McDonald attracts a lot of attention with scoring (Written by Eric Stephens).
Anonymity once existed like a comfortable blanket for Ducks center Andy McDonald.
There once was a time when all that was asked of McDonald was to skate hard, skate fast and chip in a goal here and there.
Those days are long gone. When a player surpasses his previous best points total by 55, teams take notice.
"When you get [85] points in a season in which you have success and you've elevated yourself to be the top offensive center, you'll draw more attention for sure," Coach said Randy Carlye. "It's a tribute to the player who's been able to have success in that role."

I guarantee a win!
Pwnasaurus 12-20-2006, 08:00 AM I'm not sure about last year but Modano has been a Ducks killer for years. Doesn't he have like the most goals scored vs Anaheim in team history or something?
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-20-2006, 08:01 AM Is Modano healthy yet? Mr Ed is always good for a point or two against us.

Didn't he get married or engaged recently? Maybe the bad luck will carry over onto the ice tonight.
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-20-2006, 08:08 AM Maybe it was to shore up his finances. I heard he has trouble feeding his dog.

Nope, both have had losing GDTs.
Also no Modano for this one, he's not with the team on this trip.
Jerky Leclerc 12-20-2006, 11:45 AM Jason Arnott was the Ducks killer last year. I distinctly hate him and Cheechoo.

hockeyprincess 12-20-2006, 12:04 PM Game 37... wow! I can't believe that the season has been going by so quickly!!!
Hey...
I have a trivia question for you guys!
Mike Modano was drafted first overall in 1988...
Teemu Selanne was drafted tenth overall that same year...
Now you don't have to give the teams they were drafted by...
But can someone name the four players who currently play in the NHL that were drafted second, seventh, eighth and ninth overall in 1988?
I'll give you some hints...
The guy drafted second overall is still with the team that drafted him in 1988.
The guy drafted seventh overall played against the Ducks on their last road trip.
The guy drafted eighth overall is one of the biggest characters in hockey.
The guy drafted ninth overall has the French word for love in his name.
Good Luck!!!!

4. Brindamour
Oh you are so close...
I can see why you said Stumpel since the actual answer was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings.
But I will give you a consolation prize!!!
You win...
a pic of Jozef Stumpel from the Slovak Olympic team!!!

Now that Pepper has told us that Trevor Linden, Jeremy Roenick and Rod Brind'Amour are the correct answers to three of the four questions, does anyone know the player drafted seventh overall in 1988?
I will give another hint.
(And Pepper... you can still win the prize if you answer correctly.)
He has played for the Edmonton Oilers, Quebec Nordiques, Vancouver Canucks, Carolina Hurricanes and Calgary Flames... and he now plays for the Florida Panthers.

The Stars are coming off a 4-3 shootout victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday night at Staples Center. Dallas is 21-12-0 with 42 points and is currently third in the Pacific.
Phillipe Boucher (11-13-24) leads the Stars with 24 points. His 11 goals also lead the club. Dallas netminder Marty Turco is 16-9-0 with a 2.11 GAA and .920 SV%.

lux_interior 12-20-2006, 10:14 PM I like our chances with Modano and Lehtinen out.
Goal! Looks like Pronger.
Snap Wilson 12-20-2006, 10:14 PM Pronger scores, right after the power play. Plus-minus, baby!
Davey Duck 12-20-2006, 10:15 PM Turco doesn't even move an inch.
lux_interior 12-20-2006, 10:15 PM Turco didn't move at all on that shot. He never saw it till it bounced out of the net.
Snap Wilson 12-20-2006, 10:21 PM Jeez, that was a demolition.
lux_interior 12-20-2006, 10:21 PM Thornton with the definition of "cleaning his clock" on Barnaby.
Barnaby still wearing Pierre Turgeon's gay #77.
Snap Wilson 12-20-2006, 10:22 PM Pretty funny, for those who aren't watching the Dallas feed, the announcers are going on about how Barnaby and Thornton were teammates on Chicago, and Barnaby has nothing but glowing things to say about Shawn, all while we're watching Thornton pound him repeatedly in the head.
Davey Duck 12-20-2006, 10:23 PM I'd love if Thornton had a Barnaby-like career. I think he could possibly have that type of career from what we've seen.

Snap Wilson 12-20-2006, 10:25 PM I'd love if Thornton had a Barnaby-like career. I think he could possibly have that type of career from what we've seen.
If he plays half as long, he'll exceed most projections for him, I'm sure. The league seems to be full of guys who were on the fringe, suddenly finding solid roster spots in the capped NHL.
Snap Wilson 12-20-2006, 10:31 PM Why the hell was the d-man diving on that shot?
Snap Wilson 12-20-2006, 10:32 PM Yay for Perry. Yay for points.
And an assist for Joey D. Always good.

Seeing-eyed shot. Pressure those d-men, guys!
Davey Duck 12-20-2006, 10:35 PM At the risk of jinxing us, Dallas just doesn't look like they give a ****.
Yup, jinxed. 2-1 now.

He just doesn't want the Lady Byng :D :
"I don't want Lady Byng," Selanne said after Monday night's game, smiling. Seriously?
"Burkie (General Manager Brian Burke) would probably trade me if I won Lady Byng," he said, laughing loudly.
I assumed Selanne was joking, too - until calling Burke and repeated my conversation with the Ducks star.
"Teemu's not very far from the truth," Burke said bluntly. He wasn't laughing.
Burke went on to say the Lady Byng is the only NHL postseason award he "won't give a bonus for" when negotiating incentive clauses in contracts.
"It's something I don't particularly want to see on my team," he said of the Lady Byng.
