WWWWWH? Trivia Question: Who scored the GWG against the Red Wings in Game 1 of the 2002-2003 playoff series?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After seemingly being in the driver's seat from the second period on, the Ducks lost a tough game to the Blue Jackets on Friday giving up four goals in the third period and losing 4-3. Similarly, Detroit has blown a three goal lead (4-9 loss to the Sharks) and a two goal lead (2-4 loss to the Kings) in the past two games and is looking to shore up things defensively. These two teams are looking for a victory tonight, but only one will come out on top. Which team will it be? We will find out TONIGHT!!! :) :yo:

Team tries to shake off tough loss (Written by Eric Stephens).
There was still some mess for the Ducks to clean up from Friday night's 4-3 debacle in which they blew a three-goal lead in the third period to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Words such as "embarrassing" and "unacceptable" were thrown around in the moments after the crushing defeat. On Saturday, the Ducks held a team meeting to try to put it behind them as they focus on breaking a four-game losing streak.

"You do a lot of soul searching when you have a losing streak," Coach Randy Caryle said. "There's a lot of airing of opinions. You give people a chance [to talk] and then you get back to the basics.

Update from Back East...From THEAHL.COM

http://stats.theahl.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=1002723
(Link to January 6, 2007 game summary between the Portland Pirates and the Worcester Sharks).

The Pirates exterminated the Worchester Sharks yesterday with an impressive 3-1 victory over those biting mongrels. Curtis Glencross scored two goals, while Matt Keith potted in another one in the win. Ryan Shannon has picked up right where he left off last year getting three assists in this game and acquiring five points in just two games. Michael Wall only allowed one goal on thirty shots in the victory.

Well, thank you so much guys.... I always appreciate your time! :) Hope you all have a good day and a good sleep and ditto for tomorrow as well. Au revoir! :)

C'mon, it fits with the whole "weight down the line" thing he does. Like enforcer with Getzlaf and Perry. Or whatever he does with Penner. Although apparently that doesn't work for defensemen, since he'd rather have the defensively challenged Jackman play with a rookie.

"gains control" sounds like more than just touching it.

I hate the red wings and their fans. Some jerk off thought he was being smart by saying "it's hockey not golf, they're playing the puck" after one of the wings took a shot at someone without the puck. I think he forgot about his team playing golf every year after the first round.

Did anyone else think the reffing was more atrocious than normal? Taking your hand off the stick shouldn't automatically be a penalty but apparently if you play for the Ducks it is.

hey fellas. went to the game tonight. i know going to a game and watching it on tv can be two completely different experiences. first off the red wing phenomenom in OC is dying down slowly but surely. eveytime a red wing chant started it was quickly drowned out. everytime someone yelled something for the wings they were greeted with boos. an arena-wide red wings suck chant popped up twice. nice.

pahlsson was awesome. moen was strong, but i wish he would have layed lebda out. jackman didnt have a chance to be horrible again, everyone was covering for him. melin was surpisingly good, some things i noticed that make me believe he might stick for a while: he brings some size to the mac-selanne line, hes been a pro for 5 years, hes got hands, and had some chemistry.

the refs are an *** joke. i can honestly think there is a conspiracy theory. maybe the refs have been mandated to call as many calls against them as possible, because of the standings. maybe someone with clout complained about them. i saw at least 10 interference penalties that should have been called on the wings. i saw one from getzlaf that went uncalled. im glad scotty and odonell finally had enough of holmstrm's ****.

the ducks were scrambling in the third, but held on. thank god, 5 losses would have been ugly and BB would have gone ballistic.

BTW: Bryz was INSANE.

I was not impressed with the Ducks tonight especially the 3rd, the little things are not getting done. Horrible on faceoffs and on the PK we really need Marchant back soon, Anaheim did a bad job of getting the puck out of their end but luckily bryz was up to task and there were guys blocking shots.

Watched the game last night.

Bryz played fantastic hockey.

A big time win for the Ducks, who played a desperate hockey team. What a sour trip so far for Detroit!

Inching along trying to catch your team!

Question:
Would you wish for Salei back...or was a change needed for him? I'd love it if SJ made a deal with FL for him. Thoughts if he were a Shark soon?

salei would be nice to have, but his sticker price is a little scary.

but yeah especially right now, salei would be nice. he's really flourished with the panthers, becoming their #1D.

Salei and his 50 minors per season? No thanks, we're already taking way too many stupid penalties.

From the Yahoo game summary...

"The NHL honored Giguere in a pregame ceremony for his 25th regular-season shutout (Dec. 6), a modest feat considering the fact that 13 other current goaltenders have more shutouts than Giguere -- and five of them are on a list of 26 goalies with 42 or more. The record is 103 by Terry Sawchuk, who had 85 shutouts with the Red Wings."

Wasn't it the Ducks, not the NHL that honored him?

I thought it was the Ducks, and I thought it was silly to honor him for 25 SO. Pretty soon we'll be honoring guys for 100 career goals.

What are the odds that Sami gets his "most consecutive games in Ducks history" ceremony? I'm guessing odds are good and it's a decent accomplishment, but these ceremonies need to be for really significant feats. Stuff that only a handful have people have accomplished in NHL history.

Whats the big deal? So they waste 10 minutes before the puck drops.....so what? Im fine with them celebrating whatever the hell they want, its their team.

It's not the biggest deal, but it sort of lessens the value of more significant accomplishments when every minor one is celebrated. If they start retiring numbers at the pace they have these ceremonies, we are going to be in trouble. But, at least we'll have Stu Grimson's number in our rafters. :sarcasm:

For the most part I liked the lines, Getzlaf and Perry need a skilled guy like Kunitz, and Melin did not look out of place at all, he made a few very nice passes and one nearly resulted in a goal for Selanne.

We really need Marchant back however he really adds alot to this team.
