Who wants an EGG ????

I really don't understand why Elias was pared up with Brylin and Langenbrunner then with Madden and Langenbrunner... and on the PP he was with Brylin and Tallackson . We need to get Elias on a roll and the best way to do that is to put him with the best forwards we have, wich would be Gomez and Gionta.

I know I told everybody to RELAX when everybody was freaking out about his slow start, but now i'm getting a little unpatient. It just seems that the other teams want the W more then we do.

I can't wait untill Zajac and Hale come back, we really need the.... :help:

Putting the "EGG" line back together wouldn't be such a bad thing, at least until Elias gets his groove on again. On the flip side of that, I guess Julien doesn't want to put all his "EGGs in one basket". :biglaugh: . OK bad joke :thumbd: , but you get the picture.

If this losing streak goes for another game or two, I can see a big shake up on this team. Especially when our next two games are against Florida and Columbus.

Julien wants to spread his offense around?
His philosophy has not worked this year.
A good coach changes what doesn't work.
We need the Egg line back or we will continue to struggle

Elias-Gomez-Gionta
Parise-Zajac-Bergfors
Pandolfo-Maddden-Langenbrunner
Rassmussen-Dowd-Tallackson

Rafalski-Matvichuck
Liles-White
Hale-Martin

Trade Brylin and lukowhich to colorado for Liles and call up Bergfors. it sounds like dowd, hale and matvichuck are not that far away.

Elias does have 7 assists, so it's not like he's not doing things offensively. Putting him on a line with Brian Gionta might be good for the offense. Gomez also has 3 Goals this year after scoring 33 last season, so he is a goal scoring threat too.

We all want a quick fix. But I say, give Julien a chance. So what if we lose some games.

If this works out, then the Devils will have new systems to work with.

Think long term guys. Dont limit your vision to the next game.

How about trading Tallackson for Bernier while we're at it!

I don't believe we would get back much, if anything for this guy. And yes, put the egg line back together and give me Parise, Zajac and Jamie. Also try and find a way to fit in Clarkson. We need more guys that play with fire in their eyes.

I new you were. I was just trying to add that he isn't worth a bag of pucks from what he's showed in the last two games.

I hate to run this thread off course but, I honestly do feel that elias should have never been made a captain. Hes not captain material. He is a quiet guy that dont have that leadership quality to speak leadership to his teamates. Hes a damn fine player with superb puck handling skills, but not a captain! I felt this way even when people were suggesting him to be captain.

He has too much pressure on him imo. Since hes less of a spoken type leader and more on showing leadership by his skills and pressence, then thats not good enough. He loses focus more and then tries TOO hard to skate and now he loses that touch, that elias that we all once knew. He gets too nervous even in those shoot-outs in front of his teamates imo. Cause now he cant screw up cause he is captain. A captain is a person that has to be strong vocally than just being a swift skater.

Why is there any necessity to talk about a shakeup offensively? Ottawa's game was so bad that scoring 5 goals we still would have lost by a 3 goal margin.

I think (and I think Management of the team feels this way as well) that Parise-Gomez-Gionta will AND SHOULD remain in tact. this is our best offensive line and it does produce. It was proved it last season and 2 of the 3linemates lead the team in all offensive categories. I also think Elias-Zajac-Langenbrunner should remain in tact as well. This is the best way to spread the scoring. Brylin on the 3rd line RW adds more scoring to thst line is well.

the issues with the team are attributed to the fact that White has not played top level, Devils are plagued by injuries on D (Hale and Matvichuk are out) causing Fahey and Oduya to be our 3rd pairing and Lukowich taking on a role that is not suitable for him.

Leave the forward lines alone. If a juggle of the 4th liners is suggested then that might be more sensible but even that is not as necessary as getting the D back in sync.

I do think it was a little absurd to see Rasmussen-Jannsen and LaCouture on the ice with 2:30 left in the game last night. Stupidity on the part of Julien.

Oh and by the way, brylin has been the best player on the ice in several games this season. he is all over the place. He plays with passion and heart. Why trade him? To get Matvichuk and Hale in under the cap the Devils should ship Lukowich, waive Fahey and send Oduya down.

As for Elias, I think his goals and production will come, but I did expect a better effort after that Ottawa disaster. I expected the Devils to come out like caged animals against Pittsburgh and they did not play 60 minutes.

the 2nd period is killing the Devils this season. they are unable to build any momentum. It is to early to panic right now. I say leave the forward lines alone all together. The PP will come around. Scratch White to make a statement one night. Work in practice on not turning the puck over.

Nice Jugband avatar!!! :yo:

Im not to worried just yet about the situation. If this continues for another week or two then maybe....who would you have suggested for the C?

"there aint no hole in the washtub";)

If it ever does come down to this decision, the only person that would fit the bill the best would be madden imo. To me he seems like that type of person whos more grittier, intense and vocal. He's more of that "sarge" type guy.

I can actually say that having NO captain and lifting that C off elias would relieve a big burden on him and just let him do his thing. I'd much rather have this.

Just to let you all know, I am not worried in our play this early on. We could be worse, look at philly. I'm not saying this about our captain cause im worried about our teams play. Im just more concerned about elias himself cause I feel he can be ALOT better than the way he's been playing this start of the season.

Again, i'd rather have no captain than to burden one of our best players imo. I truly feel this way about him.

There is talk about an offensive shakeup because our top two lines are not producing at all except when the EGG is together.. The majority of our goals are being scored when we have to come back ad when the EGG is out there.. We put together only 22 shots in a game where many thought we'd come out firing...

I also don't think the Parise-Gomez-Gio is nearly as good as the EGG.. Gomez and Gio were the top scorers because they played a full season.. Elias scored 45 points in 38 games.. Almost a 100 point pace for a full season.. Elias seems to go into another form when on that line..

I agree with Brylin stayin on the 3rd line.. I think he completes that line perfectly..

As for the fourth line, this is the least of our problems.. No matter who is on that line they're not going to see a lot of time.. The checkin line is on the ice for most of the oppositions 1st line (which takes a lot of ice time) then we have to get out two scoring lines as well.. Not a lot of time left for the 4th line to be gettin 8-10 min..Especially when we're trailing 1/2 the time..

Both of Zajac's goals have been assisted by Parise and they have looked very good together when on the ice..

If any shakeup happens i'd like to see diff D pairings.. They seem to play apart from each other and not know where their partners are..

So for Florida, when Zajac returns, why not put the EGG together and bump Parise down to Langs and Zajac.. What do we really have to lose by doing this?

I agree with all of this, no need to trade away forwards and dimantle the team yet. We need our D to get healthy so we don't see Fahey again or Lukowich getting so many minutes. A lot of people have been wanting the EGG line reunited and it should.

Elias is not having a bad start point wise (1 goal - 7 assist in 9 games), it's just that he doesn't seem to be as "hungry" as usual. The thing that gets my attention is his -5 ratio. I think that 6 of his 8 points have come on the PP and every single point came on goals from Gomez and Gionta. Those 3 guys together are just Dynamite

I understand that Julien has to spread the offence, but when you got 3 guys that "gel" like those guys do....... don't F***K it up

I do agree that the EGG line is the least of our worries. The D is just awfull !!!!! Let's start playing with some fire and determination and less of that stick-checking.

I'm expecting nothing less than, 2 BIG wins against Florida and Columbus before the start of next week.

Rich Chere's recent articles reveal alot... and I can actually relate to the Devils' situation.

Their confidence is shot. These players are not robots. The past few defeats have really hurt them mentally.

I remember even recently, playing my first few legit inline games where I was personally responsible for letting the other team score, and how that shot my confidence for the remainder of the games.

Sometimes, just "getting" the message (knowing what you did wrong, and what you need to improve on) isnt going to turn things around.

This is the problem with the whole team right now. And its something that they will eventually come out of collectively.

Give them time. Show them support. Once they get confident with their new lines, their new systems of play, and themselves... they will be the Devils they should be.

How about trading Tallackson for Bernier while we're at it! Bernier had a sweet goal last night against Detroit. He and Michalek have been tremendous this year.

More and more coaches are putting greater emphasis on having two complimentary players working together on the ice as opposed to stressing set lines with the perfect trio every night. Tandems are big this season.
