This is one of the big matchups in the CCHA this season, as these two in-state rivals are battling for better position in the standings. Both teams are coming into this game in a bit of a slump, with each having lost three straight heading into the home and home series. If you don't want to know the results of tonight's game at Yost Ice Arena yet, don't read further!

The Michigan Wolverines took this game with a 2-0 victory tonight! :handclap: Eric Nystrom's goal with 1:28 left in the 3rd period broke a scoreless tie, and the Wolverines then added an empty netter with .2 left. Both goalies played outstanding, as Dominic Vicari for the Spartans made several fantastic saves--not bad for a freshman goaltender, and he had no chance on Nystrom's goal off the faceoff. For the Wolverines, Al Montoya got his 3rd shutout of the season. It was a typical UM/MSU game: tightly checked and hard hitting, with both sides giving up few great scoring chances. When they did, both goalies stepped up to make the stops.

Michigan F David Moss twisted his right knee awkardly in the 3rd period and did not return.

The two teams meet again tomorrow night at Munn Ice Arena in East Lansing. Go Blue!

TheNorm#30: Thanks for posting this. FYI, I fixed it so that we got the date in it. It helps when there are a myriad of "Game Notes" threads. Sounded like a terrific game.

BTW, the Spartans won tonight's game at Munn.....ironically it was the same score 2-0. No I didn't see it. Sorry.

Oilers Chick, thanks for fixing it--and glad someone enjoyed the post! Didn't get to catch Saturday night's game, though...so no post on that either. :(
