Starting Goalies

Anaheim

Phoenix
#32 Mikael Tellqvist -- 3-3-1, 3.20 GAA, .883 SV%
http://www.nhlpa.com/Player_pics/7481.jpg

Why Hate the Coyotes?

- If the Ducks take them any lightly, the Coyotes can capitalize and defeat them.

- Mikael Tellqvist does a lot better than Curtis Joseph nowadays; it seems that Tellqvist is the better goalie to come from the Toronto Maple Leafs. (Too bad there was no picture of Tellqvist wearing a Coyotes jersey.)

- The Ducks play against two brothers in two days. Zbynek Michalek plays for the Coyotes, while his younger brother Milan plays for the San Jose Sharks.

Things to Look Out For

- A fight between George Parros and Josh Gratton could very well happen. The two of them have great goon potential.

- Beware of Owen Nolan when shorthanded. He scored a slick shorthanded goal against the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday.

- The two captains look a bit alike. Does anyone else think that Shane Doan and Scott Niedermayer look alike?

Interesting Facts

- Though he did it while playing with the Winnipeg Jets, Teemu Selanne is credited with the Phoenix Coyotes' rookie scoring record.

- Both of these teams have renamed their arenas this season. The Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim became the Honda Center and the Glendale Arena became the Jobing.com Arena.

- Today is actually Zbynek Michalek's 24th birthday.

It should be a great one!

Enjoy the game!

:handclap:
Go Ducks Go!

Merry Christmas, everybody!!!! With Love from Hockeyprincess

I wonder if Phoenix is going to boo Chris Pronger too? It seems to be the fad around NHL cities these days.

Also the game tonight is on KDOC.

I think Chris Pronger checked Wayne Gretzky 10 years ago, so I think that's reason enough to boo him these days.

I've slightly bad feeligs about this match, 'cause Phoenix ain't so bad team as standings show. They has played quite well at home, but sucked on the road games... Ducks had won Coyotes already three times at this season, what means Phoenix should be very hungry.

Anyway, hope that Parros & Laraque will :fight:

Some more numbers:

I imagine it's getting tough to "get serious" for the Coyotes. The last time Anaheim got zero points from a Phoenix game was October 12, 2003.

The Ducks started this season with points in 16 straight games, but they also now have points in 16 straight games against the Coyotes (13-0-3 in the last 16).

Since the lockout, it is 10-0-1, with Selanne chipping in 9 goals and 13 assists.

Bryzgalov, should he ever recover, is perfect in his career against the 'Yotes: 6-0-0, 1.67 GAA, .932 sv%.

Anyway, hope that Parros & Laraque will :fight:

I think Thornton wants another shot at Laraque as well.

He said the coaches told him not to fight Laraque the last time these teams played and then he got sent back to Portland the next day. He said next time he is not listening to the coaches.

Parros/Thornton vs Laraque/Gratton

should be fun! O'Brien and Moen might find someone to fight as well.

I wonder which Ducks' player will get finally get a hattie this game! As much as we know that the Ducks could overlook this team, the youngings might see the opportunity to pad their stats and won't give a letdown of an effort.

I am interested to see how Huskins does tonight....does he play alongside Pronger or does OBrien step in there? I think OB will play 16+ tonight...I doubt he will fight because of the loss of ODonnell.

Interesting note I heard on the radio on my way back from shopping:

The Michalek brothers, Zbynek and Milan, prefer to have their last names pronounced differently. what a stupid guide...really stupid..

2good examples examples:
Zdeno Chara (zuh-DAY-no CHARR-uh) :biglaugh: - it's zdeno as you see(not zuhdayno) and uh at the end of Char :biglaugh: there should be a - Chara (ch-read like CH in christmas not as cheaf for example)

Budaj (BOO-digh) - same as zdeno read it like you see it

I think that like our game against the Flyers, we became over confident. We have what, 4 regulation losses in how many games? 60 points by Christmas. We're going to lose every once in a while. It's sad but it's going to happen. It would be nice if it was against teams like Carolina and Edmonton because of their record but by giving 2 points to Phx we aren't helping them get to the playoffs instead of us.

Loss tonight or no, we're still first place in the league.

No one is taking anything away from the Ducks great record and season, that's for sure. It is nice to see the coyotes come out and play a solid game against all odds and take it from the best team in the NHl. I wish they could play like that every night but that seems to be asking for the moon. Question, are the Ducks keeping Giggy past this season, has he been given an extension? If he is a free agent this off-season, I would love to see the yotes sign him! The coyotes will have some money to play with as alot of their one year stop gap players will become free gents. Ricci,Nolan,Roenick,Perrualt ,Cujo and will free some money up. One of Nagy,Doan will also be dealt at the deadline and this will also help money wise. My guess is Nagy will be gone.

Why would you go to Ducks board and say this as well as say Ducks got punked when they have 60 points and we have 1/3 of their points? Ducks will surely make the playoffs; will we? On behalf of Yotes fans, I apologize for these ignorant comments. We Yotes fans have much respect for the Ducks. We also have a lot of pride in our team. I cannot subscribe to these comments.
