feerlessleadr 12-30-2006, 02:57 AM On tonight's post game show with scott gomez and during the second intermission interview with him he said that someone talked to him and the egg line and told them to pick it up. he said during both interviews that he wouldnt say who...who do you think it was? :dunno:
personally i think it was lou.
MissionHockey 12-30-2006, 03:00 AM Could have been Stevens, he's been known to pop his head in the dressing room from time to time.
Jamie1 12-30-2006, 03:07 AM I think it was Daneyko though I'm not sure where their studio is compared to the locker room. I think he mentioned Scott or Egg during his segment I believe.
crashlanding 12-30-2006, 03:28 AM My bet is on Johnny Mac. Gomez probably wouldn't mention it because it would make Julien look bad. I mean I can see Dano or Stevens talking to them, but to have Dano lecturing someone on scoring just doesn't strike me as something that would be that effective. Maclean though can probably speak from experience.
Hell Elias has been on a tear the entire month, it's Gomez and Gionta who needed the peptalk.

That's true never thought about that.
I Hate Tie DOMI 12-30-2006, 09:13 AM I say Jay Pandolfo, just because I saw him Gionta and Gomez talking during one of the breaks and laughing with each other. I don't think it was a serious speech, just probably a little wager to get Gomer going.
JimEIV 12-30-2006, 09:46 AM My first thought was Stevens but after thinking about it, I think it must have been Lou.
Devilsfanatic 12-30-2006, 10:08 AM It was his dad. The quote in the paper was that "start earning the 5 million." of course his dad is going to tell him that, because if he doesn't have a good year, he's not going to hit his payday jackpot, no one is going to shell out a lot of money on ONE good year that wasn't even the year he was eligible to be FA. Personally I hope Gomez stays luke warm, it'll keep his price a bit lower. Something like maybe 15 goals 45 assists for 60 points, no one will pay 6 or 7 million for a 60 point player (at least I'd hope not in todays cap world)
David Puddy 12-30-2006, 10:57 AM I thought Lou Lamoriello was the "someone" to whom Scott Gomez refered. Gomer also said, "Playing for the Devils, the ultimate goal is to win," which sounds like something that would come from the very soul of Lou Lamoriello.
I also had a humorous thought that it was Scott's agent/father Carlos Gomez who told them to score more because his free-agent status coming in the summer of 2007. Boy, I hope the Devils can retain Gomez at a reasonable price.
At the end of the interview, cutting off Steve Cangelosi in mid sentence, Scott Gomez wished Happy Holidays to Alia family, the McWilliams, the Gomezes, the Russells, the Shorts and the Rolands. I hope he got your family in there sandman441.
goin2hell 12-30-2006, 12:55 PM I personally liked it when he said he makes Marty look like a bantam goalie when he faces him in practice! Gomer always looks like he is having fun, Its good to see.

that is my number 2 guess
and i actually completely agree about hoping he stays luke warm so we can keep him at a reasonable price...

That SOB no he actually didn't which is kind of surprising as we were over at his parents house on christmas Day.
That's OK he has a bad haircut and when I see him I'm going to tell him.

That's funny. Tell him to get that moustache again with Colin White!

That was alot better look than a shaved head. Though I don't think he can do the hair thing anymore because on a commercial you could see a nice bald spot starting on the top of his head. I don't know if it was from his helmet or if he's starting to go bald. I probably won't see him until the summer though. I wish I kept his AIM name.
Jamie1 12-30-2006, 03:41 PM :speechles Don't know why I didn't think of this before but when I see my brother next time I'll see if he knows. He's in the Macs tournament right now and doing kind of bad but I'm not sure when he will get back.
GentlemanOfLeisure 12-30-2006, 04:31 PM I'm not a fan of Scott Gomez's. I don't care who said that too him, it should take a speech to get him going. He's lazy.

Lazy, but when he gets going he is a real threat.

I wouldn't say lazy, but leisurely, a west-coast casual style dude. It's not necessarily bad but can be misunderstood. He demonstrated a lot of hard work last year when working on his shot with Laperiere.
If he has a flaw it's that he is not self-motivated. Needs a kick in the pants every now and then. This too is not a huge problem if the coaches and teammates recognize this and help him keep his focus. I fully expect him to have a huge second half like the second half last year where he was one of the best players in the league.
Gotta keep him if the price is right.
TB Sheets 12-31-2006, 12:12 AM Gomez seems to wake up at this time of the year. Remember last year, on December 29th he had the only two Devils goals against Pittsburgh, and then two days later on New Years Eve, he had a hat trick (and the only Devils goals again) in a loss to the Leafs.
