DreamCatcher 01-03-2007, 07:59 PM Burke throwing his draft picks in the trash again. Davey Duck 01-03-2007, 08:12 PM Anybody out there know what happened to him? #5 overall pick. Much hyped at the time. Just highly overrated? Injuries? Something else? Is he useful at all anymore? TeMoZ 01-03-2007, 08:13 PM i think hes a good pickup welcome to the ducks Ric!! CANUCKS 01-03-2007, 08:14 PM i wonder how he feels from being a bottom feeder in the east to suddenly jump to 1st in the west..must be a good feeling Static 01-03-2007, 08:31 PM eh BraveSirRobin 01-03-2007, 08:42 PM I haven't seen him play, so I'll wait until the next game to say if I like the trade or not. But he can't be bad, right? Ducksforcup 01-03-2007, 08:48 PM I like the move. Jackman is definitely an offensive defensemen and we need one. Plus, he provides another veteran presence. Miami Panther 01-03-2007, 08:48 PM he is an offensive defenseman who can at times be suspect on defense. i have always felt that he could become a fairly decent player but he wasnt given much of a chance in FL. i wish him the best and hope he turns out to be a great filler for you guys and perhaps turn into a serviceable player during your run for the cup. LadyByngJeanRatelle 01-03-2007, 08:49 PM he is an offensive defenseman who can at times be suspect on defense. i have always felt that he could become a fairly decent player but he wasnt given much of a chance in FL. i wish him the best and hope he turns out to be a great filler for you guys and perhaps turn into a serviceable player during your run for the cup. at times? he's in Andy Delmore territory. Zoo 01-03-2007, 08:59 PM Big right hand shot, he can help on the powerplay with his shot. But he isn't very good in his own end. TOG26 01-03-2007, 09:03 PM His biggest critism has been a lack of work ethic and wanted things handed to him in the past. But he does have a lot of skill. chaosrevolver 01-03-2007, 09:33 PM I like this move by the Ducks. Jackman had 30 points in 64 games last year Davey Duck 01-03-2007, 09:43 PM I like this move by the Ducks. Jackman had 30 points in 64 games last year LOL, I'm dumb. I was looking at his stats on Yahoo and didn't notice his last two seasons were played on 2 different teams. I thought he had a bad year last year, but I was only looking at his 15 Florida games. Why has he only played 7 games this year? Injuries? 03-04: 9+21=30P 05-06: 7+23=30P Before that, his offense is almost nonexistant due to not playing much at all. Snap Wilson 01-03-2007, 09:51 PM Burke throwing his draft picks in the trash again. Yeah, his track record so far is horrible, isn't it? Oh, wait... Snap Wilson 01-03-2007, 09:52 PM This pickup worries me. I'm wondering if Pronger is going to be out longer than they initially thought. Davey Duck 01-03-2007, 10:06 PM This pickup worries me. I'm wondering if Pronger is going to be out longer than they initially thought. In a way, this doesn't worry me. It actually seems like a solid pickup for a 4-6 defenseman. If we traded a 3rd or a 4th rounder, I can't really see a whole lot of problems with this. Burke likely didn't trade a 1st or 2nd for him since we are almost tapped out of those. I think this may be a good trade with or without the Pronger injury, an upgrade over the 57 rookies we have in line waiting to play D right now. Claudio_Sanchez 01-03-2007, 10:20 PM I like this deal. Jackman has some offensive potential when you look at the years he had in Pittsburgh so this solves any questions we had on our defensive depth and for now stops the bleeding. Maybe all he needs is someone like Burke and Carlyle on his *** night in night out. Spankatola Jamnuts 01-03-2007, 10:22 PM This pickup worries me. I'm wondering if Pronger is going to be out longer than they initially thought. Seems more like a Beauchemin replacement to me. An offensive option that Huskins, Rome, and DiPenta will never be. Hank 01-03-2007, 11:06 PM Anybody out there know what happened to him? #5 overall pick. Much hyped at the time. Man, the 96 draft sure did suck. kenabnrmal 01-03-2007, 11:19 PM NHL-level talent. Decent addition, regardless of how he played on the teams before now. lux_interior 01-04-2007, 12:12 AM Seems more like a Beauchemin replacement to me. An offensive option that Huskins, Rome, and DiPenta will never be. This seems like a reasonable assumption. Didn't Pronger say in the intermission interview that he expected to be skating again in 10-14 days? chaosrevolver 01-04-2007, 12:39 AM the great thing about this we might not have to end up giving anything to Floirda because its only a conditional pick lux_interior 01-04-2007, 12:41 AM the great thing about this we might not have to end up giving anything to Floirda because its only a conditional pick Well, but if I had to guess the condition probably has to do with how much Jackman plays for us. So if he doesn't play much we don't give them anything. Nothing for nothing. Davey Duck 01-04-2007, 01:00 AM http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y210/daveyg013/RicJackmanAvatarOriginal1.jpg It's a bird... It's a plane... No, it's JackMan! http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y210/daveyg013/RicJackManAvatar1.jpg LOL, I'm having too much fun with avatars lately. Heaton 01-04-2007, 01:03 AM This pickup worries me. I'm wondering if Pronger is going to be out longer than they initially thought. Not sure if this means anything, but I was down at The Athenaeum in downtown Detroit (the hotel where most of the teams who play the Wings stay at) and saw Pronger before the game going over to the restaurant to get some food. He was in a walking cast, but if he made the road trip I don't think he'll be out for that long. FissionFire 01-04-2007, 01:13 AM I might be wrong, but a "conditional" draft pick doesn't mean that you don't give one up unless conditions are met. It means that the round the pick is in is dependant on whether or not certain conditions are met. So this could be something like a 6th rounder or a 2nd rounder depending on how Jackman plays. Davey Duck 01-04-2007, 01:21 AM And just because I'm learning how to do animated avatars... http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y210/daveyg013/JackManFlyingOff.gif It lost some color, but it's avatar friendly. DucksWon'07 01-04-2007, 01:23 AM This pickup worries me. I'm wondering if Pronger is going to be out longer than they initially thought. Well Bryz came back two games after picking up Caron, so I'm not so worried that is the case. Ducksforcup 01-04-2007, 01:23 AM And just because I'm learning how to do animated avatars... http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y210/daveyg013/JackManFlyingOff.gif It lost some color, but it's avatar friendly. Wow, that is so cool! :) Your quite talented! :) DAVEY! McDonald19 01-04-2007, 01:24 AM Burke throwing his draft picks in the trash again. Do you know what a conditional pick is?...might as well call it future considerations. Unless you know something we don't know about the conditions this probably will turn out to be simply the Ducks taking Jackman off The Panthers hands free of charge. ktulu98 01-04-2007, 02:42 AM I have feeling that jackman will turn into very good adition, carlyle will be all night long on his *** and i think he will be doing allright. And if he was traded to best team in NHL I think he will realize what chance he has now and will work harder on himself as ever good luck ric Bobby Ryan Getzlaf 01-04-2007, 02:50 AM My guess is that he's replacing Beauchemin for now. Huskins is there to replace Pronger. I have good feelings about Jackman, if he can have someone defensively responsible with him, and maybe learn from all the vets we have, he could turn out into a good player for this team. I could even see him bump DiPenta out when everyone's healthy. ktulu98 01-04-2007, 03:33 AM I could even see him bump DiPenta out when everyone's healthy. that's more than probable Static 01-04-2007, 04:07 AM that's more than probable I doubt that. I will be surprised if Jackman fills Dipenta's role as a stay-at-home dman...maybe Carslyle will change the role to fit him better. Mat P 01-04-2007, 04:39 AM Seems more like a Beauchemin replacement to me. An offensive option that Huskins, Rome, and DiPenta will never be. Just want to know why would you guys want to replace Beauchemin, isn't he doing is job right ? Every time Beauchemin is mentionned in a conversation in montreal coverage on the NHL they just say how it sucks that we let him go and how good he plays. Would be nice to have the opinion of a ducks fan. I don't think he is an offensive defenseman but I hear he's pretty solid in his own zone. Would be nice to have the opinion of a ducks fan. I don't think he is an offensive defenseman but I hear he's pretty solid in his own zone. Injury replacement. Beauchemin's out at least a month. Possibly longer than Pronger. Beauchemin's doing fine. He eats up tons of minutes. His offensive stats have taken a slight hit with Pronger stealing his PP time. Other than a few mistakes here and there, he's a solid d-man, especially for a 2nd year player. Ducksforcup 01-04-2007, 05:04 AM Details on the pick: http://www.latimes.com/sports/hockey/nhl/ducks/la-sp-dux4jan04,1,778694.story?coll=la-headlines-sports-nhl-ducks The Ducks gave up a seventh-round pick, but it would move to the sixth round if they get to the Stanley Cup finals. The move came after Chris Pronger and Francois Beauchemin went out with injuries until February. Talk about little risk/high reward! This trade looks even better now! :) Davey Duck 01-04-2007, 05:08 AM Details on the pick: http://www.latimes.com/sports/hockey/nhl/ducks/la-sp-dux4jan04,1,778694.story?coll=la-headlines-sports-nhl-ducks A 6th round at best? This trade rules. Basically a no lose situation as long as Jackman doesn't suck so bad he destroys the team. Heavy Hussar 01-04-2007, 11:33 AM wow 6th rd pick. its funny how a bunch of other teams have been looking for a bottom pairing defenseman complaining they cant get one because of the salary cap. and as soon as burke goes looking, bam. done deal. i have a feeling (just a feeling) that jackman is really going to do well here, and will turn out to be a solid addition of beauchemin-like proportions. i could see him pushing down odonnell when everyone is healthy. All Hail Burke  :yo: BowDown2Chistov 01-04-2007, 01:08 PM what I want to know is after pronger and Beauchemin come back who gets demoted? huskins will be back in portland but out of dipenta obrian and jackmen whos gonna be out? Kevin Forbes 01-04-2007, 01:15 PM what I want to know is after pronger and Beauchemin come back who gets demoted? huskins will be back in portland but out of dipenta obrian and jackmen whos gonna be out? The Ducks will jump that bridge when they come to it. Beauchemin is expected to be out a while, so any number of things can happen in the meantime. It might force another trade, or more likely, the team will play with seven defensemen, rotating Dipenta and Jackman. Unless O'Brien plays himself out of the lineup (highly unlikely considering his play to date), I don't think any other defenseman is ticketed to join Moran in Portland. Davey Duck 01-04-2007, 02:10 PM Once Pronger is back in the lineup, this gives the Ducks roster 5 Top 10 draft picks and 9 1st rounders overall. Only 2 of those 9 were on our NHL roster before Burke got here (Rob Nieds and Jiggy). Giguere27 01-04-2007, 03:33 PM I really like this one.jackman has a big offensive upside and this is really important now as Scottie cannot do everything on his own.I would like to see jackman paired with Scottie, this has also helped Beauchemin. When pronger and Beauchemin come back, we have another solid number 6 defender, who causes a battle for the spots. chaosrevolver 01-04-2007, 04:51 PM WHAT A STEAL:yo: Kick Save 01-04-2007, 05:32 PM A 6th round at best? This trade rules. Basically a no lose situation as long as Jackman doesn't suck so bad he destroys the team. All Jackman has to do is be better than Aaron Rome (at this stage in his career) to make the deal worthwhile. A 6th-round pick is virtually nothing. Jackman may not have come close to living up to his potential---at least not yet---but he does have valuable NHL experience. Huskins and Rome were/are NHL neophytes. O'Brien is a rookie and DiPenta has one season-plus under his belt. That would be four d-man with little or no experience. Jackman is a very low-risk alternative. Randall Graves* 01-04-2007, 07:40 PM I always liked him when he played with Pittsburgh, seems like a pretty decent risk to take :dunno: Where's the Mighty 01-04-2007, 08:26 PM I think the Ducks will suit him very well, i think he'll put up 20pts and a +10 here Dirk316 01-06-2007, 01:59 AM I think the Ducks will suit him very well, i think he'll put up 20pts and a +10 here :dunce: :banghead: BraveSirRobin 01-06-2007, 02:02 AM I haven't seen him play, so I'll wait until the next game to say if I like the trade or not. But Christ, I wept the 3rd period. Davey Duck 01-06-2007, 02:40 AM A 6th round at best? This trade rules. Basically a no lose situation as long as Jackman doesn't suck so bad he destroys the team. I quote myself, just so everyone see that I put the perfect disclaimer on my quote that this was a steal. He sucked really bad tonight. Static 01-06-2007, 02:44 AM I quote myself, just so everyone see that I put the perfect disclaimer on my quote that this was a steal. He sucked really bad tonight. There was a time when I told you not to speak. I believe that time has come again. lux_interior 01-06-2007, 03:20 AM So anybody wanna go for that Jackman avatar? Spankatola Jamnuts 01-06-2007, 04:36 AM What the hell is with Ric and not Rick. That's just ghetto. You're in the big leagues now. Buy yourself a K. Or a k I guess. You wouldn't want to be RicK. Jerky Leclerc 01-06-2007, 04:44 AM So anybody wanna go for that Jackman avatar? The most hated man in Anaheim? I think we shall not... I just came back from vacation only to hear the closing minute of the game. When they said Jackman, I was hoping it was Barret. Boy was I disappointed to find out it was Ric. I believe in 1996, the Ducks were hoping to draft Ric. They had to settle for Ruslan Salei. 10 years later and we have come a full circle. McDonald19 01-06-2007, 03:55 PM Is it too late to send him back to Florida? Recall Rome make Jackman the 7th d-man healthy scratch. ktulu98 01-06-2007, 04:00 PM I dont want to start new thread, but do you guys think we could use allison? Heavy Hussar 01-06-2007, 04:02 PM jackman was great. screening the goalie, deflecting pucks. 2 goals! sorry. man was i wrong on this one.
