Its official - 3rd Jersey logo now our primary one starting next year!!

The Blue Jackets’ third-jersey logo — an Ohio flag swirled around a star — will replace the "CBJ" logo on the club’s home and away jerseys for the 2007-08 season, team president and general manager Doug MacLean said yesterday.

"We’ll unveil them at some point during the offseason," MacLean said.

The Blue Jackets’ new look will include Civil War cap emblems on the shoulders. The lettering and number fonts are expected to remain the same. The shoulders will not be black, as they are on the current third jersey, nor will there be a "lace-up" look under the chin.

Can't see why they wouldn't have the new jerseys ready when the NHL world descends upon Nationwide.

I'm going to try the glass half full approach and think that maybe seeing it ALL the time will help me get used to seeing the state flag flying backwards as normal and not something that makes me do a doubletake. I still have not gotten used to it.

The only time it looks ok is when I am wearing my 2007 draft shirt and I am looking in the mirror.

I still had silent hope that they'd use the same logo as the Junior Jackets. It's just a classy look.

It still is an improvement though so I'm happy.

Man, now I'm not sure what to do. Part of my Christmas present was money to get Fedorov/91 applied to my third jersey. Now they're unveiling a new one.

Plus, the minute I do it they'll probably trade him. I don't want to jinx Sergei like I did Tyler Wright with my white jersey.

I'd personally hold off until next year. I usually buy at least one jesery a year... Those funds are on hold until next year... In fact my wife bought me an Ovechkin jersey at the end of last year and I had her return it so that I can get the latest/greatest next season...

I'm just so happy that there will no longer be any neon green in our jeserys... :bow:

I like those two parts. I wonder if any team is allowed to have lace-ups next season? The black on the shoulders is what made those sweaters look so sharp. I'm interested to see what it looks like.

I for one am glad to see the black go. Never really liked it. As far as the lace ups go, I will be surprised to see any team with them next year just because of the new style of jersey. Maybe the Rangers will try to pull it off (could be that is why the Jackets aren't going to try it, same basic color scheme after all.)

I kinda agree with fuTurk about the "Blue Jackets" theme. After their experience with the CBJ logo though, I don't blame them for going with a known quantity over trying something new. I like the star logo but they should tweek it a little to make it more evident that it is a 'C.' I feel kinda silly but I didn't even realize it was supposed to be one until just now.:innocent:

I'll miss the black sleeves a lot, and also the laces. I'd like our colors to be white, black, red, and navy blue personally. Since we used them on the thirds they look much better then the more "lighter" colored blue. Though I wouldn't mind the one JACKETfan posted either, they just don't have the same look though. I wonder if we'll have a new third. Though I thought the rule was one new jersey every few years, and since we'd be getting an away verison of the modified third, would that take it up. Perhaps they will wave that rule because of the jersey changes throughout the leauge?

At some point a comment was made that for Reebok's sake (RBK, excuse me...) that the 3rd jersey program was going on hiatus starting next year.

Since everyone gets a new home/away jersey the demand for production would be high and they wouldn't be able to meet the allotment for 3rds as well. <insert your own child labor joke here>

That was my understanding of the situation as well. Since the Jackets are changing their logo on the home and away jerseys i can't imagine it having any effect on the eventual third. Other than having to come up with a new logo of course. I just hope they don't bring back the glowing hockey stick.

So i was bored today and decided to come up with a prototype of what the new jersey may look like. basically what i did was take the western all-star jersey and kind of tweak it. its a little rough around the edges but hopefully you can at least get the idea. id buy it

I'm loving that the new jerseys are most likely going to be amazing, but I hate it because now I have to buy one the second they're available. That jersey will make anyone look good.

Altough, what I hate about the new jerseys, I think those will be too much alike, like WC jerseys are right now. That really kills the beauty about team jerseys when you can create new jersey just by changing colours and logos, nothing else.

I put up a mock-up on the main boards too. I kept the black tho... it looks to good to lose. I dropped the ties but replaced them with rifles. Rifles are just good family fun.

I'd like to see a mainly black and dark blue with a white trim and use the red for maybe an outline down to the bottom.

I've always thought that logo was a bit of a ripoff from the Stars. But it's still awesome and those jerseys look great. However, there's no way they get me to spend $400 on one.

The 'bug was ugly and made everyone think we were named after some made up mascot bee thing. I like the new logo a lot, the only downfall is people that don't know of the Ohio flag will think it's some "US Pride" thing (as I think someone mentioned eariler), so that I don't like, but otherwise a much better logo then the ugly green stick.

Dude, that crest has been the 3rd jersey logo for 3 years now and has been on more new Jackets merchandise than the current one since it was unveiled.

What I don't get is why the Peca fan in ottawa 1) cares if we change to our 3rds NOW vs. EVER , 2) why Peca fan thinks he knows more than a Blue Jacket fan about ANYTHING to do with the CBJ?
