Things just ducky for Marchant (Written by Bucky Gleason).
"I couldn't have asked for a better situation," Marchant said by telephone last week. "I couldn't have asked for a better organization to play for, especially with the way the entire thing went down. I was sitting home, not knowing what I was doing or where I was going. To be able to come to a team like this and have the success that we've had has been great."
Marchant will not play against his hometown team this season unless both reach the Stanley Cup finals. It's possible. Buffalo and Anaheim reached the conference finals last season, and both have become popular choices to take the season a step farther.
"The odds are obviously against it," Marchant said. "Hypothetically, it would be fantastic."

Who? Minnesota.
Where? Minnesota.
Why? F--- if I know.
When? A couple of hours from now.
What? Hockey!
How? Sober, hopefully.
What do we know about Minnesota:
1. They are coached by Jacques Lemaire, widely regarded as a "coaching genius" rather than the Antichrist because he invented the trap. Somehow, this "coaching genius" has missed the playoffs the past couple of years. Aww, I'm just kidding, Minny fans. Rock chalk Jacques!
2. Marian Gaborik is still hurt. Too bad.
3. Brian Rolston is awesome. Three penalty shot slapshot goals, beating Turco, Luongo and Kipper. That's king.
4. Derek Boogaard has participated in exactly one fight since caving in the Fridge's face, against George Laraque, who owned him. Nobody has dropped the gloves against the Boogeyman since.
Predictions: Ducks 3, Minnesota 2 (OT). And later on, Vodka bottle 2, MoneyP 0. Hard to get up for a game on New Year's Eve.
Go Ducks!!!
Ducksforcup 12-31-2006, 03:48 PM Ha, I just posted a minute before you. ;)
Doesn't matter, we can use this one or mine. :)
Sorry about that. I started way too late. Silly me for sleeping in until 12 O'Clock. :(
Jerky Leclerc 12-31-2006, 03:48 PM Aww, the trivia question today is SOOOOOOO easy. The answer is Sean O'Donnell.
hockeydemon05 12-31-2006, 03:50 PM Richard Park and Keith Carney have been captains for the Wild. But, I dont know about current players on the Ducks.
Sean O'Donnell played for the wild, maybe he was the captain. (why do they always change the captains?)
edit: dammit too late

The last thing I need is a cluster of nuts in my mouth.
Please win this game for the Canucks sake. For the whole NW sake lol.

Thats fantastic!
Spiral 12-31-2006, 04:00 PM Teemu Selanne's 1,000th game! GO DUCKS!
Davey Duck 12-31-2006, 04:01 PM I'm actually pretty excited to see what Caron can do. He's sort of an unknown quantity because he's played for such terrbile teams it's hard to read much from his stats. Like is rookie year: 7-14-2...horrendous. 2.64 GAA, .916 SV%...very nice.
His last couple year's weren't as good, but the Penguins weren't getting any better in front of him. He may turn out to be a stud in front of a real D. Maybe our future #2. Or maybe I'm getting way ahead of myself. Either way, I'm eager to see him play.
a79krgm 12-31-2006, 04:12 PM I'm attending the game so I hope it will be a good one.
One tip for the Ducks ... stay out of the box or Caron will see a lot of pucks from Rolston and Foster.
Geez I can't believe how many of our home games go to overtime and shootout. (I have dinner reservations at eight)
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 04:19 PM Aw, crap. Well, I think mine's better, anyway. :)
McDonald19 12-31-2006, 04:32 PM Parros was acquired for games like this...hope he is ready for Boogaard.
Thornton isn't scared of the Boogey man either...as he earned a draw against him in the 05 pre-season.
Davey Duck 12-31-2006, 04:35 PM Parros was acquired for games like this...hope he is ready for Boogaard.
Thornton isn't scared of the Boogey man either...as he earned a draw against him in the 05 pre-season.
I don't want Thornton's head to be caved in though. Parros, :dunno:
Jerky Leclerc 12-31-2006, 04:49 PM Thats fantastic!
3rd grade humor.
But back to the topic...
snarktacular 12-31-2006, 04:53 PM But Bellows was a Duck! He should be in our lineup! As part of our "million attempts to get secondary scoring besides Kariya and Selanne" line.
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-31-2006, 05:21 PM Don't we usually play games on new year's eve? I'm pretty sure Brett Hull scored the last goal of the millenium against us in 99.
I actually am going to watch this game live on TV. I haven't done that in forever. Too bad it's Minnesota, but still...
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-31-2006, 05:22 PM The last thing I need is a cluster of nuts in my mouth.
That's not what your mom said. Or maybe it was. Her voice was muffled.
Yeah, I went there.
Static 12-31-2006, 06:03 PM No Caron...whatevs.
bleuer 12-31-2006, 06:11 PM first game in 2007 for me :) happy new year, guys and girls...
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 06:13 PM Interesting to see Caron on the bench. I guess they didn't want him to jump right in. We'll probably see him against Detroit.
Static 12-31-2006, 06:13 PM Anyone else like Huskins a little more than Dipenta? He just moves so much better...
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 06:15 PM Good effort, but geez, positionally the team is all over the place. They look disorganized right now.
Static 12-31-2006, 06:17 PM Great save.
Static 12-31-2006, 06:18 PM Hw did he not score???
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 06:19 PM Anyone else like Huskins a little more than Dipenta? He just moves so much better...
I like Joe D. I think he's pretty solid for a third-pairing guy. He also deserves a lot of credit for being out there during that entire 3-on-5 against the Sharks.
Huskins isn't bad either. Neither guy tries to do too much.
Teemu scores! Wow, what a sequence that was.
Static 12-31-2006, 06:19 PM Wow. Beautiful.
Davey Duck 12-31-2006, 06:19 PM Tic-tac-teemu.
Static 12-31-2006, 06:20 PM Shannon got killed there.
bleuer 12-31-2006, 06:20 PM damn, radio.feed is about 1 minute behind...read about the goal here, then I hear it at the radio :)
Aeryn 12-31-2006, 06:20 PM Woohoo
And my avatar is still valid. :D
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 06:21 PM Ah, Boogaard, using his physical game against Ryan Shannon. Somebody pin a medal on him.
Static 12-31-2006, 06:22 PM Im sure Parros would have given him a mean looking smile from the bench if he was playing. A really mean smile.
Static 12-31-2006, 06:26 PM The guy was on his knees...crap highstick.
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 06:27 PM Could Boogaard have even seen it through the 'stache? Interesting that he's not playing, but I don't think Carlyle wants anyone dropping them with the Boogeyman anyway. Fridge wasn't supposed to, and look what happened.
McDonald19 12-31-2006, 06:28 PM Green takes a penalty for throwing a check for the second game in a row.
McDonald19 12-31-2006, 06:29 PM Could Boogaard have even seen it through the 'stache? Interesting that he's not playing, but I don't think Carlyle wants anyone dropping them with the Boogeyman anyway. Fridge wasn't supposed to, and look what happened.
Rumor is Parros is out with a bad shoulder.
Thornton is probably going to have to fight Boogaard with the way Boogaard is running around in this game.
bleuer 12-31-2006, 06:29 PM What are the lines, by the way?
Penner with the kids?
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 06:29 PM Wall looks much better tonight. Way more relaxed.
Static 12-31-2006, 06:30 PM Wall doesnt look too bad...confidence is good.
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 06:32 PM Good game so far for our boys. They're certainly performing way better than I ever have on December 31st.
bleuer 12-31-2006, 06:32 PM What's wrong with Pronger? He went to the locker room?
TeMoZ 12-31-2006, 06:32 PM What's wrong with Pronger? He went to the locker room?
looked like his back was stiff.
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 06:34 PM Wall is on tonight. He looks great.
Static 12-31-2006, 06:34 PM Wall looked like Giguere there...challenged the shooter and was square. Looks good. Whats this about Pronger being out?
bleuer 12-31-2006, 06:38 PM According to the radio guys, Pronger came back on the ice, stretched a little bit and went back to the dressing room...
Static 12-31-2006, 06:43 PM Can we keep the sticks down? Stupid penalties come in 4s I guess.
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 06:43 PM These high-sticking calls are getting ridiculous. It was caught in the guy's uniform, for chrissakes. What's Perry supposed to do?
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 06:44 PM There's the make-up call.
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 06:45 PM Good first period for our boys. The penalties suck, but most of those were incidental.
McDonald19 12-31-2006, 06:47 PM What are the lines, by the way?
Penner with the kids?
Kunitz-McDonald-Selanne
Penner-Green-Shannon
Moen-Pahlsson-Niedermayer
Thornton-Getzlaf-Perry
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-31-2006, 06:50 PM Penalty fest as usual. Keep your frigging sticks down.
To those who think Wall's played well: why? I think he looks scary as hell.
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 06:51 PM Pronger questionable to return, according to Minnesota's "sideline" guy. Well, it's better than being definitely out.
Can we stop with the injuries? Please?
bleuer 12-31-2006, 06:52 PM Kunitz-McDonald-Selanne
Penner-Green-Shannon
Moen-Pahlsson-Niedermayer
Thornton-Getzlaf-Perry
thx
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 06:53 PM Penalty fest as usual. Keep your frigging sticks down.
To those who think Wall's played well: why? I think he looks scary as hell.
When has he looked scary? I think he's looking pretty smooth. Always square to the shot, which didn't happen last game. I'd like him to come out and play a little "bigger" on those point shots, though.
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-31-2006, 06:54 PM He looks really slow to me with his reactions, and there's always a fat rebound.
McDonald19 12-31-2006, 06:54 PM probably just a bad bruise for Pronger from blocking that shot.
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 07:08 PM Like Wall, motherf**kers!
Stoned Rolston, very nice.
Pronger not returning. "Lower body injury."
Ducks_è_Halos 12-31-2006, 07:10 PM Like Wall, motherf**kers!
Stoned Rolston, very nice.
Pronger not returning. "Lower body injury."
Why do the injuries all come at the same time??:banghead:
Whoa, what's with this injury trend?
bleuer 12-31-2006, 07:16 PM So if Pronger does not return for the next game, it will be
Caron / Wall
Niedermayer-O'Brien
O'Donnell-DiPenta
Huskins-Moran
ewwww......
Ducks_è_Halos 12-31-2006, 07:19 PM Garon / Wall
interdivision trade? :D
Selanne diving?
Get out of here...
Static 12-31-2006, 07:21 PM This is stupid now.
BraveSirRobin 12-31-2006, 07:22 PM Anaheim takes another high sticking penalty.
bleuer 12-31-2006, 07:24 PM interdivision trade? :D
got it fixed...It's a new year, plz forgive me :)
BraveSirRobin 12-31-2006, 07:25 PM You've got to be kidding me. 2-1 Wild.
Davey Duck 12-31-2006, 07:26 PM Boo for penalties.
Static 12-31-2006, 07:26 PM They deserve to be losing. Stupid, stupid penalties.
Static 12-31-2006, 07:28 PM Too many men. These idiots.
Edit: Actually, that is a **** call.
Where's the Mighty 12-31-2006, 07:28 PM We never deserve to lose!!!! :shakehead
OT I traded Ovechkin for Andy Mac and Teemu...I rock!
deesee 12-31-2006, 07:29 PM Wow, we are falling apart.
BraveSirRobin 12-31-2006, 07:29 PM ANOTHER penalty?!?! Jeez.
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 07:29 PM Good game so far for our boys. They're certainly performing way better than I ever have on December 31st.
I'm almost ready to take this back.
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 07:30 PM This is getting ****ing ridiculous.
Static 12-31-2006, 07:30 PM Wow.
BraveSirRobin 12-31-2006, 07:31 PM Great, Anaheim's going to be down two men.
Davey Duck 12-31-2006, 07:31 PM ANOTHER penalty?!?! Jeez.
x2
deesee 12-31-2006, 07:32 PM Well, they scored again on the 2-man advantage.
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 07:32 PM 3-1. We're on the verge of mimicking San Jose's game last night.
Static 12-31-2006, 07:32 PM The refs are gift wrapping this game for the Wild. This is becoming a joke.
Davey Duck 12-31-2006, 07:32 PM This game has become really lame really quick.
BraveSirRobin 12-31-2006, 07:33 PM ****. I'm going to take another nap. They were doing better when I was asleep.
Static 12-31-2006, 07:33 PM 3-1. We're on the verge of mimicking San Jose's game last night.
Dont be ridiculous. Losing 8-0 to the Yotes as well as a hattrick by Roenick cannot be matched.
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 07:34 PM And no call on Carney there? If you're going to call 'em, then call 'em all, ref.
Static 12-31-2006, 07:34 PM Penalty to Minnesota?????? What does this mean?
Davey Duck 12-31-2006, 07:34 PM Carney just tackled Shannon. I thought he'd get a penalty for being a former Duck, but not calling one because he's a current Wild took precedence.
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 07:35 PM Dont be ridiculous. Losing 8-0 to the Yotes as well as a hattrick by Roenick cannot be matched.
Only because the Wild don't have anyone as lame as Roenick.
BraveSirRobin 12-31-2006, 07:35 PM Only Ducks can get penalties. Or so I thought, at least from this game.
edit:We get a PP! Yay!
Jerky Leclerc 12-31-2006, 07:36 PM Ducks: 1
Refs: 3
Oh and we're playing the Wild tonight
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 07:37 PM Jesus, I nearly put my eye out with a Prosecco cork.
BraveSirRobin 12-31-2006, 07:38 PM Ducks score! Finally!
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 07:38 PM Whoo hoo! Scott Nieds! Let's salvage this mess.
Static 12-31-2006, 07:38 PM Heh
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 07:41 PM Wild penalty! ****, I'm saving this cork.
BraveSirRobin 12-31-2006, 07:41 PM Hey hey, the Ducks get another power play.
Davey Duck 12-31-2006, 07:41 PM I think the refs like watching power plays. They are calling everything tonight. 13 PP's now.
McDonald19 12-31-2006, 07:51 PM So if Pronger does not return for the next game, it will be
Caron / Wall
Niedermayer-O'Brien
O'Donnell-DiPenta
Huskins-Moran
ewwww......
yeah I think I'd prefer Aaron Rome though...
Static 12-31-2006, 07:55 PM Nieds has played 21 minutes so far....30 for the night with ease.
McDonald19 12-31-2006, 07:59 PM I have to agree with Hayward...the 2 bad calls that jump out are the Selanne dive and the too many men penalty. The Green Phantom high stick is another.
Selanne was clearly bumped and he clearly played it up for the refs. So either call Minnesota for interference and Selanne for diving...or call nothing.
Like Hayward said, there are 2 refs on the ice for a reason...we don't need linesmen making marginal too many men on the ice calls.
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 08:01 PM I didn't see the play where Teemu was called for diving, but I'm gonna be honest. There were a few games where he was going down easier than... oh, never mind. I don't know if he's relying on rep or what, but it's a habit I'd like to have him broken of.
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 08:04 PM Big save by Wall on that turnover. He deserves a W here. Let's get it for him, boys.
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 08:05 PM Teemu with the rocket! Tie game, *****es!
BraveSirRobin 12-31-2006, 08:05 PM Teemu makes up for that diving call and ties it up.
Davey Duck 12-31-2006, 08:05 PM PP #14. This one for the good guys.
And Teemu ties it! 4 goals in two games.
190Octane 12-31-2006, 08:06 PM **** Minnesota and Lemaire.
Atta boy Teemu!
Sinistrophobia 12-31-2006, 08:06 PM Anyone want to let me in on Pronger's abcense?
BraveSirRobin 12-31-2006, 08:08 PM Anyone want to let me in on Pronger's abcense?
He took a puck to his ankle in the first I think. He won't be back for the rest of the game.
BraveSirRobin 12-31-2006, 08:14 PM Ducks get another PP.
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 08:16 PM Andy Mac, paying the price. Nicely done.
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 08:17 PM Andy Mac, paying the price. Nicely done.
Perry too. I love this team.
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-31-2006, 08:22 PM This has been a great game, lots of momentum shifts. Nice tempo. Keeping Pronger healthy would have been nice.
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 08:22 PM Wow, beauty of a move by McDonald.
BraveSirRobin 12-31-2006, 08:23 PM Travis Green goes to the box. Ducks on the PK.
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 08:24 PM John Belushi, two minutes for interference.
Davey Duck 12-31-2006, 08:24 PM Smith went down pretty easy there. Green barely even touched him.
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-31-2006, 08:24 PM Jesus tapdancing Christ. How many lame penalties can we take.
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 08:26 PM Nice kill.
BraveSirRobin 12-31-2006, 08:26 PM ****. Minnesota scores. Goddammit.
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 08:27 PM Ah, ****.
Static 12-31-2006, 08:27 PM There is the ineveitable softy. Feel bad for Wall...
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-31-2006, 08:27 PM Wall'd.
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 08:27 PM Oh Jesus, and another penalty. Beautiful.
Static 12-31-2006, 08:27 PM Are you kidding me?????
Edit: It is amazing how one-sided the calls have been in this game...
BraveSirRobin 12-31-2006, 08:27 PM Oh give me a break. We get another penalty.
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-31-2006, 08:28 PM Ducks have been pretty lazy tonight, lots of these garbage penalties. I'll be glad when the holidays are over and they remember how to work.
Davey Duck 12-31-2006, 08:29 PM WHAT!?!?!? I just watched that 10 times! There is NOOOOOO penalty. There is almost NOOOOOO contact.
EDIT: Nevermind, Hayward giving me false information.
Static 12-31-2006, 08:30 PM How did ODonnell miss that. Terrible.
Lyons71 12-31-2006, 08:31 PM The question of the day is: How many stupid penalties can the Ducks take before they lose?
The answer: The amount they took today.
What a gay game. All they did was shoot themselves in the foot.
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 08:32 PM Let's get one, boys. Nobody likes an angry drunk.
Davey Duck 12-31-2006, 08:35 PM Wow, the linesman also stopping our dump ins. Damn.
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 08:35 PM Take your time, guys. There's not a clock running or anything.
Static 12-31-2006, 08:35 PM Lets get the refs a jersey, they want to play.
BraveSirRobin 12-31-2006, 08:36 PM Come on, you have to keep those in the zone.
And it's over. Thank god.
Snap Wilson 12-31-2006, 08:36 PM Ugh, **** with that. Goodbye 2006.
First time all year we haven't gotten a point in two consecutive games. Is that right?
190Octane 12-31-2006, 08:36 PM Ridiculous.
Having Shane O'Brien as your number two isn't nearly as good as having him as your number four.
Davey Duck 12-31-2006, 08:38 PM It's like the referees decided a few weeks ago to starting ****ing with the Ducks by calling as many phantom penalties as possible.
Jerky Leclerc 12-31-2006, 08:41 PM The Ducks are struggling big time. Wall made alot of good saves but couldn't stop the one that counted the most. You have to give credit to Selanne and Niedermayer for raising their game tonight. However, there's just too many holes right now.
hockeydemon05 12-31-2006, 08:41 PM let the drinking begin...
happy new years!
Jerky Leclerc 12-31-2006, 08:46 PM The schedule maker didn't do us any favors playing Detroit x 2, Columbus, Nashville, and Dallas next.
go kim johnsson 514 12-31-2006, 08:57 PM The Ducks are struggling big time. Wall made alot of good saves but couldn't stop the one that counted the most. You have to give credit to Selanne and Niedermayer for raising their game tonight. However, there's just too many holes right now.
I watched most of that game, Wall don't look too bad. Sort of reminded me of Niitty when he came up in 2004.
McDonald19 12-31-2006, 09:15 PM Wall is a good first save goalie...he needs work on rebound control.
If he figures that out he will be an NHL goalie for a long time...maybe not a starter but at least a backup.
Did Keith Carney get injured in the win?
He only played 12:13 icetime and that's not like Keith Carney -- especially being their captain.
Ducksforcup 12-31-2006, 09:24 PM Well, way too many penalties, but IMO a lot of the calls were questionable.
Still, with Pronger out and Nieds playing 34 minutes, this was a tough game to win.
LETS GO DUCKS!!! :) :yo:

Yeah, I'll bet they take the C away from him after this game . . . :D
lux_interior 01-01-2007, 02:12 AM From the ******** calls to stopping the puck on the dump in, my 3 stars go to:
1. Brad Meier
2. Dan O' Rourke
3. Mike Cvik
and if I could give a 4th star:
4. Dan Galloway
snarktacular 01-01-2007, 12:01 PM All they did was shoot themselves in the foot.
Themselves... and Pronger.
But the good thing is we do have a bunch of close to NHL-ready defensemen in Portland, so knee-jerk trade for dman!= imminent.
snarktacular 01-01-2007, 12:07 PM So I didn't watch this game so I can't really provide much useful info, but did Getzlaf really play more than any other forward (almost 22 min)? So with Pronger possibly out does Niedermayer now play 40 minutes a game to compensate? Hurt us though it may, I think we'd be better off just giving young defensemen a LOT more time, we have to be careful not to burn out/injure the few established defensemen we have.
Spankatola Jamnuts 01-01-2007, 03:18 PM Getzlaf did a lot of special teams duty.
Wall is not a good goalie. Maybe one day he will be, but he isn't now. If the team insists on playing lazily and taking penalties, we won't be doing much winning anymore.
lux_interior 01-01-2007, 10:13 PM We didn't deserve to win. That much is obvious. I just hate it when the refs and linesmen are the biggest players in the outcome of a game.
