Per Wilcat on AD, Rome's been called up for Pronger..
ANAHEIM, Calif. - The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled defenseman Aaron Rome from the Portland Pirates, Anaheim's development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Rome, 23 (9/27/83), has appeared in 33 games with Portland in 2006-2007, earning 4-9=13 points with 55 penalty minutes and a +8 rating. The 6-1, 230-pound defenseman played 64 games with Portland a season ago, setting professional career highs in goals (5), assists (19) and points (24). Rome has never appeared in an NHL game.
A native of Nesbitt, Manitoba, Rome was signed as a free agent on June 7, 2004. He was originally drafted by Los Angeles in the fourth round (104th overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

Can we just leave Scotty out there the whole game?
That sounds good to me ;)

Yeah, it's bad when 4 out of your 6 defensemen should be bottom pairing D-men/healthy scratches/AHL guys. And your goalie's are AHL calibre.
We're gonna get killed against the Wings.

I like Rome, so I'm glad he's getting a shot (not glad of the reason why though :( )

Too bad we don't have anymore compound name players in Portland, I think we need another one. Of course we could always put McDonald on D.

is rome playing better then skinner? I just remember in preseason skinner looked really good, the only thing I noticed was he got caught a few times not able to get back in position, kinda like ozolinsh.

In a word, yes. I like Skinner's game, but like JR said, he's a tall skinny kid that doesn't hit a whole lot. Skinner looks like he could be a decent shot from the point if he'd get better at making himself available for the shot. Needs to work on the release. He has no physical element to his game at this time.
Rome hasn't been as good as he was last year, but if you're looking for a stay at home d man that can hit and play with an edge he fills the bill. Actually showed an uncharacteristic fire in his game during a dreadfull new years eve showing. When he's on his game you don't notice him until the glass rattles and somebody is peeling themselves off the boards.

Rome has been just fine during the first two periods against the Wings. Still, I imagine Burkie is working the phones as we speak in search of a veteran bottom-pairing d-man.
