Papineau or Minard???

Do you think an injection of new blood, such as Justin Papineau or Chris Minard being called up to play on our fourth line, could provide more of a spark than adding Cam Janssen to the lineup? Or should we call up Cam and Justin or Minard?

How about this?:

Elias--Gomez--Gionta
Parise--Zajac/Dowd--Langenbrunner
Pandolfo--Madden--Dowd/Zajac
Brylin--Papineau or Minard--Janssen or Rupp (Janssen goes up, Rupp goes down? Rupp is on a two-way contract, I believe.)

Rafalski--White
Martin--Hale
Lukowich--Oduya
Just tweaking the defense a little.

Rupp-Dowd-Rassmussen have been playing pretty well in my opinion... I don't think we should tinker with them..... just let them develop more chemistry together and I think we will have the type of 4th line that can (maybe) make playoff memories.

With the way Papineau has been playing, he should be given a couple games up here on the 4th line. I think Minard is not going to come up this year but Paps is a realistic alternative. Give Paps a shot to crack the fourth line. what do we have to lose? I am sure Papineau can do a better job than Rassmussen and chip in a lot more goals.

Some of the responses in this thread and threads like this go a long, long ways towards preventing new Devils fans from ever joining, signing in and posting here. Its a shame things have reached a point to where civility, respect, and courtesy often take the backseat in favor of something far less substantial. How many respected posters that used to frequent this forum on a daily or nightly basis have totally removed this site from their bookmarks due to things like this?

God calm down, it was a joke. If you are indeed referring to my post.

I don't think Rassmussen is the guy I'd exclude in favor of Papineau...if it were Dowd we were talking, I'd be for it. Papineau and Dowd are about the same size and I'd say Papineau has alot more skill.

Rasmussen, Dowd, and Rupp are such a great line that even to suggest inserting a Papineau or Minard must be insanity. How can one improve on such a great line? Maybe they should be considered our number one line, eh?

I am sick of posting on this site. I am sick of rooting for the Devils, too. I am sick of my freakin' life.

It is time this "Niedermayer" starts rooting for Anaheim.

Adios and farewell!!!!! :madfire: :madfire: :madfire:

Dowd is part of our 2nd pk line. he is a very smart player, and gives the 4th line a chance to score. did you guys see the mcycle the puck the other night vs. atlanta?
I wonder if Zajac is really up to the task on the 2nd line?

I think Zajac has hit the wall a bit as he's never played in a season this long and is still getting used to it. I wouldn't mind seeing Paps on the second line or even dowd on the second line and paps on the 4th line just to let Travis recharge a bit.

Been watching the lowell devils all season and Paps deserves the call-up. Minard is very interesting though as the puck seems to follow him on the ice (like most great players) However, I think he may be a bit slow to compete at the NHL level right now..Paps is dominating at this level & deserves the call.

Okay, I am the first to confirm that Neids27 is the king of the "way out there" proposals -- trading six or seven players at a time, including folks from Lowell that wouldn't clear re-entry waivers, whatever... Mostly consisting of swapping our crap for other teams elite prospects. And he takes his rightful share of grief for such proclivities, but keeps coming back for more (which you gotta respect, however one would "respect" that...)

BUT, in all fairness, I think it is hardly out of line to suggest that Papineau, who is averaging more than a point per game and by all accounts is lighting it up in Lowell OR Minard, who I believe is #3 (or somewhere in the top 5) in scoring for the entire AHL could contribute to our 4th line... A line that has potted what -- 3 goals? And without Janssen, has intimidated whom, exactly?

Yes, they are cycling better and are slightly less defensively irresponsible (thanks mostly to Dowd, I believe, on that count) and are therefore "playing better than ever" -- but to suggest this is the "crash line" re-incarnate, ready for playoff dominance is a stretch of epic proportions.

Rupp will disappear soon enough and Rass has already (as he's gotten alligator arms all of the sudden now that Cammy isn't in the line-up). Aside from Dowd's fine efforts on the PK, these guys are playing scrub minutes and doing not a whole lot with them, even if those scrub minutes are creeping up slowly (which is also a result of Cam being out of the line-up, since he cannot play more than 5-6 minutes without looking retarded...)

I'd be more than fine with either of those two guys getting their cup of coffee on one or both of Dowd's wings on that 4th line. It is a GOOD SUGGESTION from Neids27, one not worthy of the recent gang tackling he has received on this board. (Ease up, fellas...)

I have a hard time respecting someone who thinks Grant Marshall has trade value.

I'll stop though.

Thank god, then maybe you'll create threads that'll trade George Parros for Sidney Crosby.

thank god, an actually sane post that makes sense. this is exactly what i am thinking. the 4th line contributes little to nothing to this team. some people are way too content with them throwing acouple checks and pathetically cycling the puck. enough with Rupp already just because he actually looks like he is trying now does not mean he belongs. anything that could possibly make this team better should be tried, what can it hurt? are striving to be a middle of the pack team? or a top team in the east? if you like the first choice than i suppose we should leave things exactly as they are. for the record i dont really think papineau is the answer to anything but hey its worth a shot.

Papineau goes to the 3rd line, not the 4th. The 4th line is like the 3rd lines of yesteryear. The 3rd lines now must contribute on the goal sheet.
