Is he playing? In the two games the U.S.A. has played so far I haven't spotted him on the ice once. It's weird because I see Kyle Lawson a lot and the canes seem to expect more out of McBain than Lawson. Is he injured or something?

I don`t understand how you can take up a roster spot with a player your not going to use. There had to be other choices of defensmen that they could have taken that would help this team out. Your short changing the team if you take a player that your not going to play!

Same with Canada with Kenndal Mcardle. I think he's played 2 or 3 shifts so far.
And Sasha Polulok didn't get 1 shift last year for the Candians as their seventh defenseman. Unfortunetely, it happens all the time.

mcbain hasnt played because he stunk, stunk-stunk, when played the other night...not saying he isnt a good defensement but was noticably bad against canada, when paired with lee who was worse at stinking, though he smelled bad too in the first...

These guys are called the 13th forward and 7th dman. Most coaches like to use a consistent group of 6 on the backend, and in the case of Canada, if Fransson is healthy, they'll put him with Russell and go with their 6 guys. For the forwards, you roll 4 lines, so it's hard to get that 13th guy in, even if he can play the PK or PP. Hard to be ready to do those situations if you are on the bench the whole game.

So he did play against Canada? I haven't seen him in either that game or the one against Germany. Too bad he's playing so poorly though. I thought he was normally paired with Erik Johnson in the ntdp.

I didn't notice if he got any shifts against Canada, so if he played and stunk, I missed it. That said, he was named the top defensmen for the U18 tourney that the US won this year so I would think he should get some shifts at this tourney. He can't be any worse than JJ. McBain is smart with the puck and is very smart defensively and usually doesn't take boneheaded penalties.
