Ducksforcup 01-03-2007, 01:15 AM So, yah a positive thread. I think we can all use one. We can come up with some avatar ideas and discuss all the good things that have happened.
...and no negative comments allowed!
K, I'll start...Getzlaf played a good game today. :)

Varius 01-03-2007, 01:54 AM Bryz scared me on a couple shots tonight, but for someone who hasn't played in awhile and still might not be 100% (is he 100% yet or was he rushed back to play?), he did make some very solid rebound-less saves :)
Positive: Dan Cloutier is not in our goaltender pipeline.
Positive: Aaron Rome didn't crap his pants.
Positive: Bryzgalov didn't say anything embarassing (to the best of my knowledge).
Bryzgalovs was actually pretty solid, can't really blame him for the two goals.
Getzlaf played a good early game, at the end he gave up like most of the team. Ugh, I mean... he was awesome.

Boobs are good
Randall Graves* 01-03-2007, 04:17 AM Maybe i'm the only one that feels this way but i'm not all that concerned.
We are missing 2 players who are top 5 guys at their positions, and our best faceoff guy(a reason the PK has been struggling as Marchant is maybe our best PK'er).
The team is still staying in games, they weren't going to play at that pace all year, let's see how things go once we get our guys back.
This is going to be good for a guy like SOB, he's going to get a ton of minutes, this'll help us come playoff time.
Almost every championship team faces some struggles during the season, this is one for the ducks they'll be fine.
Vulak 01-03-2007, 06:09 AM Im not concerned either and im sorta happy about those losses. It just proves to our team that we are not immortal and we will need to do lots of work to bring cup to home.
Im happy that Bryzgalov got to play and we stood up vs wings with a crippled team :) good to see rooks getting playtime and their chances to show that they can play NHL.

I think most of us can agree to that.
When I get upset or worried about our losses, I think back to the Pierre Page days, then I get happy again. Nothing could be half as bad as that. Nothing.
snarktacular 01-03-2007, 03:45 PM No one was injured in Detroit.
Duck Fan 01-03-2007, 04:49 PM Despite all the injuries and the *** calls from the referees the Ducks have been in every game.

Pahlsson is our best PKer. But the lack of Marchant's faceoff ability is hurting us in all aspects of the game.
I, for one, blame Pronger's injury directly on Marchant's. I mean Todd would have WON that draw. :sarcasm:

Exactly. That and a 7 point lead on the conference is enough to keep me positive for now.

You are probably right about that :sarcasm:

And I'm the one who get's an infraction.:dunno: :shakehead
Does anyone remember that blasting wrister Robby Nieds shot last night? Brought me back. The twins line has been playing solid (no matter who the 3rd man is) and has seen extended ice time. Maybe the Nieds line can see more ice time and Robby can put up some numbers. He's been a hard working part of this team for a long time, I would love to see him rewarded with some stats.
Dirk316 01-03-2007, 08:25 PM The more Shannon continues to stink up the joint the better the chance Z gets called up. ;)
kenabnrmal 01-03-2007, 10:17 PM ducks_e_halos is pretty hot....
lux_interior 01-03-2007, 11:14 PM Word.
Positive: I'm positive we are on a losing streak. And I'm more of an *** man myself. But boobs are good too. Especially big fake ones.

Some body needed to say it, boobs are great, but I need a big round booty!
BraveSirRobin 01-04-2007, 12:21 AM Yay 4 boobs?
Spankatola Jamnuts 01-04-2007, 01:10 AM And I'm the one who get's an infraction.:dunno: :shakehead
What? You don't like boobs?
Static 01-04-2007, 01:18 AM Infraction is the bizzaro term for 'woody'.
Get with the times.
DucksWon'07 01-04-2007, 02:02 AM What? You don't like boobs?
No I'm talking about a past incident when a sharks mod warned me for saying something no worse than that.
Boobs are alright in my book.
ShadowOni 01-04-2007, 11:16 AM You guys got out to a good enough start that if the team falters a bit because of the recent rash of injuries it won't hurt your playoff chance. I really doubt you'd fall that far. The worst I could see is if you lost your division to say San Jose or Dallas you'd still be in the playoffs, just possibly without Home Ice Adv. At worst you'd fall to a 5-6 spot
It could shake up this way at worst
1-3 San Jose/Dallas
Detroit/Nashville
Somebody out of the NW Div
4 - 8 best point totals of the top non divisional winners of these teams. SJ/Dallas/Nashville/Detroit/Anaheim plus uhm 3 other teams, who knows who that ends up.
Anyhow what I am saying is that you've got a nice start, and if you go on a bit of a skid now it the time to do it, instead of say going into the playoffs...
By that time you may even fall under some people's radar... but anyhow regular season stuff is winning is nice and all but playoffs are what matters. Best reserve your best hockey then.
You could play .500 hockey and still fetch about 40 points, end up with 100 ish points and make the playoffs.
This is my line of thinking when I think of my team, the Sabres and the rough games I've seen them have, including last night's stinker in Ottawa
Kick Save 01-04-2007, 04:45 PM One big positive is the fact that Burke has picked up inexpensive replacements with NHL experience for the guys who have been injured. Obviously, nobody can replace Pronger. Pretty much can be said for the other guys who are out: they couldn't be replaced without giving up one or more valuable assets.
The fact that Burke has increased our salary cap much is important since that will enable him to tweek the roster a bit near the trade deadline if he thinks it's necessary.
I love the fact, though, that he hasn't just sat back on his heels.
