Ducks Avatars 2.0/ Corey ****ing Perry

Okay, I'll start this thread from scratch. As you all probably noticed, I've been having a lot of fun with avatars lately. So, at anyone's request, I'll try to make whatever avatar you like, animated or still. I'm having a lot more fun with the creative and humourous ones, so those get highest priority, but if you really was a plain still shot, let me know. I'll try to accomodate as many requests as I can and I apologize in advance if I take a long time to complete any. For any specific video/picture requests, please provide a link if you can. I don't want to spend a half hour searching for something that doesn't exist online. For videos, I can only do 4 or 5 frames at most without making it too small and undiscernable (see the Beauchemin one for best with full size and the Pronger one for best at small size).

I can only put 12 images per post, so I'm going to reserve a bunch of spaces for future expansion.

Be sure to look carefully. Some of these have subtle animations (I love the fighting ones, I have more of those coming soon)...

I was thinking for a Perry fight last year where he approaches some one and pulls his helmet off by his visor as they are circling one another, and he just looks like a pimp.

LOL, yeah the animation on that is so lame it's funny. I was going to add more windup on his punch, but the way his punches barely are traveling anywhere makes it 10x more hilarious. The head bob was a last second addition that was so simple but adds a ton.

Hey, look at some of the times between request and fulfillment. Some of these took me only 15 minutes. Even the complicated ones take me about 45 minutes to an hour. Plus it's fun and I'm getting a chance to improve my photo editing skills. I have some projects coming up where that will be useful.

LOL. That's actually not too hard. The fact that these things are so small makes it so I don't have to be pixel by pixel perfect and they still look great. Full size this might be hard to do without it looking crappy.

I'll get on in if I get a chance tonight, otherwise it'll have to wait until the weekend because I'll be at the game tomorrow night.

Making his arm was sort of difficult, but some creative image splicing from another Andy Mac pic and I got something that works at that size. It's not so pretty at bigger sizes, but mostly because I didn't try too hard because it didn't need to be any prettier.

Let me know if you like the swat timing. I think it looks pretty cool.

I'm trying and I can't get anything good. I can do maybe 5 or 6 frames at the most. Both of those look like nothing at that few frames. I'll try to find something for Perry though.

Y'know after looking at the avatar for a little... I love the idea (cuz it's my idea) but the problem is it's hard to tell that's Parros in there. I'm not sure how to fix that. Easiest fix I can come up with is just to add his number or name on the picture, or just the caption.

I just tried putting a number on it and it looks weird. I think it looks cool as is, but you are right, it's hard to tell it's Parros. I think most Ducks fans might be able to recognize him still. Nobody else will though.

On a side note, the Ducks home jerseys must be selling like hotcakes. Tonight was the second time this season my link to the black jerseys in the NHL store (where I get the numbers) said SOLD OUT. I have yet to see the white jerseys sold out.

After the incident with Dallas Drake, and other incidents, it's become clear that Corey Perry may just be one of the most hated players in the entire league. He's skilled and is a great hockey player, but he plays with an edge and does the occasional thing that makes everyone hate him. For a group of fans that embrace the toughest and dirtiest team in the league label, we should also embrace this.

While reading through the "helmet fighter" thread, a poster pointed out how only Ducks fans support Perry, and you know, he's right. Now, I know people didn't like the whole team avatars for the regular season, but maybe we should reconsider. This is kind of like what Kings fans did for Sean Avery, but our photoshop guys are better, and I think this could be a gooder. We should make avatars to use for a while showing how much we love Corey ****ing Perry. Everyone else seems to hate him, so why not show how great of a player he is through Corey ****ing Perry(or some other name that just shows how great he is) avatars?

We have the photoshop specialists, as seen by our playoff avatars, so, if everyone'e up for it, and these guys can make it happen, I figure it'd make for a real nice laugh. Anyone else up for this?

yep, the Ducks did rough the wings up... and got severely out played. You're lucky your goalie was sharp a the end of that game or else there wouldn't have been an overtime. I see a nice rivalry building here, I'm liking it.

You definitely do have Pronger, Bertuzzi, and Perry though and, in my opinion, players that are hated by fans of opposing teams are usually great players to have.

I look forward to seeing what you guys come up with as far as a Perry avatar goes (I hate him), way to embrace the hate. :)

In last nights case, I think Perry might have identified who it was first and that is why he was so willing to have a go. Drake was suspended 1 game in Perry's rookie season for a head shot (Perry received a concussion from it). Perhaps Perry read the name on the jersey and took a run.

I don't know if any of you guys play Starcraft, but any chance you'd be able to do Perry's face inside the marine's suit? They had a trailer for Starcraft II where they had the marine with his helm open, but I don't know if there's a still of it. I figure the type of unit the marine is (the get their hands dirty, backbone of the forces) and Perry (get in the oppositions face, does the dirty work, is vital to his line and team) kind of go together.

This may come as a shock, but I am here to express my love for the way Corey Perry plays. I am a Wings fan and I may get banned from that board for admitting this.

I think he has great talent, and I love his aggresiveness, brashness and cockiness. Its guys like that who are sandpaper players who are harder than hell to play against. Dont get me wrong, he will piss me off A LOT as a member of the Ducks, but I would love it if he played for Detroit.

How about a photoshop of Perry's head attached to different bodies? Like Darth Vader, Psycho, Superman, ridiculously big-breasted babe, Osama Bin Laden etc. Perry's head with a helmet on attached to the body of a boxer or a MMA-figher would be great.

You could also do the same with Pronger and Bertuzzi.

I'd love if anyone can think of other disasters/hated players to do too. Other scenarios that crossed through my mind but I exxed out because I wasn't sure they could work include the Kennedy assassination (where would I put the player?), the Challenger accident (ditto), handing the hemlock in the "Death of Socrates," handing the apple to Eve (it's hard to find a "handing something" type pose), Cleopatra's suicide (I swear there's some famous painting of her but I couldn't find it).

Sure, whatever tragedy you feel like. Go wild. Although personally I prefer old disasters, just because it's not as fresh. Like Pronger elbowing the WTC would look great, but I just can't get myself to do that.

I was toying with a Katrina idea, where there's a satellite picture of Katrina and a Duck behind it pointing it towards New Orleans. But I couldn't find a good "pointing" picture (just as hard to find as a "holding something out" picture).

I also thought about an elbow for the Titanic, but in my mind the iconic picture is while it's sinking, not as it's getting hit by the iceburg. So I just put Perry on an iceberg celebrating.

The only other problem is most of these pictures are too large (and not square) that I'm not sure they can be made into avatars. Like the ones I did, if you squared it and made it 125x125 or whatever you wouldn't be able to tell what it is because the player would be too small.

Cyclone: I thought of the plague too... but is there some kind of famous painting of it or something? How would you know it's the plague if it's just some random picture?

In Photoshop you add something called "stroke," which adds an outline to a layer. I put like 2 pts of outline in my pictures. Try searching for "stroke" and see if that's it. If you can't figure it out you might just want black letters, the orange is hard to see with the pink sky. I like it though, especially Jiggy's pose.

The horsemen's heads are so small that it's really hard to tell who's who. The funny thing is I had actually thought about doing the bomb one, but lazed out on it until it got requested. Great minds think alike, I guess.

The secret to the horsemen is you have two layers of the base painting. Put the face in between the two layers, and erase a little hole in the top layer so the face pokes through. That way you don't have to spend as much time with precision erasing. Also it makes changing to another face picture really easy (in case you want to swap two faces).

You should get that pic of the checking line holding the cup, put the flags of Iran, Iraq, and North Korea behind them, and call it the "Axis of Evil."

Just a few more ideas since quite a few of the players have been left out. One could be done with the Vikings for Sammy, or possibly Sammy sending down the Apocalypse.

Maybe have one with Andy Mac as Napoleon (based on stature), or the execution of King Louis XVI (obviously Napoleon did't execute him himself but he was a lead general in the revolution).

I realize these players aren't exactly hated, however they are very physical and Andy Mac has really developed an edge lately.

Good concept, but your avatar looks squished. Try cropping it so it's more square before uploading it. Also the text needs to be bigger font or a different color or something, I can't read it. And bold the text too, that helps.

If you're asking me about the eye, I just have MS paint, so I traced the letters in the pupil part of the eye so they were dark, but still textured, then copy and pasted them around it. Shoulda planned it out better.

I just want to say, this is one is by far my favorite that I've done. :)
