Who is the mystery player Dave McNab spoke of?

On the pregame show they were talking about undrafted college players and he singled one guy out as fantastic but did not elaborate on who, any guesses?

Well, I'm thinking it's sort of a lesser known/unknown guy that he thought was so good. If he was talking about the concensus best undrafted college player, there really wouldn't be much of a secret as every other team would already know. I'm thinking if you know a guy's name, you probably got the wrong guy. I think McNab found himself a player that he's sees greatness from that not many other teams have noticed yet.

I think Lasch would still be eligible for the 07 Entry Draft.

he is, but at 20 (at draft day) hes been passed over twice. he is a FA. whew, 68g 78a in 56gp at Pembroke, and 9g 10a in 16gp at SCSU, the dude is smallish but strong and skilled. i would be all over this if i was mcnab, because the general consensus is he'll get drafted this year.

funny thing about that interview was when he said sometimes he has to be a bit sneaky and not let the team know hes there. im sure st cloud would get just a little weird about it.

Who ever it is, they'll be playing for us in about four years time and we'll be going yet another undrafted gem we've got our selves.

At the risk of going off topic, I have a question for you RK: Why do you have a "Vote Rory" icon? I was shocked to look up at the scoreboard last night during a time out and discover that Rory Fitzpatrick now sits second overall in All-Star votes amongst Western Conference D-men. At first, I just thought that I hadn't been checking out the players stats very well. I now realize that it's kind of a "goof", but it's a crime to see somebody like that two spots ahead of Kris Pronger.

What started this whole "Vote Rory phenomenon anyway?

I may be mistaken but I think it actually started on these boards.

Thanks, Pwnasaurus. I guess the fans are free to do whatever they want, but I think it's pretty stupid. I wonder if a journeyman like him has an "incentive clause" that pays him additional money if he makes the All-Star team?

If he starts taking away Hall of Fame votes from Pronger and/or Niedermayer, then I'll really be upset.:banghead:

Pronger will go to the all star game anyways, most of these guys don't really care about it but I bet you Rory will never forget it.

How many players really want to play in the All-Star game? Many would rather spend the weekend off with their families IMO. The only people making a big stink about this is the so-called media. Personally, the fans are behind Fitzpatrick and if they want to see him in the game, they'll vote him in.

It's just the ASG and, as Rally said, Pronger, Nieds, Lidstrom will get in anyway.
And, yes, it was first proposed on SomethingAwful but it didn't take right away so Lecherous (the one who started it) proposed it here and it took off after the media got a hold of it. The Canucks even wore Vote for Rory t-shirts in one practice that Willie Mitchell made.

They've devoted ten threads to the Rory discussion on the main board. Can we keep all that BS there, and not start it here?

Good idea. Lets get this thread back to topic.
