Giggy Injury Update

Wondering of anyone has news on Giggy's injury and when he is expected to make his return.

He is expected to return before the All Star Game break! :) :yo: He has been going through full practices with no pain.

Agree. Bryz is good #2 goalie but i don´t imagine him to be our #1. He is a guy who is always there when we need him but or we need somekind of breaktrough but he can not be all the time in the net.

Giguere has not been going though full practices and now is unsure if he can get back by the break.

I would think at least ceremonially he will be picked so that he can turn down the spot due to injury. He and Hasek have to be the #2 and #3 goalies for the game. Kipper or Turco should take his spot, with the other one getting shafted by the lame Luongo inclusion.

No kidding, he let some soft ones in but our defense let him out in the cold. That period was terrible.

An interview with Jiggy a few games ago he said he didn't think he would be back until after the break, but he is taking it day to day. He didn't sound so hopeful and I think he may have hurt himself a bit more trying to get a head of himself.

I love Bryz, and I know he can do this. But he looks like he has lost the fire in his eyes. I think being pulled those games at the beginning of the season and then his injury, I think a lot of his confidence is gone. I hope he gets it back soon, because Bryz can be great, he just needs to remember how.

I won't say he can be consistently great, but he can do better than he is now. Still he is not comparable to Giguere.

I saw that when I was at the Columbus game. I showed it to my friend and we were both cracking up.

Bryz seems to lose focus at times. I think he would be much more effective on a team like Columbus or Pittsburgh facing a lot of shots rather than on Anaheim where he is sitting still for minutes at a time while the Pahlsson line keeps the puck in the villain's zone during an entire line change.

Ottawa fan here, just wanted to give you the update that I found on Yahoo...I am interested in Giguere solely for fantasy hockey purposes, which is why I was looking.
Otherwise, he could stay hurt incase Ottawa plays Anaheim in the playoffs...because bryz can't do it :D

Update: Giguere (groin) was on the ice for the full morning skate on Tuesday and could still return following the All-Star break, the Orange County Register reports.

Recommendation: The Ducks are hoping Giguere will be ready for the Jan. 28 game against Dallas, but coach Randy Carlyle has not set a specific date for his return. "It was a big step," Giguere said Tuesday. "I didn't go all out. I kind of restrained myself in practice, but after practice, I did some nice goalie drills. I was almost there, almost letting it go."

What we're watching now sucks, but we don't mind waiting an extra game or two.

Thank god. Although Pronger was a big blow, I think the absence of Giguere is what has really hindered their performance the last few weeks. Many said you can throw any goaltender into the Anaheim net this year and they will still win. Well I think that has been proven false now.

Yes, because Pronger's grow on trees. Cannot say what the success of 'any' goalie in Anaheim would be with an anchor like Pronger out. Could easily argue that Pronger has been the push over the top that has lead to Anaheim's success this season.

Have you seen the softies Bryzgalov is letting in. The d hasn't been great by any means but Giguere is sorely missed. Pronger is as well but not as much as Giguere IMO.

Even with Giguere in net, the team would still have played like crap. He would have stolen a few of the closer games for us, but crap is still crap. Our second pairing is O'Brien-Dipenta. We need Pronger back.
