-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A battle of the Pacific today between the top two point getters in the Pacific. Should be a good one! Sharks are looking for revenge after the Ducks flattened them last time 5-0. Will the Sharks take game II? We will find out TONIGHT!!! :) :yo:
NOTE: VBUX thread not created at this point.

Sorry for the shortened version, but school work takes priority. :teach:
Jerky Leclerc 12-16-2006, 03:21 PM Marco Sturm and Sasha Goc. I think there are some more.
hockeyprincess 12-16-2006, 03:39 PM I feel confident about this game. I know that it will be a good one. Go Ducks Go!

Where's the Mighty 12-16-2006, 04:25 PM Or a huge printer..?
Joe Canada 12-16-2006, 05:38 PM Or a huge printer..?
Well, technically "pavilion" is HP's line of computers... ;) (You're right though, it probably does look closer to a printer.)
Should be a good game tonight- a good measuring stick for both teams to see where they're at and what they need to work on improving.
bigwillie 12-16-2006, 05:45 PM Good luck tonight, guys. (Like you need it.)
I pray this one is a closer and a little more entertaining than last time's *** kicking.
BraveSirRobin 12-16-2006, 06:03 PM Marcel Goc, Marco Sturm, and Christian Ehrhoff?
Hopper15 12-16-2006, 06:26 PM Payback tonight, the Sharks will take this game.

Hockey Duckie 12-16-2006, 10:13 PM This should be a really good game because the Sharks had just lost to the Kings on Thursday and that should really wake a team up! Unless the Sharks were just looking forward to playing the DUcks on Sat and took the Kings for granted.
Also... this will be the first time I try to record this game on a DVD recorder instead of a VCR (what's that?) since I have a x-mas thingie to do tonight. Go Ducks, Go!
lux_interior 12-16-2006, 11:32 PM That's a weird sound on the announcers in the pregame show. Hopefully they fix that. They being KDOC.
lux_interior 12-16-2006, 11:39 PM Still sounds and looks like it's being broadcast from inside a cavernous trash can.
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-16-2006, 11:40 PM New low for KDOC. This is embarassing.
Static 12-16-2006, 11:41 PM Is there an echo in here?
lux_interior 12-16-2006, 11:42 PM Pahlsson draws a early power play.
Static 12-16-2006, 11:42 PM PP time...lets see what we have tonight..
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-16-2006, 11:42 PM Sounds like they're calling the game on walkie-talkies.
Static 12-16-2006, 11:43 PM Selanne should have receieved that pass.
lux_interior 12-16-2006, 11:43 PM Is there an echo in here?
Is there an echo in here?
Static 12-16-2006, 11:44 PM And he should have shot there...though there was no traffic.
lux_interior 12-16-2006, 11:44 PM New low for KDOC. This is embarassing.
I didn't think it was possible, but somehow they've pulled it off.
Static 12-16-2006, 11:46 PM yay, they remember how to broadcast at least medicorely. If that is a word.
lux_interior 12-16-2006, 11:46 PM They fixed the audio. It's kind of the relief you feel when you stop pounding yourself over the head with a hammer.
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-16-2006, 11:47 PM yay, they remember how to broadcast at least medicorely. If that is a word.
That'll start a riviarly.
lux_interior 12-16-2006, 11:48 PM Nice little backhand there by Kunitz. He got a lot on that.
Static 12-16-2006, 11:49 PM That'll start a riviarly.
That or Hayward reminding everyone how badly the Ducks beat the Sharks the last time they played. I like how he snuck in those comments into his err, commentary.
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-16-2006, 11:49 PM You know, that family never really answered the troll's three questions.
lux_interior 12-16-2006, 11:51 PM Nice hustle there by Kunitz to get possession of the puck.
lux_interior 12-16-2006, 11:52 PM How did that stay out of the net?
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-16-2006, 11:52 PM This game is surprisingly wide open.
lux_interior 12-16-2006, 11:53 PM Hopefully it stays that way.
Snap Wilson 12-16-2006, 11:54 PM Sharks making us feel at home with equally crappy ice. Thanks, guys!
Static 12-16-2006, 11:57 PM eh, poor penalty by Moen.
Static 12-17-2006, 12:02 AM nice stick.
Static 12-17-2006, 12:03 AM Getzlaf???
lux_interior 12-17-2006, 12:03 AM Damn Ryan. Wide open net. Oh well.
Static 12-17-2006, 12:03 AM Good battle by Penner.
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 12:04 AM Wow, wide open game. Must be a nice change of pace for our boys.
Static 12-17-2006, 12:07 AM Maybe if Hannan didnt put his face a foot off the ice he wouldnt get hit with a stick. 4-3 now...they should score.
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 12:07 AM 4-on-3 hockey, baby. Gotta love it!
Joe Canada 12-17-2006, 12:08 AM Holy lots of penalties Batman.
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 12:09 AM Nice save by Nabokov, Jesus. This is looking like one of those games....
Static 12-17-2006, 12:09 AM What a shot.
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 12:09 AM Oh, never mind. Getz! WHOO!
Joe Canada 12-17-2006, 12:10 AM This game sounds good... wish TVU was still up. :(
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 12:14 AM Great pressure by San Jose. I'm still having Vietnam-style flashbacks when I hear the name "Cheechoo."
Static 12-17-2006, 12:14 AM This game sounds good... wish TVU was still up. :(
CI foo!
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 12:14 AM Yikes. Good period, I guess.
Ducksforcup 12-17-2006, 12:16 AM Great pressure by San Jose. I'm still having Vietnam-style flashbacks when I hear the name "Cheechoo."
Seriously, it scares me so dang much.
10 goals and 3 assists in 6 games against the Ducks... :help::help::help:
Pretty even period. Sharks had more chances though. :dunno:
Static 12-17-2006, 12:19 AM Carmelo Anthony is such a *****. I cant believe he slapped and ran. Get his tatoos removed ASAP, he doesnt deserve them.
McDonald19 12-17-2006, 12:29 AM would be nice if the refs didn't call every little hook they see.
Static 12-17-2006, 12:36 AM haha, Perry always scores those kind of goals.
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 12:37 AM Perry with a seeing-eyed shot. 2-0 Ducks. Keep up the pressure, boys.
Static 12-17-2006, 12:38 AM Fight!
McDonald19 12-17-2006, 12:39 AM O'Brien slipped at the end of his fight vs Bell.
draw
Static 12-17-2006, 12:40 AM Nieds is so good at outlet passes...he made that rush all by himself.
Edit: How is that icing??
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 12:41 AM Throwing the body around. Love it.
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 12:41 AM Edit: How is that icing??
I was thinking the same thing. They passed it back, not us.
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 12:43 AM We need to lobby the NHL to allow a team to play 21 guys if one of them has a mullet, porn 'stache and Ivy League degree.
Static 12-17-2006, 12:43 AM Bah, I missed it.
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 12:43 AM Yikes, just a nice play for the Shark.
Static 12-17-2006, 12:45 AM I like Thornton a million times better than Parros. He does the enforcing and plays hockey at the same time.
Static 12-17-2006, 12:46 AM easy call on Mac..
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 12:48 AM Ugh, that was terrible.
Static 12-17-2006, 12:49 AM That should have been cleared. Come on penalty kill.
Game ON though, Im excited.
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 12:50 AM Jiggy lost his balance on that one. It looked like he was trying to tackle Thornton, but he just fell forward.
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 12:51 AM Jesus, enough! Keep your sticks off the other players, guys.
Static 12-17-2006, 12:51 AM Bad play by Shannon, he turned that over. His ice time just decreased by 5 minutes.
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-17-2006, 12:52 AM Jeez. Have Lupul and Sykora returned? No more hooking!
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 12:52 AM Mark Bell practically has a tattoo on his forehead that says, "I'm a tool."
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 12:57 AM I usually defend Shannon, but he's having a terrible game. He shouldn't play against this team.
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 12:59 AM Wow, Teemu draws a really dubious one there. Let's not waste it.
McDonald19 12-17-2006, 01:00 AM powerplay chance for the Ducks now...
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 01:00 AM I take it back. Clear trip on Vlasic.
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-17-2006, 01:02 AM Pronger singlehandedly killed that penalty.
McDonald19 12-17-2006, 01:02 AM I usually defend Shannon, but he's having a terrible game. He shouldn't play against this team.
I think Carlyle saw who the Sharks were scratching (Parker, Clowe and Davison) and decided Parros was not needed if the Sharks were going to dress such a soft lineup.
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 01:02 AM We have Pronger and Niedermayer back at the points, right? Chris Pronger and Scott Niedermayer? Right? Just checking.
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-17-2006, 01:04 AM Why can't any of these guys keep their feet?
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 01:06 AM I think Carlyle saw who the Sharks were scratching (Parker, Clowe and Davison) and decided Parros was not needed if the Sharks were going to dress such a soft lineup.
Yeah, I'm not saying Parros would do any better, but with San Jose's general combination of size and speed, Shannon doesn't provide much of an advantage.
Now Thornton and Teemu go off for scrapping. Too funny.
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 01:07 AM Oy, ****ing vey. Let's just get to the third without any more damage, alright?
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 01:09 AM Jiggy just barely getting that foot out. Yikes.
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 01:10 AM Nice backchecking. Whew.
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-17-2006, 01:11 AM This is a great game.
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 01:11 AM And by the way, any Sharks fan that complains about our announcers should hang their head in shame. The play-by-play guy is the worst I've heard, and McSorley has taken up the idiot mantle from Drew Remenda.
Static 12-17-2006, 01:12 AM Do I Smell Coooookiieess???

DucksWon'07 12-17-2006, 01:20 AM I haven't seen a game on KDOC in a while, that I remember, but the picture looks much better than it did earlier in the year.:handclap:
azsharkfan 12-17-2006, 01:23 AM And by the way, any Sharks fan that complains about our announcers should hang their head in shame. The play-by-play guy is the worst I've heard, and McSorley has taken up the idiot mantle from Drew Remenda.
Randy Hahn is great. Objective most of the time.
McSorley is flat out bad.
Host, John Shrader, a san jose sports broadcaster forever, is in his first year of hockey t.v. and it will be his last.
Great game between two great teams.
Static 12-17-2006, 01:27 AM Anaheim's best period coming up...
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 01:28 AM With all the attention they're giving Mark Bell for that fight, you'd think he'd have beaten Muhammad Ali.
Static 12-17-2006, 01:30 AM UHHHH OB? You there?
Static 12-17-2006, 01:31 AM Good battle by Shannon.
Static 12-17-2006, 01:32 AM How was that not a hook?
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 01:33 AM Oh geez, McSorley, shut the hell up. As much as he whines, it's amazing that he used to be a tough guy in this league.
I wonder what percentage of the Sharks shots have actually hit the net? Otherwise, they're owning us right now.
DucksWon'07 12-17-2006, 01:34 AM I can feel it, Teemu's hungry!!!
Static 12-17-2006, 01:34 AM I hate the linesman stepping in there. The ref is inches away, he knows whats going on.
Edit: I may have it backwards.
Static 12-17-2006, 01:36 AM great nuetral play by SJ.
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 01:36 AM UHHHH OB? You there?
He got knocked out by Cassius Bell. We're lucky he's still breathing!
Static 12-17-2006, 01:37 AM How was that not a hold? Interference?
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 01:37 AM Great shift by the Pahlsson line. Great shift!

DucksWon'07 12-17-2006, 01:41 AM questionable offsides call.
Davey Duck 12-17-2006, 01:43 AM PP coming up. This is huge. Fantastic game so far. At least 6 more of these games to go. Whew! I'm already worn out.
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 01:43 AM Great strategy by San Jose. Pressure pressure pressure. If a team is fast enough, that's our Achilles heel. Marleau has been all over Niedermayer tonight, rather than the other way around.
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 01:44 AM PP coming up. This is huge.
Everyone's skates sharpened? Chris? Lookin' at you, buddy.
DucksWon'07 12-17-2006, 01:44 AM Wow how hard working is robby nieds. As some one who didn't want him to wear the A on his sweater, I really must give him all the props in the world.
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 01:46 AM Wow, great puck movement from our boys. Perry to Penner! GOAL!
Static 12-17-2006, 01:47 AM excellent powerplay.
DucksWon'07 12-17-2006, 01:47 AM unbelievable BEUCH!!!
Davey Duck 12-17-2006, 01:47 AM PPG winning us this game single (triple?) handedly!
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-17-2006, 01:48 AM PP coming up. This is huge.
Nobody likes a braggart.
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 01:48 AM And San Jose gets it right back. Vietnam, baby. Shee-it.
DucksWon'07 12-17-2006, 01:48 AM that's a fine slap in the face.
oh no the DUCK killer himself.
Static 12-17-2006, 01:48 AM God that is lucky, from the god of lucky himself.
Davey Duck 12-17-2006, 01:48 AM Also, awesome, awesome effort by Beauchemin to save that one.
EDIT: Crap, was a few seconds behind on my DVR. Damn. Damn. Damn.
Static 12-17-2006, 01:48 AM Cheechoo is such a tool.
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 01:48 AM I hate that guy.
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 01:50 AM Well, geez, no denying, this has been a good one. This is a reason why I'm one of the three people who love the eight games against division opponents. We get six more of these.
Static 12-17-2006, 01:51 AM Mac got scared and shot it all the way down. Take the hit and make a play.
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 01:51 AM Regardless of the final score, have to give the Sharks the moral victory in this one. So far, they've outplayed us by a significant margin.
Spankatola Jamnuts 12-17-2006, 01:52 AM Regardless of the final score, have to give the Sharks the moral victory in this one. So far, they've outplayed us by a significant margin.
It's been a pretty weak road trip for our supposedly great forecheck.

Ok, but what's wrong w/ playing every one once and still playin 7 division games. Then we have a clear better team in the regular season. No 4-4 split crapola
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 01:53 AM C'mon, boys, gut check time.
DucksWon'07 12-17-2006, 01:53 AM Regardless of the final score, have to give the Sharks the moral victory in this one. So far, they've outplayed us by a significant margin.
let's not forget they're playing a back to back to.
DucksWon'07 12-17-2006, 01:54 AM Bye Hannan, maybe their best pk man:clap:
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 01:54 AM We get another power play. Marty's whining about the call again. Yeah, it was dubious, but still. Shut up, Marty.
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 01:55 AM let's not forget they're playing a back to back to.
They played two nights ago, not last night.
Static 12-17-2006, 01:56 AM Wow, we have been giving the puck up so easily. We deserve to lose this game.
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 01:56 AM ****ing terrible. Either our power play looks great or we're giving up shorthanded breakaways. What the hell?
DucksWon'07 12-17-2006, 01:56 AM They played two nights ago, not last night.

DucksWon'07 12-17-2006, 01:59 AM disgusting
Static 12-17-2006, 01:59 AM Hey, the God of Lucky strikes again! But they deserve that one.
Davey Duck 12-17-2006, 02:01 AM Wow, this great game and a goal off a skate may decide it.
HockeyFanatic416 12-17-2006, 02:02 AM Hectic last 15 seconds.. but damn.
Great game.
DucksWon'07 12-17-2006, 02:02 AM we didn't deserve it.:banghead:
Davey Duck 12-17-2006, 02:02 AM Even with the loss, that was a fun one.
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 02:03 AM Jesus, that sucked. It sucked. The score wasn't even that close.
Terrible.
Static 12-17-2006, 02:03 AM We deserved to lose. Just a bad game all around...Sharks got lucky but they deserved the break.
Cheechoo player of the game? Pavelsky was a much better player. Cheechoo was invisible other than his two fortunate goals.
There's a few words that come to mind to describe this game. *#*$, *!^&, *@%!, and *(#%$.
Even with the loss, that was a fun one.
It's never fun without "Yay for points."

Not an excuse, as far as I'm concerned. They were probably back home late Wednesday night, and didn't leave for San Jose until this morning. Fatigue wasn't even a factor.
The Ducks played mostly okay. There were lots of turnovers, but that was caused by San Jose's constant pressure. Carlyle needs to come up with a way to counter that.
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 02:14 AM Money I dont think this game will change the season...there are too many vets to let that happen.
I removed that comment. I'll just say that's the first game where we came to play and still got beat soundly. It's significant.
McDonald19 12-17-2006, 02:14 AM well if thats as tough as the competition gets in the west I'm not worried.
Ducks at the end of a road trip and it shows, not a good effort. Sharks had everything to gain by playing their best in front of their home crowd and still only win 4-3 off a lucky goal.
Jerky Leclerc 12-17-2006, 02:16 AM Pronger had his worst outing of the season. He had alot of problems with San Jose's speed. The Ducks committed alot of mistakes. They need to clear the puck out of the zone better. You have to give the Sharks credit. They played a pretty good game.
Static 12-17-2006, 02:18 AM I removed that comment. I'll just say that's the first game where we came to play and still got beat soundly. It's significant.
I dont think we brought our A game tonight...a lot of players had some bad nights.
Snap Wilson 12-17-2006, 02:22 AM I dont think we brought our A game tonight...a lot of players had some bad nights.
I think most of those "bad nights" were due to dealing with a level of pressure from the opposition that they hadn't dealt with this year. When our guys had time and room, we were fine. We didn't have much of either, though.
I would imagine the team will be more prepared for this next time. But right now, the Sharks have to be feeling really good about this one.

I agree that they played very well...there were a lot of mistakes trying to make quick decisions up the middle of the ice. I dont think we'll be seeing much of that for a few games. The Calgary game Monday should be a good test after this loss.

Yeah, good opportunity for a bounce-back game. We'll see how that goes. Still, I'll have Boxing Day marked on my calendar.
bayrider 12-17-2006, 02:34 AM a 5 game road trip in 10 days out east can take a toll on players. I think the Ducks could have done better, but played well regardless. That last goal was also a lucky bounce, but hey, ***** happens. It's part of the game.

No Doubt on all accounts. There's also no doubt these are the best two teams in the West and that it'll be a battle. Good games guys.
dmcccdmn 12-17-2006, 05:47 AM Good games guys. Your team plays so well even when they have an off night. I don't know about you guys but I'm glad we're in the same division. There's gonna be at least 6 more games like this to look forward to. Not to mention for years to come as both teams have young talents that just get better and better.
Randall Graves* 12-17-2006, 07:12 AM Not an excuse, as far as I'm concerned. They were probably back home late Wednesday night, and didn't leave for San Jose until this morning. Fatigue wasn't even a factor.
The Ducks played mostly okay. There were lots of turnovers, but that was caused by San Jose's constant pressure. Carlyle needs to come up with a way to counter that.
they went 4-1 on the trip, last game letdowns happen big deal i'll take the 8 points when the other team got a fortunate bounce at the end to win..
krudmonk 12-17-2006, 07:32 AM At the game tonight, I was not only reaffirmed that my favorite team is 'elite,' but I was very much convinced that the Ducks are at least on the same level. I look forward to future matchups and I love this budding rivalry.

The Ducks played hard. They just had problems with San Jose's speed and the defense made alot of mistakes. Its funny to say but I'm kinda depressed after this game. I'm so used to the team winning that every lost just feels horrible.

To feel better you could watch Ducks "highlights" from Hartsburg/Page era...That'll cheer you up!

If I were a Duck fan, I would be feeling pretty good. Good about the effort they brought last night. I have watched every Sharks game this year. This was the most instense game they've played all year. To bring that game last night, at home, and win only by a late goal? Heck, I would feel great about your team. At the end of a road trip to play like they did last night was amazing.
I stated on the Sharks board that I was very impressed with the Ducks forechecking. As the whole world knows, our D is young and they were a bit exposed last night when trying to get the puck out of their end.
The two key additions during the offseason for SJ stood out last night. Curtis Brown and Mike Grier. Brown drew a penalty short handed and missed a breakaway. Grier drew two penalties shorthanded and also missed on a breakaway.
Heck of a game last night.
Boxing day, we get to see this all over again! :yo:

that's not going out on a limb to say that. the ducks are the elite of the nhl right now. even with the win last night, we need to improve alot as the season rolls on to try and knock them out in the WCF.

Each goal might have come with an asterisk.
"I thought the Cheechoo goal was offside," Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said. "Thornton clearly had both feet over the blue line and the puck hadn't entered over the line. To me, that's offside. Sometimes you get calls that go for you, and sometimes they go against you."
Wow, I have to see this play again. I know the Ducks didn't really play that well, but dang, if it was indeed offside and the linesman had called it, Cheecho's goal could've been prevented and who knows, maybe the Ducks could've hold on for the win. Oh well, it was a tough break! 8 out of 10 points on this road trip is pretty good!

Totally agree! Thanks.
