DevilsFan38 12-16-2006, 09:46 AM Wow, you got this up early. Please tell me you were up late last night, and did not get up at like 5 am to post the GDT ;)
And the game is on yahoo (yay!) for all us poor souls who are forced to watch/listen via the internet.
Tomas Kopecky decided to break his collarbone in 4 different places, and will be out for 2-3 months. I don't know who will be in his spot.
NJ_Devil_Boy 12-16-2006, 10:04 AM 1 PM starts FTL.
devs44 12-16-2006, 11:54 AM I hope that Gionta gets his 100th goal today. I am going to the game!!
TOPGUN 12-16-2006, 12:14 PM Tomas Kopecky decided to break his collarbone in 4 different places, and will be out for 2-3 months. I don't know who will be in his spot.
Jiri Hudler
DevilsFan38 12-16-2006, 01:56 PM All right, it's almost game time. Go Devils! :devdance:
Devilsfanatic 12-16-2006, 02:01 PM LETS GO DEVILS! BOO THE RED WINGS! 95 all over again :D
NYRMatt 12-16-2006, 02:04 PM http://www.comcast.net/sports/nhl/hockeylive/
On Hockey Live today, good luck guys. But I hope you lose to Red Wings :p:
jkrdevil 12-16-2006, 02:08 PM http://www.comcast.net/sports/nhl/hockeylive/
On Hockey Live today, good luck guys. But I hope you lose to Red Wings :p:
Also on yahoo which tends to have a better pic.
DevilFisch 12-16-2006, 02:12 PM The Devils go on the PP early and do NOTHING with it. And just as it ends, Jim Dowd will sit for hooking a Red Wing right in front of the ref. So Detroit goes on the PP.
PP UPDATE: Detroit is a really, REALLY good team. Fortunately, Brodeur (and the Devils) is also really, REALLY good
Detroit leads in shots 6-0 5 minutes into the game.
DevilsFan38 12-16-2006, 02:14 PM Anyone else having problems getting yahoo to work? I try to open it up and I just get a white window that won't do anything.
Unthinkable 12-16-2006, 02:14 PM Brodeur with three good saves on this powerplay.
Unthinkable 12-16-2006, 02:15 PM Anyone else having problems getting yahoo to work? I try to open it up and I just get a white window that won't do anything.
I just tried it and saw the same thing you mentioned above. Not sure whats going on with their link. Actually try this... Right click and then select reload. Worked after I did that.
DevilFisch 12-16-2006, 02:17 PM ZAJAC BREAKAWAY! But Hasek stops him (also the first Devils shot on goal in this game).
NJ really needs to start putting rubber on Hasek. Detroit is already threatening for a goal.
DevilsFan38 12-16-2006, 02:17 PM I just tried it and saw the same thing you mentioned above. Not sure whats going on with their link. Actually try this... Right click and then select reload. Worked after I did that.
Yeah, I got it to work, I went into the score page and used a different link. Got it going just in time to see the Zajac breakaway.
Unthinkable 12-16-2006, 02:18 PM How did Datsyuk not score on that last play?
DevilFisch 12-16-2006, 02:18 PM What a diving save on Datsyuk!
Defense, help Marty out! 8 minutes in and Detroit already has 9 quality shots on net!
Devilsfanatic 12-16-2006, 02:18 PM Zajac sucks in real life, in NHL 07, he'd score on that break away every time.
TheDevilMadeMe 12-16-2006, 02:19 PM If Clemmy was in, this one would be 2-0 Detroit.
DevilsFan38 12-16-2006, 02:19 PM I haven't been watching for long, but it certainly looks like Detroit is carrying the play. Come on Devils, wake up!
TheDevilMadeMe 12-16-2006, 02:20 PM Zajac sucks in real life, in NHL 07, he'd score on that break away every time.
Yeah, that was a pretty pathetic breakaway by him.
devils1983 12-16-2006, 02:21 PM I haven't been watching for long, but it certainly looks like Detroit is carrying the play. Come on Devils, wake up!
The PP the Devils had was a complete joke....Marty is the only reason why this game isn't 9-0. Marty needs support infront of him.
DevilFisch 12-16-2006, 02:23 PM The crowd is loud, but the Devils take another penalty. Brylin hooks Zetterberg and Detroit goes on the PP again.
The Red Wings had FOUR shots on their first PP. I am worried. Someone, hug me.
jkrdevil 12-16-2006, 02:23 PM enough with the penalties.
DevilFisch 12-16-2006, 02:27 PM Penalty killed, the Devils just had TWO shots on Hasek in a row. Really! (Well, OK, Gomez' shot technically went wide but it was so close)
I know it's not much, but it's all the Devils have so far. WAKE UP! You won't get a second shot at Detroit this season, IIRC!
Unthinkable 12-16-2006, 02:27 PM Shots on net
NJ 3
Det 11
DevilsFan38 12-16-2006, 02:28 PM I miss the Devils old, rock-solid defense. Remember the days when they would only allow 12 shots on goal in a game?
devils1983 12-16-2006, 02:31 PM I miss the Devils old, rock-solid defense. Remember the days when they would only allow 12 shots on goal in a game?
I've come to accept that this Devils team is playoff bound...but nowhere near a cup contender.
DevilFisch 12-16-2006, 02:31 PM In NJ's defense uh...defense, they aren't playing Toronto. These are the Detroit Red Wings.
Lang will sit 2 minutes for a trip and the Devils will get a power play. Will they get more shots than Detroit on this man advantage? WHO KNOWS?!
UPDATE: Two opportunties beat Hasek and miss the net! Nutbunnies!
DevilsFan38 12-16-2006, 02:32 PM I've come to accept that this Devils team is playoff bound...but nowhere near a cup contender.
With Marty, the team is always a Cup contender. And getting Matvichuk back should also help. It just seems like lately they've been running around in their own zone too much.
Also, I am really liking our fourth line lately. Dowd adds a lot more hockey sense.
TheDevilMadeMe 12-16-2006, 02:35 PM Paul Martin is freaking terrible.
DevilsFan38 12-16-2006, 02:36 PM Hideous turnover by Martin. And I like Parise trying to hit him, but he only caught the leg.
DevilFisch 12-16-2006, 02:36 PM Martin's not having a good last 2 weeks.
Parise is sitting for tripping and Detroit goes on the PP as of...now.
ZAJAC! Why didn't you SHOOT?!
jkrdevil 12-16-2006, 02:37 PM GOmer can't hit the net today, niether can Zajac or the rest of the team.
dkball7 12-16-2006, 02:37 PM Hideous turnover by Martin. And I like Parise trying to hit him, but he only caught the leg.
Yeah that was a pretty dirty hit by Parise... not the kind of thing I like to see from anyone on the Devils.
Unthinkable 12-16-2006, 02:38 PM Too many hooking penalties early on. Devils need to pick up their skating legs.
Unthinkable 12-16-2006, 02:39 PM Pando with the spin-o-shoot-it-wida.
DevilFisch 12-16-2006, 02:40 PM Offensive chances by...JAY PANDOLFO! He was so close. Good thing for Detroit he didn't score because NJ usually wins when Jay Pandolfo scores.
NJ really needs to turn it up, they were solidly out-worked in this period. ESPECIALLY on offense. They did a bit better as the period went on; but every Devil should thank Martin Brodeur that the Red Wings haven't gone up by 1 to 4 goals.
dkball7 12-16-2006, 02:40 PM Doc's right, that was the best first period so far all year in terms of entertainment value. All that excitement without the little red light going on!!!
DevilsFan38 12-16-2006, 02:41 PM Yeah that was a pretty dirty hit by Parise... not the kind of thing I like to see from anyone on the Devils.
Yeah it was definitely not a good hit. He needs some hitting lessons from White.
The Devils play improved a little there towards the end, looks like they started to get their legs under them.
TheDevilMadeMe 12-16-2006, 02:42 PM I wish we had a dman with half the talent of Lidstrom.
devils1983 12-16-2006, 02:45 PM Doc's right, that was the best first period so far all year in terms of entertainment value. All that excitement without the little red light going on!!!
Ya, mainly because of Detroit's play. I wasn't impressed with the Devils play in that period. Marty was solid...he came up with huge saves to bail the team out.
dkball7 12-16-2006, 02:46 PM Ya, mainly because of Detroit's play. I wasn't impressed with the Devils play in that period. Marty was solid...he came up with huge saves to bail the team out.
I was. I thought we capitalized on the Red Wings' give aways pretty well as evidenced by Zajac's two chances and Pandolfo's one-timer, as well as the penalty Gomez drew on Lang.
Devilsfanatic 12-16-2006, 02:47 PM I wish we had a dman with half the talent of Lidstrom.
A lot of teams want that.
Stan Fischler is officially off his rocker
DevilsFan38 12-16-2006, 02:52 PM Stan Fischler is officially off his rocker
I don't listen to him anymore. Intermission is the time to go get food.
Heaton 12-16-2006, 02:52 PM Stan Fischler is officially off his rocker
What did he say?
TheDevilMadeMe 12-16-2006, 02:54 PM What did he say?
He said in a really serious tone that Tampa Bay's two goalies are quite often mistaken for swiss cheese. It was hysterical.
Unthinkable 12-16-2006, 02:56 PM What did he say?
He called the first period of action "fire-wagon hockey" by both teams. Said that Roenick's banner will be raised on the Staten Island Ferry!
DevilFisch 12-16-2006, 02:56 PM Stan Fischler is officially off his rocker
He said in a really serious tone that Tampa Bay's two goalies are quite often mistaken for swiss cheese. It was hysterical.
This isn't a sign of being off one's rocker, it's a sign someone has been paying attention to Tampa Bay.
Seriously, Denis and Holmqvist in net is no way to go through life and the playoffs, son.
Martin St. Louis Cardinals will get you sent to the old person's home, though.
Draper hits the post!
For those watching the game, nice to see they still have the line combos from Game 4 in 1995. Who knew we put Brylin as a 2nd line center then too?
DevilFisch 12-16-2006, 03:01 PM For those watching the game, nice to see they still have the line combos from Game 4 in 1995. Who knew we put Brylin as a 2nd line center then too?
???? Zajac is playing at center, with Brylin playing RW on the third line?
In any case, Detroit is still really friggin' good.
Unthinkable 12-16-2006, 03:02 PM So many missed opportunities. Madden has to score on that play.
DevilFisch 12-16-2006, 03:03 PM Dominik Hasek makes a great looking save on a Mike Rupp shot!
SHOT! REBOUND! MADDEN HITS THE POST ON THE OPEN NET!!!! Oooooooooooh!!! (Note: Doc said the shot hit Hasek's arm, not the post. OK.)
UPDATE: Detroit goes on the PP. Oh, boy.
Devilsfanatic 12-16-2006, 03:03 PM Vintage Domino........and damn it Madden!
How bout that 4th line that's been generating scoring chances these past few games.
borrachon 12-16-2006, 03:04 PM John "I need to score 20 goals this year" Madden :banghead:
???? Zajac is playing at center, with Brylin playing RW on the third line?
Just referencing last year, when Brylin was between Parise and Langenbrunner or... Kozlov? I forget.
4th line gets some great shots, and Hasek stones Madden point blank. Ramussen will sit for two, since you can't check a player in the middle of the ice when the puck is along the boards.
DevilFisch 12-16-2006, 03:06 PM Devils kill the penalty and that's good.
Devils start a four-on-two and that's good.
But the pass bounces off Elias' stick which ends the rush and that's not so good.
To be fair, NJ's looking better this period.
UPDATE: Johnny Oduya will sit for 2 for what I believe is hooking.
Unthinkable 12-16-2006, 03:08 PM Another Red Wings PP coming up.
Eh, I don't really care for that call. Oduya will sit for holding.
And just as quick, Holmstrom will sit for interfering with Marty
DevilsFan38 12-16-2006, 03:09 PM We need to stop taking penalties. Aside from that, the Devils look much better.
jkrdevil 12-16-2006, 03:10 PM Stop taking penalties!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
EDIT:Penalty Red Wings 4-on-4
Devilsfanatic 12-16-2006, 03:10 PM playing with fire, but saved by Mr best in front of the net.
DevilFisch 12-16-2006, 03:10 PM Tomas Holmstrom gets caught interfering with Brodeur. Can't touch Marty, asshat. So he'll sit 2 and we have a 4-on-4 for 1:48.
UH OH: Brian Rafalski takes a blow to the head and he's shaken up. I hope he's OK.
Unthinkable 12-16-2006, 03:11 PM Anyone else understand how a trade of Gomez for Datsyuk would help both teams out?
http://www.nypost.com/php/pfriendly/print.php?url=http://www.nypost.com/seven/12162006/sports/devils/center_swap_fits_for_devils_devils_mark_everson.ht m
borrachon 12-16-2006, 03:12 PM Both pretty chincy calls IMO.
jkrdevil 12-16-2006, 03:12 PM Rafalski hurt
Unthinkable 12-16-2006, 03:12 PM Madden and Rafalski both came out on the wrong end of two different hits.
TheDevilMadeMe 12-16-2006, 03:13 PM Madden's had a great game so far. Missed a wide open net and now injured Rafalski.
Devilsfanatic 12-16-2006, 03:13 PM Here comes the Janssen contingent crying that he needs to be around.
DevilsFan38 12-16-2006, 03:13 PM Rafalski's still on his knees out on the ice. Ouch.
Madden hits Sammulson, who riccochets into Rafalski. Might've hurt his neck? He seems woozy. Madden also got popped by Kronwall, clean hits all around.
jkrdevil 12-16-2006, 03:14 PM Anyone else understand how a trade of Gomez for Datsyuk would help both teams out?
http://www.nypost.com/php/pfriendly/print.php?url=http://www.nypost.com/seven/12162006/sports/devils/center_swap_fits_for_devils_devils_mark_everson.ht m
The only way I see it is that it helps the Devils Salary Cap wise with Matvichuk. I have no clue how it helps Detroit though.
Devilsfanatic 12-16-2006, 03:14 PM Anyone else understand how a trade of Gomez for Datsyuk would help both teams out?
http://www.nypost.com/php/pfriendly/print.php?url=http://www.nypost.com/seven/12162006/sports/devils/center_swap_fits_for_devils_devils_mark_everson.ht m
Gomez in Detroit with Zetterberg in that system is a 90+ point player. Datsyuk here is a hole lot of nothing.
Hasek was called for one of these earlier in the week hahahaha, and then his reaction, LOL
jkrdevil 12-16-2006, 03:14 PM Nevermind.
EDIT: Hasek caught on the Brodeur rule.
Unthinkable 12-16-2006, 03:15 PM Dominek loses it.
Woah! Hasek flips out! 2 for delay of game, and maybe 2 more for unsportman-like
EDIT: Yep, 4 minute power play here. Put it in!
borrachon 12-16-2006, 03:16 PM Hasek burned by the dumbest rule in the game.
DevilsFan38 12-16-2006, 03:16 PM Hasek with quite a temper.
DevilFisch 12-16-2006, 03:17 PM Well, it's TIME for the Devils to take advantage. These don't come often and if NJ wants to win - and I hope they do - they gotta beat Hasek.
jkrdevil 12-16-2006, 03:17 PM BTW has Mary ever been caught by the Brodeur rule?
Unthinkable 12-16-2006, 03:17 PM If the Devils can't score here, somethings really wrong.
I know we're 0-3 on the PP today, but ZERO shots??
Oduya and Martin on the points.
devils1983 12-16-2006, 03:17 PM Hasek burned by the dumbest rule in the game.
I think it was Marty that suggested that once a goaltender got the puck within the trapazoid, they should be able to go where they want behind the net...the same should be for getting the puck infront of the goal line.
Devilsfanatic 12-16-2006, 03:18 PM BTW has Mary ever been caught by the Brodeur rule?
Once against Ottawa last year a second after Hasek got called by it in the same game, Don Van Massenhoven made the calls.
SCOREEEEEEE!
BTW has Mary ever been caught by the Brodeur rule?
Yes, once or twice. The first time he was called for it, his stick never physically touched the ice, but he got called anyway.
Unthinkable 12-16-2006, 03:18 PM Gomez shows signs of offensive life. Good to see Rafalski back out there after he left the ice earlier.
devils1983 12-16-2006, 03:18 PM Hey, two points for my hockey pool.
DevilFisch 12-16-2006, 03:19 PM GOMEZ!
It just slides in!
Where's your tantrum now Hasek? His facial expression after the goal was priceless! Was the ****-fit worth it, Hasek?
1-0 NJ! Whoo!
DevilsFan38 12-16-2006, 03:19 PM Score! Was that before the first PP ended?
jkrdevil 12-16-2006, 03:19 PM Goal in the first 2 minutes. Let's get another.
devils1983 12-16-2006, 03:19 PM Lindstrom totally screening Hasek on that play.
SCORE! Gionta from the point, might've gone off of Gomez. Rafalski was back on the ice, so I assume he's ok now.
Ole!
2nd PP unit is now Parise-Zajac-Brylin
DevilFisch 12-16-2006, 03:22 PM Hasek is getting more work this period, he just stopped about 3 or 4 more Devils' opportunities since the goal.
This is good, I hope NJ keeps it up. Also, I hope they don't take anymore dumb penalties.
devils1983 12-16-2006, 03:23 PM Hasek is getting more work this period, he just stopped about 3 or 4 more Devils' opportunities since the goal.
This is good, I hope NJ keeps it up. Also, I hope they don't take anymore dumb penalties.
I wonder if Claude was on his hands and knees during the first intermission...pleading with the guys to play better. :teach:
Unthinkable 12-16-2006, 03:26 PM Parise denied of a penalty shot opportunity. Lebda grabbed onto and held him right as Zach went for the shot, but the Devils get no call.
DevilFisch 12-16-2006, 03:27 PM AND PLAY CONTINUES WATCH: Parise with a breakaway but is knocked into Hasek from behind! No call!
Keep on shooting and skating, NJ. You are clearly getting the better of Detroit by doing so.
Parise denied of a penalty shot opportunity.
He ran over Hasek at the same time. Call it even?
DevilsFan38 12-16-2006, 03:28 PM I think it should have been a penalty, I don't know if he had a clear break. And I think he only ran into Hasek because he got hooked and shoved. But hey, that's my view, clearly the refs didn't see it that way.
dkball7 12-16-2006, 03:28 PM This game is a perfect example of why the stat of Save Percentage is flawed. Hasek has saved 15 of 16 shots and Brodeur 22 of 22. However would anyone here say that Brodeur has been playing SO MUCH better than Hasek? Hell no.
jkrdevil 12-16-2006, 03:29 PM He ran over Hasek at the same time. Call it even?
That was because he was hooked and forced into him. However it was not a penalty shot opportunity, Parise didn't have a clear breakaway. But considering the way the game has been called it should have been a penalty.
DevilFisch 12-16-2006, 03:30 PM This game is a perfect example of why the stat of Save Percentage is flawed. Hasek has saved 15 of 16 shots and Brodeur 22 of 22. However would anyone here say that Brodeur has been playing SO MUCH better than Hasek? Hell no.
Uh...
I'd say Brodeur has been the better goaltender, he singlehandedly stopped Detroit from going up anywhere from one to three goals early in the first period.
It looked like the two players were even to me. Either way, less than 2 minutes left in the period. Langenbrunner has a three on two, and takes a slapshot from the circle :shakehead
dkball7 12-16-2006, 03:36 PM Uh...
I'd say Brodeur has been the better goaltender, he singlehandedly stopped Detroit from going up anywhere from one to three goals early in the first period.
I don't know man. Brodeur has been incredible but Hasek has made half a dozen saves which made me go "oh my... how the hell did he do that!"
We better enjoy this 3rd period. We may never again be able to watch the two best goaltenders ever (IMO) face off against each other.
DevilFisch 12-16-2006, 03:36 PM Gomez sez the game is a good hockey game. It's fast, good reffing, good defense, and two of the best goaltenders ever. What does he know, he's a hockey player? ;)
Anyway, much better performance in this period by the Devils. The Devils got one past Hasek on a power play they should have scored on; and began to put more pressure on Hasek whilst nullifying Detroit's talent up front. They will need to continue this for another 20 and get another goal if they want to win, IMO.
Unthinkable 12-16-2006, 03:41 PM More annoying advertisement on the Devils telecast... Get your tickets now for the NY Nicks with the take me home chorus and lame drum machine or the little kid at Christmas totally freaking out over a toy robot to sell more BMW's?

Unthinkable 12-16-2006, 03:48 PM Brian Gionta. The new pointman for the powerplay?! Burns used to use Rolston at the point in Boston. Anything is better then seeing Paul Martin shoot one into the back of his own player or fire another one wide.
DevilFisch 12-16-2006, 03:53 PM Oduya dives in a good way to make a defensive play on a rushing Kris Draper. Brodeur with a save. The Devils then dump on a line change.

JOHN MELLANCAMP SUCKS UPDATE: David Hale will sit 2 minutes for a check from behind, I do declare. This will be Detroit's sixth - ulp - power play.

Gio was only back on the point because Langs and Rafalski had both pinched.
Interesting story regarding a game between the Devils and Sabres. Both Brodeur and Hasek got a shutout, and both traditionally keep the pucks of games they get the shutout in. Marty gets the puck, what does he do? Saws the puck in half and gives the other half to Hasek.
Jersey Fresh 12-16-2006, 03:54 PM these refs really like the sound of their own whistles, eh?

I remember Brodeur talking about that in one of the special features on the 2003 Devils Stanley Cup DVD where he's showing off his trophy room. Cool thing to do on Brodeur's part.
DevilFisch 12-16-2006, 03:56 PM Uh...we have a penalty. The refs are conversing.
OK, the puck was DEFLECTED out of play, so no delay of game. Whew. Devils do NOT need a second man in the box right now.
Captain Lou 12-16-2006, 03:57 PM I know how much I hate the Dolans, I can only imagine how much Knick fans hate them. DevilFisch 12-16-2006, 04:04 PM Another Devils penalty. Jamie Langenbrunner will sit for two. I'M TIRED OF THIS LACK OF DISCIPLINE. It's a miracle Detroit hasn't capitalized on their last 6 power plays.
Is that confirmed that they won't show the Rutgers game? I thought they were close to working something out....?
Well, there's still over a week to hash this out, but Time Warner and Cablevision rejected the NFL Network's offer of a free preview for the week of the Texas Bowl. The cable companies rationale was that it wouldn't be fair for them as it could be used for leverage in later negotiations. Thank heavens I don't have cable (and I do have the NFL-N), otherwise I'd be pissed about this.

I have to disagree, it wasn't as if the Devils were trying to sit on a lead and not trying to add to it. Hasek played very well aside from the one goal. Detroit was flying through the first period and third period. When you get as many power plays as they did, that's not hard to do - NJ had to spend so much time killing penalties and Detroit had all the time to move the puck and make plays. If anything, NJ should be lucky they didn't lose 4-1 or 5-1 - thanks to Brodeur's stellar play throughout much of the game.
Unthinkable 12-16-2006, 04:37 PM I'm now firmly in the camp of moving Paul Martin to make some room for Richard Matvichuk. Move Martin plus one of our forwards with hopes of sparking some offense. Our PP sucks though. NJ would rather play a game with zero PPs than one with 14.
I overslept and missed most of the game (Central Time Zone so it wasn't as bad ;)) but I caught the last ten minutes of the third. The breakout is terrible when Gomez isn't on the ice, I'd prefer it if Langenbrunner didn't carry the puck into the zone when EGG and Rafalski are on the ice. Martin...boy am I glad we didn't sign him longterm this summer. If you notice every time we set up behind the net for ten seconds, it's him with the puck. It's like he doesn't want it and when he has it he doesn't know what to do with it.
I'm getting frustrated with these games where NJ needs one goal in the last 15 minutes to be back in it and they do NOTHING to even come close to tying it. :banghead:

I would tend to agree with you, but they only took 2 penalties in the third period and STILL only managed one shot (until the very end when they had 3 more skaters on the ice). The puck was constantly in our end and when we did finally get possession, there wasn't even a threat of pressing for a goal. They were wayyy too passive....you could see them losing the lead way before it happened.

Fair enough. The Devils clearly needed to be more aggressive on offense. And a lot simpler. The forwards have this idea that passing on a 3-on-2 or a 2-on-1 is critical. Yes, it is in SOME cases. But if you are having trouble getting shots on net, TAKE THE SHOT! With respect to even strength play, the Devils forwards like to force the puck into the slot or make a difficult pass through traffic to make a play. If a Devil is in the slot and the pass gets through, great; but often times that doesn't happen. Ergo, they don't get many shots and are too passive on offense.

I predict Lou puts a picture of Pat Burns in Julien's office reminding him of where his place is in the Devils organization... and how that position can quickly be filled.
Under said picture is a list of objectives:
1. Win the Stanley Cup.
2. Be Division Champions/Make playoffs.
3. Beat division rivals in playoffs.
Unthinkable 12-17-2006, 12:57 AM First Red Wings win in NJ in 13 years. Buffalo hadn't had much success at all against them either until the other night just the same. Some real eye opening games playing out this month for Lou to step back and reflect on.
JerryGigantic 12-17-2006, 03:53 AM 1 shot in the 3rd isn't going to do it... Our offense is so sluggish and uncreative relative to the skilled players we have, it is embarrassing. And you can't sit back on a 1 goal lead against a team with a dynamic offense like the Red Wings. Just retarded. I know the players have to be held accountable, but methinks coaching is a big reason we don't score more or play an entire 60 minutes of motivated hockey. Can't take entire peiods off in this league and expect to win hockey games. :shakehead :shakehead :shakehead
Feed Me A Stray Cat 12-17-2006, 02:25 PM Truth hurts I guess.
You're joking right?

No. It's not unreasonable to think this team might miss the playoffs.

Eh, I think it is. I really doubt you would have been saying the same thing five days ago.
