The beautiful and fantastic Honda Center!

Probable Starters: Ilya Bryzgalov V Fredrik Norrena
WHOM?: Ducks VS Blue Jackets
HOW?: (Eyes) FSN PT, (Ears) 830 AM KLAA
WHEN?: Friday, January 5th, 2007...7:05 PT.
WHY?: To commemorate the Ducks of this world.
WHAT?: Duck's Record: 28-8-6...62 Points/Blue Jacket's Record: 15-21-4...34 Points.
WWWWWH? Trivia Question: Francois Beauchemin was acquired via waivers from Montreal by the Blue Jackets before being traded to the Ducks. Who is the other player that the Blue Jackets have acquired from Montreal via waivers?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Ducks are coming back home after a mediocre road trip. Maybe the beautiful weather of California can lift them to winning ways. Meanwhile, the Jackets, even though coming off a poor 3-0 loss to the Kings, are still doing very well under Head Coach Ken Hitchcock. Who will come out with more goals than the other team? We will find out TONIGHT!!! :) :yo: :yo:

BTW, for those betting folks out there that aren't in Las Vegas, please click this thread to bet your vbux on tonight's game http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=328838 .

Injured Giguere making progress (Written by Eric Stephens)
The presence of Jean-Sebastien Giguereon the Honda Center ice meant one small step for him and one potential giant leap for the Ducks.

Giguere skated in his equipment for the first time since injuring his groin 10 days ago. The veteran goalie isn't practicing yet and so won't play any time soon, but no pain is a gain.

The injury report on center Todd Marchant was also encouraging. He skated with the team for the first half of practice, but his work was limited to non-contact drills. Marchant has missed the last four games because of an abdominal strain.

The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled center Tim Brent and right wing Bjorn Melin from the Portland Pirates, Anaheim’s development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). At the same time, the club has assigned center Ryan Shannon to Portland.

Ducks are a shell of their former selfs right now, maybe Jackman can help. Don't be surprised if the Jackets get the W.

Ducks are a shell of their former selfs right now, maybe Jackman can help. Don't be surprised if the Jackets get the W.

Depends entirely on which team shows up. To summarize our last 10 games (not in order)

Home vs
Chi 6-4 W
Det 4-3 W
Van 3-2 W
Bos 5-4 W (OT)
Det 7-4 L (down 3-0, came back to 4-3, then lost 7-4 - talk about a rollercoaster of a game)
Chi 3-1 W

Away vs
Det 5-0 L
NYI 4-0 L
Minn 4-3 L (OT)
LA 3-0 L

At this point I just want a score on the road. It has been really bad lately.

If any of you wander over to our board, just be warned that a majority of the posters have very sarcastic senses of humor and we are an irritated fan base that is frustrated with the inconsistencies we see from the team.

In other words, don't take any stupid comments personally. We have been very bi-polar lately.

May you beat everyone else (except us) in the Western conference. Please feel free to really stomp on Detroit. Thanks.

Nono, a bigger prize implies it's something that happens very rarely. So you'd only get a bigger prize if Coultier stops the beachball on you.

Here is one reason he shouldnt be:

He cant play.

At a time when offense is needed we are wasting a lineup spot on 5 shifts and 4 minutes of playing time. Let Thornton take Shelley on, if they even have to.

I'm sitting there next to my friend in the middle of the third and this is basically what I said to him,

3-1 Ducks
"Well, there goes Bryz's shutout. This is still boring"
3-2 Ducks

3-3 Ducks
"Holy crap, did we just see that? Okay, get this into overtime please."

I had the unique pleasure to be at this game. It was...depressing. I'm glad everyone else thought Jackman was bad. He had several brutal turnovers. The top line was great, but everyone else was non-descript.

On the five on three they kept trying the same play to Selanne and he kept shanking it or shooting it wide. Pahlsson was impressive with his physical play. I really thought Selanne was going to tie it up and all on his night. Oh well.

I think we will be fine once we get Pronger, Giguere and possibly Beauchemin back. We just have to do "okay" until then.

Does anyone else think Selanne wasn't even trying on the penalty shot?

:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Right, because that makes so much sense. I guess you didn't see that he barely caught the goaltender's jersey/pads, about a quarter of an inch from scoring. But hey, it wasn't some elaborate, obvious deke that Sportscenter would have ranked in it's top 5 plays of the night, so he couldn't have been trying.

Guess I should have added the :sarcasm:

I saw the shot.

I think an unwritten rule should...er...not be written...Friday and Saturday nights, when drinking is most likely, sarcasm or whatever should be clearly indicated by :sarcasm:

We went up to the Old #7 after the game and saw Pronger walk in. His foot is still in the boot but he was walking without a limp.

That last 10 minutes was maybe the worst hockey this team played all season. After the 3rd goal they went to what seemed like just a prevent defense. Carlyle made a stupid error in judgement when he kept Jackman out there after the 2nd goal, but I hate to say a loss will be good for them but this team has developed some bad habits and it takes a kick in the *** or two or three to finally get everyones attention.

What we need besides that is for Marchant, Giguere and Pronger to get healthy, Pahlsson got owned on faceoffs tonight..

Maybe Carlyle should let some of his players play. Brent, a guy playing his first NHL game, got twice as much time at even strength as Getzlaf and Perry. Brent was -2, by the way. What's with the aversion to playing two guys who, by the minute, must be two of the top scorers in the NHL? Perry played all of seven minutes. Carlyle has turned the team into a one-line team, with two checking lines and a second "scoring" line that never plays. It catches up to you after a while as teams concentrate on shutting down your one scoring line. Sure, the injuries hurt, but consistently giving the most ice time up front to Pahlsson and Rob Niedermayer is not a winning strategy, it's playing not to lose. The Ducks have the horses, maybe they should ride them.

Did Carlyle not take a timeout after any of those CBJ's goals?

if he didn't I have to blame this loss on him.

Jackman is worthless, bring back Rome.

He took the time out when the penalty shot was given. Dumb move by him, should have called it when it was 3-3.

Yeah to me that is just bad coaching...any other coach would have used their timeout after the 2nd or 3rd CBJ goal.

There was a lot of badness going on. On the ice and behind the bench.
