Eric Fehr was in the line up yesterday , how did he look ?

Is he far away from being a regular in the NHL ?

IMO when I compare these couple of games this season compared to his games last season there is a large improvement. I can see him being a regular next season.

Next year is his year, although he did have some great sounding chances the past two games.

he does look more comfortable for sure. Last season he looked like a kid who was really out of place in the NHL. He will be ready for the NHL next year, and not a moment to soon.

Fehr's shot on the 2 on 1 took an amazing save by dipietro. Even in slowmo the release on that shot was amazing.

except from the angle i saw the replay, he shot the puck back into the goaltender and missed a lot of open net.

I agree he prob should have done better with that chance. But the release did look good, which is the first thing you look for in a goalscorer. And certainly gave me optimism for this kid scoring goals in the future.

sure. no argument there. i am just not comfortable talking about an amazing release when the shot itself was misguided. he had a lot of open net and missed.
its like talking about joe namath or dan marino and their amazing release only for the pass then to be intercepted.

i was impressed by the guy. ovechkin misses too.

I'm sorry.....I have to TOTALLY disagree. I watched that in slow mo several times. If he could have gotten that shot more than 10-12 inches off the ice, it was a goal. Don't get me wrong, it was a very good save but a real sniper roofs that shot.

Well I have to disagree back as it was clear to me that Fehr was going five hole on that shot. :)

Well than he shouldn't have decided to shoot there. I think he just got excited and missed, which is fine from a kid only 13 games into his NHL career. So I am surely not going to knock him for missing this chance.

Would I have loved him to score, sure. But what I was more concerned with two aspects of his game, his skating and his release. And I thought so far in the 2 games he has played this season he has moved very well out there for a 6'4 winger and his release, which as i said before is by far the most important thing to look for in a potential goal scorer is excellent.

As Fehr gets more games and more comfortable he is going to score plenty of goals.

If he was going 5 hole, he missed worse than I thought. Why would you go 5 hole when the goalie is out of position to Fehr's left?

Anything from above the goalies pad width to the crossbar scores with ease.

I have to agree he was going 5 hole every goalscorer knows that a goalie come from left to right to make that save more often then not spreads his legs apart

Watch it again....if he was going 5 hole....why would he lift the puck that high?

I see the smile and maybe you are joking, but that was exactly the problem. He had a good foot of space between the crease crossing goaltender and the post and had the entire upper near half of the net empty and the shot went back toward the 5 hole.

He put too much angle on it(probably rushing because it would have been his first) and hit the goalie.
