Any likelihood of this happening?
The Tennessean reports the Nashville Predators have placed goalie Michael Leighton on waivers. It's possible Leighton's former team, the Anaheim Ducks, might reclaim him.

I doubt it. We gave up Parenteau and St. Jacques for Caron "plus". I think Burke thinks that Caron is a better option than Leighton.

It's very likely they will try to claim him. Anaheim is paying half the salary now and they don't know when Giguere will be back.
Caron is there but I am not sure they think, he's the solution as well.
Anaheim isn't the team to try and put in a claim so it will be interesting.....I expect LA and St. Louis to take a stab.

Even if Leighton is claimed, it doesn't mean Leighton can be sent down within 30 days, but Leighton won't be going to Milwaukee now if Rinne is on his expected return.
? for Nashville is does Chris Mason remain a starter now that Vokoun is healthy.

Right...if the Ducks get him they can keep him for 30 days and sent him down with out waivers.
Vokoun is the starter and Mason is the backup.

Apparently Philadelphia claimed him.

So I guess the assumption is we didn't place a claim on him (or the assumption of first dibs is wrong, but I say no claim is more likely). Why not? If we didn't trust Caron enough to play him on the 31st (when the only other option was Wall) why not claim Leighton. Don't we need some goalie we can trust at least a little to give Bryz a break? Hasn't Carlyle learned his lesson yet about overplaying goalies? We have plenty of cap space and roster spots (just put Giguere on IR, he's already been out 7 days and can come back in whenever we want), what's wrong with carrying 3 goalies (assuming they don't send Caron down because he's waiver eligable, which I don't know if he's eligable or not)?
According to the Times, the Kings put in a waiver claim as well.
The Kings may now look to deal for a goaltender. They are unwilling to risk recalling Jason LaBarbera, who would have to clear waivers. Brust has only five NHL starts and Fukufuji has never appeared in an NHL game.
"We're trying a little," General Manager Dean Lombardi said, adding that the team put in a claim for former Ducks minor leaguer Michael Leighton, "but Philly took him. We have been looking, but it just shows you the way the market is — even guys in that category are getting picked up."

I was just going to say that.
How about we give them Caron for Kopitar?:sarcasm:
