What kind of crap is this:

Right wing Jamie Langenbrunner, skating back to help out on defense, had the stick chopped out of his hands in front of the net by Jim Slater and the slash was not called.

"He said if he would have known they were going to score, he would have called it," the Devils' right winger said.

I saw that this morning in the Star-Ledger :madfire:

"He said if he would have known they were going to score, he would have called it," the Devils' right winger said. "He didn't want to give them a two-man advantage. That was the explanation given to me"

That is complete ********. I have no problem with the refs not seeing a penalty (well, not no problem, but they're human too), but to see a penalty and decide not to call it? They don't have that prerogative - if it's a penalty, you call it.

I am by no means blaming the loss on the refs - good teams find a way to win, and if you're handing out shorthanded chances like candy on Halloween you probably don't deserve to win. But that is ridiculous.
