Ticket prices in Newark

So here's my big idea with the ticket prices for next year...Since Prudential is going to be paying $5 mil or more a year for the naming rights heres what they should do: Directly put that money into lowering the ticket prices. Some simple math.....

$5,000,000 / 41 home games = $121,951.22

$121,951.22 / 17500 seats = 6.97 per seat.

If they plan on having the same pricing with the $90, $70, $52, $35 and $20 seats they could use that money to lower the lower level seating prices since they are so damn expensive!
So here's my proposal.....
$90 seats be lowered to $65
$70 seats be lowered to $60
and the rest of the seats remain the same prices...In my opinion that would be more affordable to bring a family to a game. And the 5 mill will easily be made up in concessions....A fan base of our size can no longer afford to have the highest ticket prices in the leauge

i definitely agree with you that ticket prices need to be lowered, but i think that there should be a change in prices through all the levels of seats and not just the lower tier.

Just so you know......

At the Newark arena...the most expensive seats will be in the 135 dollar range. The actual prices of tickets will not decrease..there will be more options for the frugal fan..There will be 10 dollar seats...but sorry to disappoint..overall prices for a new arena will definitely not go down.

According to Forbes.com, the Devils operating income for the 2005-06 season was -$6.7 million. That is negative $6.7 million.

Here is a link to the Forbes rankings (http://www.forbes.com/lists/2006/31/biz_06nhl_NHL-Team-Valuations_Rank.html). The Devils are ranked 18th in NHL according to team value, $148 million.

Ticket prices will not decrease. In fact, it'll be well over $100 to sit behind the glass at center ice. But they'll have more price options(unlike the CAA which has $90 in the last row of the lower bowl), cheaper upper deck seating and perhaps some student discounts.

as part of a corporate team, we met with vanderbeek to discuss a luxury box and get a tour...he did relay that while their will be great discounts for students and 10 dollar seats...the orporate seats (blueline to blueline, first 15 rows) will be significantly ore expensive than the 90 they are now..One cool thing is the tables that will be on the concourse..4 seats and your own table (just above the lower tier) for 200 bucks total.

I'll be fine with ticket prices if the arena sells out every night.

The lower bowl should always be full...

If not, then they better be cheap.

The lower bowl seats will never be cheap. The Devils are going to try to build up a corporate season ticket base. I'm sure that was a big reason behind the move to Newark which is home to several large corporations and also a number of mega law firms.

As long as the lower bowl is full... ill be happy.

But I hope ticket prices will be affordable... unlike MSG's.
