I don't understand how a team can move the puck so well at even strength, but go on the PP and it's like trying to thread a needle with a steel beam.

Chico confirmed that is what happened, which explains why he was on his *** in front of the net. Doesn't excuse the fact that two Thrashers were in front of the net on a Devils PP.

well, he did face another 30+ shot night with 31. He's gotta be careful because after years of him being tough and durable, he is now starting to face 30+ shots almost every game now and he's well past the age of 30. Let's hope this current Devils team doesn't end up getting him hurt.

Maybe I'm being too tough on the rookie but I want to see Zajac hustle a little more. They talk about his size being one of his assets but I haven't see him use it to his advantage. He should learn a couple things from playing with his linemate Parise.

Anybody think that 2nd goal by Atlanta was legit after Langenbrunner's stick was supposedly chopped down? I didn't get a good look at it in the replay.

Zajac does use his size and he does hustle. He sort of has an effortless skating motion, so it looks like he's not really trying too hard. His size comes into play down low on the boards and his strength is shown when he is able to backcheck and strip players of pucks. He really isn't a physical presence, however, if that's what you mean.

And it was the first Atlanta goal. And yeah, Slater did slash the stick out of Langenbrunner's hands. The Devils had a case there.

Zajac's never been billed as a physical player, so I wouldn't expect a hardcore powerforward. His strengths lie along the boards and in the corners though.

Just got back from the game, my second loss in a week. Some thoughts on the game:

Marty with a rare problem with the five hole. I was sitting right behind him and that second shorty should have been a easy save. Not sure how it looked on T.V.

Best forwards, Lagenbrunner, Parise and another strong game by Brylin. The egg line played to cute with all their drop passes that all three kept skating by.

On defense Johhny O. is turning out to be one of our top d-men and I thought Rafalski scored late in the third on our last PP, excellent save by the Atlanta goaltender. The rest of the defense was average at best and Martin continues to struggle. Looks like he's lacking confidence, especially when carrying the puck.

Also thought Julien should have gone first in the shootout with the firepower Atlanta has. Atlanta also got away with several calls. That team can skate, but they hook and clutch like crazy and also play the 1-2-2.

Probably my last game at the CAA, unless the Devs make the playoffs and the Devils can't get out of there soon enough because the place is a tomb. Just pray that they draw better in Newark.

Not exactly a shocker, Devils will go to a shootout.

They have not had a game ended in OT yet this season.

message to julien:

4 on 4 is not a penalty kill.... if you somehow feel like winning a game in overtime, pandolfo and madden should not be out there EVERY OTHER SHIFT ... you have six skilled players on your top two scoring lines... rotate four lines with madden and pando being ONE OF THEM

gomez-gionta
elias-parise
zajac-langenbrunner
madden-pandolfo

jesus!!!!

it seems like you dont want to win

theres gotta be some desperation in OT vs atlanta... does any team in their right mind want to go into a shootout against kozlov, hossa, and kovalchuk? i think not!

I HATE BOBBY HOLIK AND I HATE LOSING TO ANY TEAM THAT BOBBY HOLIK IS ON!!!

I am concerned that Julien may not be the right coach for this team. I am also afraid that we do not have enough talent to win on a regular basis.

I hope Lou has something up his sleeve. One point is good but two points is better.

Ugh!!!!!!!!!! :madfire:

Be calm. Aside from our SHG issues... this team is fine. Our PP did produce tonight, and we got some good goals.

Read my reply in the SHG thread to see the possible problems and solutions.

You should wait until you make the playoffs before you start becoming arrogant. Call me again when the Thrashers win a Cup...three times.

After watching that game last night, it only proves what a liability Martin has become to the Devils this season.

If they decide to keep him, I would send his butt to Lowell till the playoffs & have him learn the fundamentals again. He looks very subpar out there & was the reason for the 2nd SHG.

The second coming of Neids (they claimed) ... far from it!!!!

And yet, he led the team in icetime last night with almost 26 minutes (next highest was Oduya with 24:49). Go figure. :shakehead

Ignore hydropossum. He's probably been dipping into the antifreeze.

As a Thrasher fan, I can tell you most of us sit on pins and needles every game wondering where and when the defensive lapse is going to take place. Grateful for every win, but still cautious about this team until the playoffs are finally clinched.

Our team has more trouble with goalies that cover the bottom half of the net and seem not to have as much trouble with Brodeur comparitively.

Yeah, its called the coach (and unfortunately...he's not really a good one) trying to build up his confidence in letting play more time with the hopes...the hopes he changes it around.
