Look down at the Washington Capitals and it lists Zubrus as an NHL star and among the most underrated players in the NHL.

Not bad for a Lithuanian :)

Do you agree?

Actually, he is a product of Ukrainian hockey believe it or not (with a little help from Canada :) )

At age eleven Dainius moved to Kharkov, Ukraine to play hockey and became good friends with Dmitri Yakushin. The two friends would later find themselves teammates while playing junior hockey in Canada. The Canadian hockey scene was not an entirely new experience for Zubrus when he joined the Pembroke Lumber Kings in 1995 as he had been to Canada three years earlier to play in the 1992 Quebec International Pee Wee tournament.

Apparently, the Druzhba-78 hockey program, which Zubrus was a part of, is still alive and kicking in Kharkov:

Btw, note the name of the team manager. Coinsidence? I think not.

He probably took a big part in reinstating it, 'cause as far as I know in the early 90's it went broke and everybody moved to Yaroslavl', I believe.

There was a special on CBC a few years ago about that team and all the stuff the coach put them through. Very interesting.

I would think that was the case, but strangely enough, I didn't find a single mention of Dainius on their site, not even in the acknowledgement section (unless I'm blind)

there's another guy with the last name Zubrus, who's a head of something. I would bet it's his father.

That's his brother Audrius who also works for the Washington Capitals.

Zubrus is one of the most inconsistant NHL players i've ever seen.
