Just got the latest issue of The Hockey News. There's an article titled "100 People of Power and Influence." Lou Lamoriello comes in at Number 9, and Marty Brodeur is Number 14. No other Devils players or personnel are mentioned. However, who's number 1? Bettman. Bleccchh.

the Marty at 14 I can agree with, but I know for a fact every player, gm, coach all the way to icegirls(whether they think he tripped the system) thinks much higher of him, Im not saying number 1 but.....who is in front of him?

God The Hockey News is terrible. I just went to their site to see if they have the list there and what do I see? The top story is "Opinion: Excitement Level Is on the Decline" What do I see next to this headline? A picture of Brodeur playing the puck.

Earlier this season The Devils scored 18 goals over seven games and only lost one of them. In that franchise’s proud tradition, nobody scores and nobody comes, and not just because fans living north of the Meadowlands – who will be unwilling to drive the extra 20 minutes next season to the new arena in Newark – have already bailed.

Wow I hate The Hockey News even more than before. THN is closing in on Bush and Osama Bin Laden on my most hated list :D

Gary Bettman would have to be number one. Like him or not, he is the Commissioner of the NHL. Ted Saskin, NHLPA President and Deputy NHL Commisioner are likely second and third.

Marty Brodeur is likely 14th because he is on the Competitioin Commity, not because he is well liked or one of the greates goaltenders in the history of the sport.

Here is a link to the last year's list (http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?referrerid=32342&t=206094) posted by Devils fan Stevedude530 on the main NHL board of HFBoards.

Well, if your hometown team (THN is based in Toronto, for those who don't know) hadn't won a cup since 1940 and was consistently the most profitable in the NHL despite its relentless mediocrity, you'd be pretty sore about some team with lousy attendance in NJ winning 3 cups in 8 years, too.:madfire:

S---ks for them, eh?!;)
