read my post and you will see.

You state "people don't utilize what's available to them". Well, if I did, I would have found two posts where you sound pretty impressed with the Ward hit to me, even if you did acknowledge it was high. So what else could I have done? I felt the need to respond to your ridiculous statement that a hit isn't impressive but the victim getting up from it is. Strange logic. Both seem pretty impressive, I think most would say.

I guess my main point is that I did nothing to warrant you calling me a jackass. Stupid statement on your part and not needed. I see your posts often and disagree more than agree but I didn't expect a childish statement like that. And yeah, I know, I'm just as bad for following up on it. So, you can have the last word because I am done. I don't know why my statement upset you so much because that wasn't the intention. Relax and have final word.

And Brylin never, ever, ever, ever gets a freakin' call... He could be beaten to death in the corner and not draw a penalty. Maybe it is an anti-Russian bias, but he always gets killed when the refs "aren't looking"...

And back to the thread -- Luko has been on a hitting tear lately. Just a beast... Never thought he would settle into his role as a top 4, stay at home, hitting machine quite like he has -- but I am in the camp to re-sign him for a few more seasons. He has blown by my uppermost expectations for him and only seems to be getting better every game in our system. A great fit.

And despite thinking of getting an Oduya jersey as a sexy change of pace from my Gionta (bought during his first season as a Devil), I think I might go with a Lukowich -- as I haven't seen a single one yet at any of the games this season.
